A short while after my outburst the angel continued speaking.
"Now that you have been assigned to Heaven, it's time to send you on your way." The angel says.
"Wait! Please." I hurriedly wave my hands hoping to stop him.
"I have a few questions, that I would like some answers to if possible."
'He seemed relaxed, which is a good sign for me. Never a good idea to pick a fight with a god or be on their bad side. He looks at me waiting for my questions, I guess I really do have all the time in the world.'
"Sure, I'll be happy to answer any of your questions." Says the angel now back to drinking they're tea.
'Wow heaven really does have the best HR / customer service department.' I can't help but think.
"What exactly is heaven like?" Says a boy with big bright questioning eyes.
"Well, it's the purest form of your chosen religion with the world being exactly how each chosen belief writes about it in their scriptures. A calm tranquil space where people have social gatherings all the time, be it picnics, concerts, and worship for their god." Says the angel.
"For Christians they get to have picnics, meet with loved ones that made the cut, and get to have praise and worship every day, not just Sundays." The angel finishes talking.
'Oof, yikes, it sounds like a place my grandmother or mother would enjoy but as an introvert this doesn't sound so appealing. Not to mention it sounds like work. Putting on fake happy faces on all the time. No internet, no sports, no competition, probably no sex either. For some of the less fortunate or simple folks this is a dream that they never want to be waken up from. But to me this sounded like a bad nightmare.' I can't but think in my head.
'Sorry grandmother, sorry mother, I love you, but I just can't do it.'
"You mentioned the Reincarnation process, would I simply go back to earth and have my memories wiped." I ask still wanting to know all the details possible.
"No, each soul would be sent to their own universe to experience life again." The angel replies.
"So, can we travel to any alternate reality?" I ask.
"Is it possible to be sent to stories or worlds of fiction?" I say to. 'I hope, as a seasoned Otaku well versed in Isekai, I always made hypothetical plans if this was the case for the afterlife. With already having a few places in mind.' I think.
He seemed amused as if he already knows where I'm going with this.
"Let me answer your questions in the order you gave them." The angel replies.
"The process of Reincarnation allows you to go to your previous world but at a different point in time, unless the soul fits better into another universe, worlds based on fictions are an option as they don't interfere with the natural timeline of the universe as their pocket dimensions." The angel continues talking by saying.
"In recent years souls have been following the trend of reincarnating into their favorite pieces of literature. I think you morties call it isekai." The angel finishes by saying.
'No way! The isekai genre is even popular here. And what the hell is a Morty?' Me excitedly thinking not caring too much about consequences.
The angel raises an eyebrow at me, as if he could read my thoughts. 'I guess this might seem weird as he's not used to people giving up eternal salvation in heaven to live in a fantasy world.'
"You can choose this, but it has consequences and conditions where you could lose your chance at reincarnation and heaven in the future." The angel says.
'That's understandable, so all that is left is to learn what the price is and if I believe I can pay.' Thinking that nothing comes free in the world. I can't help but think. "Okay, I would like to know if it would be possible for me to travel to another universe instead of going to heaven and if it is, where can I travel to?" I reply to the angel by saying.
"Can I choose any world I want?" The boy starts to say to the angel while rubbing his hands together like an evil villain. 'If possible, maybe I'd get to pick Yu-gi-oh world where I can live a comfortable life playing cards all day with a truck full of prize money.' I think.
"Is it possible to choose the living conditions?" 'If I had the options between being poor or rich I'd pick rich 100 out of 100.'
"What about my looks and stats? 'This is personally important to me as attractive people can easily win people over just by a look. Not to mention my employer will unconsciously treat me better than others. But most importantly my sex life could all be riding on this.' I think.
"Can I get a system?" I say. 'This being maybe the most important element as this decides what kind of person I will be, not to mention lifestyle.'
"Yes, you can travel to another universe." Starts the angel, talking a pause he continues
"No, you can't choose the living conditions just like you can't choose your parents or child." 'I internally curse as this means the location is random.'
"Yes, you can have a system but that's based on if you can afford it using your karma points."
"Like I said previously I'm not allowed to tell you how much Karma points an individual has as well as the amount needed to qualify for Heaven or Reincarnation."
"You can choose any destination you want but the price may differ according to said universe."
'Well, I guess that makes sense, not like this determines the kind of person you become.' With the ball of light fine with these conditions for continuing.
"Now let's start with consequences and conditions. Because you wish to be reincarnated you lose your right to enter heaven and will have a balance of zero once assigned a body. That means you start over."
"Next is the shuffling of Karma points, good deeds give you a 50 percent increase in karma but bad actions double."
"Plus if you wish to remember this conversation you're going to have to pay half of your current karma points as you would start with an advantage based on your situation. This being what makes people reconsider before being reincarnated."
'Yikes, that's a hard sell.'
"Now let's begin!" The angel says in a commanding tone.
I next see a large glowing book the size of a poster and as a thick as refrigerator.
"This booklet has all the universes you can afford to travel to and their price."
'He calls this a booklet?' The ball of light can't help but mentally sweat drop. 'Luckily it has a table of context. Inside each universe is given a one-page synopsis with pictures based on the time period I can enter. In total there were 138 million different pieces of literature I could enter.'
"You can talk to it to direct it towards your desired universe or touch it like it's a tablet. Or if you're a pc user, just start typing and using this virtual mouse."
'Okay yeah this is a level of comfort and convenience I wish my previous world had; the angels here sure are understanding of my needs. To make it easier I limit the search to anime comics and video games. The search instantly drops to 10 million. But I really wasn't the biggest gamer or the biggest fan of comics, so I limit the search to anime.'
'Still with just leaving anime the search goes down to 7,000. Finally, I see the anime I'm most familiar with. That being Yu-gi-oh, Pokémon, Dragon ball, and the other shonen and isekai's. But this is where I notice the problems.'
'It turns out the more peaceful the worlds are the higher the price of karma points needed. And you boy doesn't have the necessary funds for this endeavor. Meaning If I want an easy life that's guaranteed points I would have to start over as a baby and have no memory of my past life. Which is for me something I can't accept if I have the choice. Not to mention no system or cheat.'
For example,
"I pick to be reincarnated in a world known as Pokémon and become Ash Ketchum right before he goes off on his journey."
The angel thinks for a moment to calculate how many points would be needed to have my request approved. "That's fine but you won't be able to keep your memories of this conversation, nor will you be given a system. Also becoming Ash is out of the question as he has the aura of the legendary hero, without him the entire world could be left endangered. Leaving you with negative -70 percent Karma points."
"What about a mob character but I get a system?"
The angel thinks for a moment then speaks. "Unfortunately, no you'd be left with 10 negative points plus you can't pick which part of the timeline you arrive nor your age or situation."
If I could stand up while asking this as I think I realized the problem. "Wait so how much does it cost to be in the world of Pokémon?" 'Then like I realized the hidden fees of a contract I start to ask questions rapidly as if the answer was getting away.'
"How much is a system?"
"How much for the timeline?"
The angel tilts its head then replies. "The world of Pokémon cost 40 percent of your Karma points." "The system cost 40 percent of all Karma points." "The timeline cost 20 Karma points, and the protagonist's aura cost 40 Karma points if you're wondering."
I'm able to look at all the differences between the worlds so I can't help but ask. "Why are the prices so high?"
"That's because the world is peaceful and people can easily gain Karma points, not to mention a comfortable life as they can abuse the knowledge they gathered from their world." The angel replies
'Funny enough this is what kept me out of having an easy time in most anime, leaving me with nothing else but worlds where I need to risk my life just to live. Which means I need to pick from shonen's as they cost the least because of the high causality rate. And the gods don't believe in no take backs, so I'm stuck with this.'
"Okay what if I pick Naruto world, plus I get a system and I get the six eyes." 'The angel's eyes widen, and I can tell he's actually amazed.' Then he speaks raising a hand to cover his mouth in a dramatic way. "Wow you have just enough Karma points for that."
"Yesssss, finally, easy life here I come!" I say jumping out my seat fist pumping the air like a child.
"Buttttt" The angel said, I know the bastard was waiting to pop my bubble.
I can't help but groan outwardly. Palming my head I can't help but ask. "Awe no, what's the catch?"
"Well, you wouldn't have any memories of this conversation and would be dropped randomly. Meaning you could be from anywhere in time from the sage of six path era, warring states, or Boruto. Not to mention your system would have you working to acquire the six eyes."
I break into cold sweats, 'anything but that, as a translucent smile of Boruto creeps into my mind.'
"But more seriously that'd be too dangerous, as if I don't end up in Konoha I'm as good as dead. Not to mention I would be able to abuse the timeline."
"Can you give me a general price for all bloodlines, Kekkei Genkai and nature transformation. And the price for Indra and Asura's Chakra and Physical Prowess."
'And I kind of pity my Karma at this point as I don't get to be some overpowered character who'd a descendant to Ninja God. Heck I would be fine with a 1,000-year history, like Ino, Shikamaru, or Kiba. But sadly, that's not me, I'm practically Tenten. Because no matter what I pick I only have 30 points left. Meaning average stats all around.'
My face instinctually stretches as I have to actively move my head to see all the selections available.
