Chapter 5 - Persistency

"Then you can teach me once we get married." She still insisted, he sighed in utter exhaustion. Never in his life has he held up such a long conversation with anyone before. Only during board meetings and events, but this lady was causing him to spout more words than he had anticipated!

"Orange, do you understand the penalty of your words?" He questioned again; giving her more chances to escape, he has never been this patient with anyone in his life before.

"If you know the kind of hell you're trying to walk into right now, you would've made haste in the other direction of salvation." He taunted, really serious. Ladies like herself, should be searching for good, and decent men. Not men like him, yet here she was, giving herself up in a silver platter, in order to be devoured by the devil himself.

What possibly could cause such a fragile looking lady like her, to be so difficult and persistent?

"I don't mind." She persisted on, making him chuckle bitterly, because all his plans of saving her from the inferno had gone to waste.

He signalled with his hand, and a guard appeared, holding a professional business card, as he handed it over to his boss. He took it; passing it over to the lady who had abruptly turned ecstatic.

Just before she could grab hold of it, he withdrew his hand from her reach; pausing in mid air. "Let's be clear, that you'll think carefully, before calling this number." He warned, "I hope your decision will experience change." He indirectly adviced, but the lady was not listening.

"O-of course." She shivered with the coldness she felt in her body; she needed to get back home and stay warmed.

"Do not call me after twenty four hours. Tell no one about this encounter, do you understand?" He warned, and the lady meekly nodded to his demands.

He silently chuckled, before patting her hair. "Good night, orange." He greeted; finally getting into his SUV, the door being shut closed by a guard, whereas the lady could only stare in sheer wonder as the car drove away, with a few escorts right behind it.

"I did it." Navier whispered, and her breath shuddered, as she kept watching the car finally depart from her sight; leaving her all alone, in the dark, and cold garage- it was still raining.

"I did it." None of what had asspired, felt real. It was like a dream, where she won against the devil himself. Her heart beat was drumming wildly in her chest as she kept on repeating those words.

"Oh, my God!" She exclaimed loudly in delight, "I did it!" Navier's hands raised in triumph; her two trophies in her hands. It felt like a dream. Navier happily laughed in disbelief as she jumped up, like a teenager who just got her first kiss.

The overjoyed lady clutched her chest in comfort, as she searched for her inhaler. After taking a few shots, she sighed happily, with a big smile dancing in her eyes, and face; obviously she was grinning like an idiot.

She cupped her hot cheeks, "I can't believe I did that." Finally she turned on her heels and literarily skipped towards her car, like a little girl.

Finally getting settled in her car, she tucked the card and money safely in her bag, and drove away in sheer bliss. It was a shame, she couldn't share such an experience with her best friend, because he had sternly warned her about such.

"Sorry, Jenna. you'll have to wait for the right time." She muttered, finally making her last stop in front of her destination. The lady hurriedly stepped out of the car and ran up to their front porch.

She took off my shoes, and before she could think of ringing the doorbell, the door flew open; revealing her angry looking best friend.

"Where have you been!? Why are you out so late!?" Her hands were on her hips as she questioned her with a displeased frown.

"Why are you an hour late!? Do you even know how many times I called and texted? What were you doing out in the cold rain, and why are you wet? Do you even care about your health!?" Her arms crossed over her heaving chest; she couldn't understand why her best friend loved to keep her worried.

"I'm really sorry, for causing you trouble, Jenna." Navier sincerely apologized, not making eye contact.

"I was so worried!" She led her inside, into the warm house, since the heater was turned on. "I didn't want my thoughts to go haywire in the other direction of positivity, but I just couldn't help it." She helped her take off her jacket, and handed her a towel.

"There were so many probability that came to my mind." She continued, "What if something had happened to you? Or worse, what if you were kidnapped by some awful men!? What would I do? What would I tell your uncle?"

The thought of the man, turned the frantic lady pale, as she shivered in fright at the thought of what the scary man would do to her, if he mistakenly found out that something happened to his beloved niece.

It wasn't because Jenna was afriad of them. She was just genuinely worried about her friend's well being. She really cares about Navier. They had been together for thirteen years, since preschool till this very moment; their relationship could be classified as sisterhood.
