Chapter 146: Dog Food Is a Bit Much
"They're just our friends who came to support us today. But don't worry, the Forget-Your-Worries Milk Tea you're getting is exactly the same as theirs—we're not giving them any special treatment just because they're friends," Qin Sitong explained with a smile.
"At most," added Yun Zijin, "the person who makes it might be different, but the ingredients are definitely the same."
Though the two girls still felt somewhat dubious, they had to admit that both Qin Sitong and Yun Zijin looked polite and trustworthy. With that, they set aside any lingering doubts.
Qin Sitong quickly set about preparing the Forget-Your-Worries Milk Tea the two girls had ordered. From its appearance, it looked no different from the ones made by Yun Zijin.
When they finally received their cups of Forget-Your-Worries Milk Tea, the girls wasted no time, each taking a careful sip. The moment the bright, swirling colors touched their tongues, their eyes widened as a wave of pleasant warmth settled over them.
"How is it?" asked Yun Zijin, smiling.
"It's so good! The taste is really special—if it weren't this pricey, I'd buy another cup on the spot! But I will definitely be back…maybe after my wallet recovers," one girl remarked, clearly enamored yet mindful of the cost.
"It's…incredible," the other added. "The name of your shop, Forget Worry Milk Tea, totally fits! Even if it's just for a moment, it really manages to make you feel lighter, somehow."
"Thanks for the kind words," Qin Sitong replied warmly. "We're planning to keep the shop open for the foreseeable future," said Yun Zijin, brimming with confidence in the system-produced Forget-Your-Worries Milk Tea.
"Yeah, it's too good to shut down," one of the girls said with a laugh. "We'll definitely spread the word around our dorm. Please keep this place open!"
They waved goodbye, and the two left, holding their milk teas and chattering excitedly. After they were gone, Qin Sitong and Yun Zijin exchanged glances—this was undoubtedly a promising start.
Not long after those girls left, a young couple entered. The girl's eyes immediately landed on the prominently featured Forget-Your-Worries Milk Tea on the menu.
"Wow, Forget-Your-Worries Milk Tea? That name is so interesting! Babe, I want this!" she declared, pointing at it with enthusiasm.
Standing nearby, Qin Sitong and Yun Zijin exchanged smiles; they certainly hadn't expected such consistent popularity for their specialty milk tea since the shop had just opened.
The boyfriend, however, eyed the price tag next to the Forget-Your-Worries Milk Tea and frowned slightly before gently suggesting, "We've never tried it before, and it's a bit on the expensive side. How about something else, hm?"
Neither Qin Sitong nor Yun Zijin interjected, leaving the choice to the couple.
"No way! I want it!" the girl insisted, clinging to his arm. "C'mon, we can share one, it won't be that big a deal."
"I know you like mango sago a lot—what if we get two cups of that instead?" he tried, gesturing at a cheaper option priced at 25 yuan. Next to 88 yuan, it was decidedly less painful for his wallet.
The girl pouted but eventually relented. "Fine, two cups of mango sago, and we share them. But next time we're getting the Forget-Your-Worries Milk Tea," she warned.
"Got it, I promise," he agreed softly, relieved she'd compromised.
"Hello!" Qin Sitong greeted them with a polite nod. "Two cups of mango sago—any sugar preferences?"
"Less sugar, please," the boy said quickly, worried his girlfriend might change her mind if they lingered.
"Two mango sago, less sugar. That'll be 50 yuan in total," Qin Sitong confirmed, tapping on the register. "Today's our opening day, so we have a 20% discount—so that comes down to 40 yuan."
"Great, saving that extra 10," the boy muttered with a slight grin, scanning the code to pay.
"All items are 20% off for the next three days," Qin Sitong continued. "It's our opening special."
"That's nice," the boyfriend nodded, sounding more relaxed. "I wish you'd posted a sign out front for that."
Qin Sitong paused. She and Yun Zijin had overlooked that detail. "Uh…we had some delay with the billboard printer, so it won't arrive until a bit later. We'll definitely have it up next time you visit!"
The boy seemed satisfied with that explanation. The girl, on the other hand, was tapping her foot impatiently, eager to try the drinks. Once the payment was processed, Qin Sitong began preparing the two cups of mango sago.
"A barista?" the girl asked when Ling Er, who had been quietly standing in a corner, suddenly exited the shop.
"That's our store's 'security guard'," joked Qin Sitong. "We expected more people for the opening, so we hired someone to help keep order. But we realized we might also need more folks outside to draw in customers, so we sent him out to do some small tasks."
It sounded a bit off, but the couple politely shrugged it away. The boy soon noticed that the store was fairly quiet. They'd find out whether the taste justified the hype soon enough.
A few minutes later, Qin Sitong set two cups of mango sago on the counter, offering politely, "We can bring them over to you, if you like."
The girlfriend shook her head. "No need, we'll carry them ourselves. Let's find a cute spot to take photos."
Smiling indulgently, the boyfriend picked up both cups, trailing after his girlfriend to a cozy corner seat. "Alright, I'll let you snap away. I won't take a sip until your photos are done," he joked, looking resigned but affectionate.
Watching the couple bicker sweetly, Qin Sitong and Yun Zijin couldn't help exchanging a wry glance—this was too much dog food for the day.
Finally, when the pair left happily, Qin Sitong exhaled in relief. "We've barely opened and I already feel a rollercoaster of emotions from our customers."
"Get used to it," Yun Zijin advised with a small laugh. "We'll be seeing all kinds of customers, but that's part of what makes having a shop interesting."
And with that, the first day of the Forget-Your-Worries Milk Tea Shop continued, brimming with small surprises and slices of life.
