Chapter 113: Not Even 100 Million?
As soon as Yun Zijin got out of her car at Fengxing Club, she attracted almost everyone's attention. Many onlookers whispered, guessing her identity. Su Mengyao, walking next to her, noticed the stares. "Your car is really eye-catching. Everyone seems to be wondering who you are," she said in a low voice.
Zijin, however, was unruffled. "You're the eldest daughter of the Su family; people's eyes aren't exactly off you either." After all, Su Mengyao had grown up in the Imperial Capital, and everyone in their circle knew her. Meanwhile, Sheng Yang and his companions would also naturally draw attention.
Just then, the person in charge of Fengxing Club, Manager Zhang, ran over, wiping sweat from his forehead. "Second Young Master Sheng, it's been a while. What brings you here?"
"Manager Zhang, why are you sweating so much? Isn't the air conditioning in the club on?" Li Yuecheng teased.
Manager Zhang replied nervously, "Oh, yes, yes. The AC system here is quite old. I'll have someone upgrade it tomorrow." In truth, dealing with these young masters always made him anxious. Not wanting to offend anyone who could cost him his job, he was on edge.
"Alright, I was just joking," Li Yuecheng said, grinning. "We want the track to ourselves for the whole day—planning to do a race."
"Certainly, I'll arrange that immediately," Manager Zhang answered, turning to instruct his staff to clear the best track. Some people who had intended to race earlier felt disgruntled at being driven away, but after seeing it was Sheng Yang and his powerful friends, they had no choice but to yield. Fengxing Club offered those displaced customers a refund on their track rental, but it was still unfortunate for them.
Zijin remained silent as she watched the group's actions. Some people were simply born with better luck—no use trying to rationalize it.
Suddenly, a man with a small entourage walked over in a showy manner. "Second Master Sheng, so you cleared the track. Dare you race against us?" His chin lifted arrogantly, words dripping with challenge.
Upon seeing him, Sheng Yang let out a snort. "Feng Dong… You're that same guy who's lost to me so many times, yet here you are again." They had raced several times before: Sheng Yang lost the first match but won all subsequent ones. Yet Feng Dong never stopped challenging him.
Feng Dong sneered, giving Su Mengyao and Yun Zijin a disrespectful once-over. "I've got some fine girls with me, but I see you do too. Let's make this interesting. Whichever side wins gets the other side's girls, how about that?" Hearing that, Fu Ze and the others glared daggers at him.
Li Yuecheng stepped forward, voice icy. "Feng Dong, blowhard as always, huh? Ten million on the line, if you dare."
Feng Dong scoffed, "Only ten million? That's pathetic. Let's raise the stakes. Each side puts up one hundred million. What do you say?"
Out of nowhere, it was Zijin who spoke. "A hundred million? Good. I'm in." She instantly doubled the bet to two hundred million. The entire group was stunned, especially Sheng Yang, who grabbed Zijin's arm to whisper a caution. "Sister Yun, that Feng Dong's family just runs a small supermarket chain. He can't gather a hundred million." Zijin blinked in mild disbelief. "He can't even raise that much?" Sheng Yang shrugged. "Hey, we can't muster that either, if you want the truth." Excluding Yun Zijin, the wealthiest among them might be Su Mengyao, but none had a hundred million in ready cash.
"Ahem, alright. Let's go with fifty million each side, then," Zijin proposed, looking at them sincerely. Feng Dong bristled. "Fifty million is fifty million! One race on the A1 track, winner takes all." He didn't have fifty million at first, but, along with a few supporters, scraped it together. Convinced he'd win, he saw no risk.
Once Feng Dong's group pooled their funds, Zijin coolly took out her black gold card and handed it to Manager Zhang as a neutral third party. "Swipe the card." Everyone murmured at how calmly she presented tens of millions. Then they recalled she'd just driven a supercar worth 50 million. It made sense that fifty million in cash wouldn't faze her.
Feng Dong snorted, "Alright, now the stakes are set. Let's do one round of two laps on the A1 track. No best-of-three. Let's go!"
"A1 is the trickiest track here," Li Yuecheng noted, stepping up. "I'll handle it." Sheng Yang also seemed poised to volunteer. He was typically the best racer among them, but just as he readied himself, Zijin held up a hand to stop him. "I'll do it," she declared. Sheng Yang blinked, startled. "You sure, Sister Yun? You never said you raced."
Zijin smirked faintly. She had once gotten a "racing skill package" from Suibianhua but never found the opportunity to use it. This was perfect. "Yes, I can handle it," she said, then stepped forward calmly.
Across the way, Feng Dong gave a mocking grin. "Sheng Yang, are you so scared of me you pushed a woman forward to race on your behalf? Even if I win, the victory's hollow. So typical of you!" "We won't know who'll win until the last second," Zijin replied coolly. Her tone was mild, but clearly laced with confidence.
"Ha! I see. Cowardly men, sacrificing a pretty lady. If it were me, I'd never do that. Actually, sweetheart, you should ditch Sheng Yang's group and join ours. I'd let you experience joys that wimps like them never could." Feng Dong stared lewdly. At that, Sheng Yang almost lost his temper completely, wanting to punch the man. "Feng Dong, watch your mouth!"
Feng Dong ignored Sheng Yang, focusing on Zijin with a smirk. "Well? D'you want to turn from 'evil' to 'good?' I'll take you under my wing." Zijin's lips curved in a mocking smile. "You're quite confident, aren't you?" The sarcasm in her voice was clear.
