Chapter 114 - Chapter 114: Cheating?

Chapter 114: Cheating?

"Humph! You can only impress people with slick words here. If you lose later, don't beg anyone to lend you a shoulder!" Feng Dong sneered, still mocking Yun Zijin even as the race was about to start.

Zijin ignored him. She merely gave Sheng Yang a reassuring look before climbing into the driver's seat of her white Shelby. Opposite her, Feng Dong sat in his black Lamborghini, each car idling at the starting line. The Fengxing Club referee waved his black-and-white flag sharply downward, and a whistle followed.

The moment the race began, Zijin stomped on the accelerator. The Shelby Tuatara's performance kicked in, leaving Feng Dong behind by half a car length right off the line. Fury burned in Feng Dong's eyes. He stomped his own accelerator to the floor, determined not to lose to a woman he'd just insulted.

Yet since the start, Zijin maintained a steady gap between their cars. When Feng Dong sped up, she sped up; when he slowed down, she slowed down. Anyone watching could tell the Shelby was toying with the Lamborghini. Inside his car, Feng Dong's face twisted with anger.

"Yun…Zijin…I…will…never…lose!" he ground out. Meanwhile, in the Shelby, Zijin felt so at ease she even glanced in her rearview mirror. The final lap arrived, and she pressed the accelerator deeper, widening the gap. Even if Feng Dong pushed his car to the limit, he had no hope of catching up.

Unwilling to concede, he refused to slow down at turns—where a prudent driver would ease off the gas. "What's he doing? He's not braking at all!" someone in the stands exclaimed in alarm. A crash seemed inevitable. Indeed, Zijin smoothly crossed the finish line first, setting a new speed record on Fengxing's challenging A1 track. Almost simultaneously, a loud "bang!" echoed across the venue.

Those who were still focused on Zijin's finish now turned to see what happened. Behind them, Feng Dong had smashed into a guardrail. Wearily, Zijin parked, got out of her car, and asked one of the referees what had happened. Relieved that no one else was hurt, she walked briskly to the crash site.

Feng Dong was still conscious, though pale, and his Lamborghini was badly dented. Seeing Zijin, he forced a nasty grin. "That was an unfair win," he said, spitting out the words. Zijin could only shake her head inwardly.

"Mr. Feng," she replied calmly, "do you intend to weasel out of paying by calling this 'unfair?' Was risking your neck for fifty million worth damaging your reputation? A deal is a deal."

"You nearly made me crash!" he shouted angrily, though deep down he knew it was his refusal to slow down at the turn that caused the crash. She'd already left him far behind, so if anything, it was his own recklessness.

"Hmph! If I hadn't spun out, I would've won!" he retorted. Zijin didn't bother holding back. "That's quite an imagination you have. I left you half a lap behind. Knowing oneself is important, Mr. Feng."

Sheng Yang stepped up. "Feng Dong, we all saw the race. Even if you hadn't slammed into the guardrail, you couldn't have caught her." He was disgusted that Feng Dong might try cheating them out of the money.

"Feng Dong," added Lu Yunfeng, "don't do something so low. If it'd been one of us racing instead of Zijin, we might not have come out unscathed. You have no one to blame but yourself."

Feng Dong glared at them. "Tsk. I've never seen you all so whipped. You've fallen under that woman's spell. Fine, call me the loser. Our family is small—we can't afford to offend the big four families." He leaned on his wrecked Lamborghini, scanning them with scorn.

"What nonsense! You lost the race; don't look for excuses," Su Mengyao said, her tone biting. She'd watched carefully and could tell that even had Feng Dong driven flawlessly, he wouldn't have matched Zijin's Shelby. He was outclassed from the start.

Meanwhile, Manager Zhang, serving as the third party, approached quietly. Zijin handed him her card. "Please transfer the fifty million. I'd like it in my account immediately." The sum was large, requiring extra verification. Manager Zhang, seeing which way the wind blew, completed the transaction as swiftly as possible. Zijin's phone took a while to show the text confirming the deposit. Once she confirmed receipt, Zijin turned to Feng Dong. "Thank you for your generosity, Mr. Feng. I know exactly where to use this money."

"What do you mean?" he demanded, refusing to lose face. Fu Ze smirked. "She's donating your fifty million to the orphanage. It's hers, so it won't carry your name." Hearing this, Feng Dong's face turned purple with anger. He'd lost the race, the money, and any attempt to salvage respect.

Zijin merely ignored him and turned to go, confident that her victory was indisputable. After all, she'd won fair and square—and left Feng Dong with no avenue for redemption.
