Amanda hit his hand away immediately as his hand touched her face, she took a step backwards. "I'm.....I'm alright, I just wanted to apologize for the way I acted earlier. I'm sorry." She looked back down and tucked her hair behind her ear.
"You don't need to. I understand you were just upset about your mom, I would react the same way if I were in your shoes." Nicholas responded, retrieving his previous position.
Amanda looked up at him and narrowed her eyes. "That's a lie, you can't possibly find yourself in this kind of situation. Unlike me, you have everything you need."
Nicholas chuckled and dipped his hands into his pocket. "That's what you think, that's what everyone thinks whenever they see someone like me but there are things we wish to have but can't."
"What kind of things?" Amanda questioned, raising both of her eyebrows.
Nicholas sighed, exhaling through his mouth. He glanced at his wristwatch briefly and returned his hand into his pocket. "I'd love to tell you all these things, but right now my plane is ready to leave. We should continue our conversation another time."
Nicholas turned around and opened his car door but he felt her hand lightly touch him.
"Wait!" Amanda called him back.
Nicholas stopped with one of his legs already in the car and the other one outside. He relaxed his arm on the car door frame and sighed. "What now? My Little miss."
"What? Don't call me that!" Amanda winced.
Nicholas rolled his eyes. "Sorry, I already did. What is it? Why did you stop me?"
Amanda cleared her throat. "Urmm... I need to ask you one quick question before you go."
Nicholas folded his arms, he stood out of the car completely but didn't close the door. "Okay, Shoot!"
Amanda gulped down and scratched the tip of her nose before speaking. "Why me?" She asked as she threw her hands up and landed them on her hips, thus making a tapping sound.
Nicholas narrowed his eyes. "What do you mean, why you?"
"There are thousands of beautiful ladies here in this city, surely many others would be willing to be your wife. Everyone wants to be married to a billionaire. " Amanda paused, searching his eyes for any hint of emotion.
Nicholas raised his shoulder with an expectant look on his face. "I don't understand. So what's your question?"
"My question is.....urmm, why did you choose to have a contract marriage with me? Among all the women in the world, why me?" Amanda replied to him in one breath.
Nicholas's eyes scanned around her face for a moment and then he chuckled.
"What!.... What is funny?"
Nicholas sighed. He took his hand out of his pocket and gently wiped the hair covering her eyes and tucked it behind her ear. Amanda felt his fingertips trace around her ear before she could even react, shivers rushed down her spine and goosebumps started to grow all over her as he stepped closer to her.
He traced his fingers down to the tip of her jaw and gently raised her face up to his. "Let's just say I have a good feeling about you and I know my feelings, they never lie." He said and shook his head with his tone very calm and alluring. Amanda couldn't help but feel his warm breath fan against her lips.
There was no room for her to breathe as his lips came closer to hers, she closed her eyes for an incoming kiss but it never came. She opened her eyes to see Nicholas already entering his car while her heart still raced rapidly behind her chest.
Nicholas rolled down his window. "Hey! I will see you soon, okay." He said with a little sarcastic smile tugging on his lips.
Amanda was dumbfounded. Dusty breeze ruffled her hair as she watched his car speed off . Her heart felt a seed of feeling for him that moment but she didn't know what it would grow into or how it would affect her future.
...
Amanda's eyes were fixed on Nicholas's lips as he said the words " I do," there was a little smirk on his lips after he said it. The preacher turned to her and asked the same question. "Do you take Nicholas Halligan as your lawful husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward...…."
Amanda gulped down as the question went on. Just a few days ago, she broke up with Marcus, who still bothers her with calls. She was also working her ass off as a waitress in a restaurant without the intention of accepting her father's proposal to marry a billionaire.
Now that billionaire was standing before her, ready to take her home as his wife. She remembered his words 'Let's just say It's because I have a good feeling about you and I know my feelings, they never lie,' but still she wasn't sure how true these words were.
The preacher cleared his throat, jerking her back to life. She looked up at Nicholas who already raised his eyebrows expectantly. The graveyard silence that swept across the crowd behind them also demanded her response.
Amanda exhaled shakily and tugged a small smile on her face. "I do." She knew her life wasn't going to be the same after this.
"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride," the preacher ordered and a roar of applause followed from the crowd.
Nicholas leaned over to her and held her close to his chest, his hand crawled up around her waist. Their breath fanning against each other just like the last time the only difference was that he kissed her this time.
Their lips gently touched and clasped together, her bosom squeezed against his chest as Nicholas held her closer. She could feel his masculine energy directed towards her alone, it felt like no one else mattered that moment.
This made her reflect back to the moment she shared her first kiss with Marcus. He was loving and affectionate, but his many troubles with the police and constant smoking made her lose interest in him after her many failed attempts to make him stop. She felt a little guilt within herself knowing how bad he would feel when finds out that she got married a few days after their break up.
In a moment, their lips separated and Amanda let out a soft gasp. She couldn't take her eyes off his mysterious blue eyes as he gently brushed his thumb across her lips, wiping the little saliva she had there.
After their joining, the two went over to the crowd to exchange pleasantries with family and friends. Amanda held up her heavy gown flare and stride towards her father who was chatting with some of his friends.
"Hey dad!" She called from behind him.
Mr Stewart turned around, the big smile on his face showed how happy he was to see her. "Look at you, you look amazing." He held her hand up and turned her around.
Amanda hugged him and kissed his cheek. "How is mom doing?" Her smile faded as she released herself from his embrace.
"She's still recovering honey, the doctors say she will be discharged in a week's time." Mr Stewart held up his smile.
"I'm worried dad, I haven't seen her since the day she was admitted." Amanda sniffled. She looked around hoping she would appear out of nowhere.
"I wish she was here, dad." Tears started to sting in her eyes but she refused to let them fall.
Mr Stewart held her on both hands and squeezed them gently, "I do too, she would have loved to see you wearing a long gown knowing that you've always hated them."
Amanda smiled. "Yes I know, mum loves teasing me for that. She would purposely get me long dresses so I won't be comfortable with my friends and stay long outside." She said and they both burst into laughter.
Mr Stewart rubbed the side of her arm slowly. "You know your mother wouldn't want to see you sad on your big day and neither do I, so just cheer up honey. Okay?" He pulled her in for a hug and patted her back gently.
"Mrs Amanda?" A thick voice called from behind her.
She turned around to find the face behind the voice.
