"The car is ready to leave and master Nicholas is waiting, please come with me." The bodyguard told her immediately, his fierce eyes and emotionless face made his words almost sound like an order.
Amanda narrowed her eyes. She was confused as to why the bodyguard has come to call her instead of Nicholas himself. He was supposed to come and say goodbye to her father too. He didn't introduce her to any of his family members or friends. Something wasn't right and she could sense it.
Amanda responded to him with a nod and a soft smile even though his presence frightened her a bit, she turned to her father and planted a kiss on his cheek before walking out of the church with the bodyguard.
Her heels clicked against the concrete floor outside the church. The scorching sun kissed her skin as she walked down the front step of the church. Amanda lifted her hand up to block her face from the sun, but suddenly she saw an umbrella held over her head.
She looked up to see the bodyguard holding up the umbrella over her. "Thanks!" she said, looking up at him but his face still had no expression.
Then out of nowhere, a black Cadillac screeched to a halt right in front of them. The bodyguard immediately flung the umbrella into the air and pulled Amanda behind him, he pulled a pistol out of the holster strapped beside him and aimed at the car.
The car door was pushed open and a red headed man in his early thirties came out. He had a lit cigarette between his lips and his demeanor promised trouble and anger.
Amanda couldn't see who the person was as she was obstructed by the bodyguard's massive body, but she knew that the mixture of German cologne and burning cigarette that filled her nostrils that moment could only mean one thing. Marcus was the one standing at gunpoint with her bodyguard.
"What the fuck is he doing here?" Amanda mumbled under her breath.
Marcus slammed his car door behind him. He took the cigarette out of his mouth. "Amanda!" He roared as he took a step closer, but the bodyguard cocked his gun and ordered him to stay back. Amanda came out from behind the bodyguard. She didn't want to feel like a coward, especially in front of Marcus.
She walked closer to him as the bodyguard followed her, still pointing the gun at him. "What do you want, Marc?" She called him by his nickname as she stopped a few feets away from him. Marc was her favorite way of calling his name as she wasn't used to calling him the normal way yet.
"What do you mean by that? You know exactly what I want!" Marcus's tone ringed with anger as it gradually called the attention of people around them.
She could start to hear people murmuring around her. She knew she had to make the conversation quick before her father came out to see the scene Marcus was creating. Nicholas might also take serious action when he sees her with her ex-boyfriend that she never told him about. She doesn't love him anymore but still she wouldn't like to see him get hurt.
"Please, Marc, this isn't the right place to talk or argue about anything. Let's just talk some other time okay?" She said in a calm tone, looking around nervously to see if her father had come out of anywhere.
Marcus scoffed. A sarcastic smile curled on his lips. He took a long drag on his cigarette as he stepped closer to the bodyguard, his chest almost touching his gun. Without a hint of fear in his face, Marcus blew the smoke on the bodyguard's face.
"This is exactly the right time to talk. Amanda! Tell me why you're married to another man after just five days of our breakup!" Marcus's voice started to break this time. He rubbed his nostrils with the back of his thumb as he sniffled. His eyes gradually turned reddish as tears started to sting his eyes, but he wiped them away before it could even form.
Marcus exhaled sharply, trying to control his emotions. "You didn't even tell me why you were breaking up with me, you just decided to leave without caring how I would feel."
Amanda gulped down, she started to feel a little sorry for him. She had never seen so much emotion written on his face before, her breakup with him had taken a toll on him. Talking about it made her also feel bad about herself and she didn't want that, not today.
"Marc, please just stay out of the way! I don't want you to get hurt." She said, looking over to the bodyguard who still stood ready to shoot him.
Marcus's sad face immediately changed into a angry look. "Hurt? Why did you think I'll get hurt?"
He paused for a moment and then pointed his finger to the bodyguard. "Is it because of this giant goofus over h-" the bodyguard guard smacked Marcus's face with his gun before he could complete his sentence. Marcus crashed to the ground immediately after impact.
The bodyguard quickly guided Amanda away, covering her with one arm and holding his gun on the other. They both walked hastily towards where their cars were waiting. Amanda turned her head around to see Marcus already standing to his feet, he held his nose with both hands already covered in blood as his piercing gaze met hers from afar.
The bodyguard opened the door of a black Lincoln Navigator and Amanda climbed inside the Jeep but the guard didn't enter with her, instead he slammed the door from outside and signaled for the cars to move. She looked around in panic as she couldn't find Nicholas in the car with her.
She tapped the driver's shoulder anxiously from behind. "Where is Nicholas and why isn't he in this car?" Amanda asked in panic, but the driver gave her no response as he marched on the accelerator.
