Natalie's Point of view
"You're so beautiful, Natalie".
Well, that was me talking to myself even though I didn't believe it.
Sometimes, being delusional can be the solution, not in my case, though, being always delusional is the best.
It was almost close to work hours, I couldn't wait to get home. I needed to rest and plan for the rest of the day with my friends and family or grab a drink or do something fun.
"You left your pen here, you should pick it up before leaving". Kyla said as she handed me the documents she was asked to give me. "This is for tomorrow," she added.
"Alright ma'am, I'll do justice to that as soon as possible." I said, arranging my hair as I was going to take the final trip to the office. I needed to hasten up a bit, so I didn't go to Caritlen's dinner late.
"Bye Kyla". I said, as I got into my car. It was an interesting day after all, I had so much to do and Mr Jerkins wasn't really like my neck as he used to be.
I drove happily home. I had ticked all my boxes for the day. I got home, and I was greeted by a messy house.
"Aaargh'' I screamed in frustration. I wished I could just speak a word and everything would go into place, but I wasn't a god or something close. I knew I should outsource chores I couldn't do, but I was also too lazy to do that.
I grudgingly started putting my things in place. I started from sorting the shoes I wear out, to the ones I do not wear, to the ones I wanted to give and wanted to sell, in several sections.
I looked at the piled up clothes downstairs and knew it was time to go to the laundryman down the road. I was so frustrated, and I didn't know if I should call Paula to help me.
"...she wouldn't, except I have something to give her in return" I said, thinking aloud, under my breath, as I collapsed on the second pile of clothes.
The clock kept ticking as I remembered I had to hasten up in order to meet Carityln. She was that friend everyone should have though, and she's someone I do not mind going to the ends of the earth for.
I picked up my phone and I checked the notification I hadn't opened before. It was a letter from my alma mater acknowledging they had seen my email. I smiled deeply.
I was so exhausted from my chores, but I had no choice but to still be at Carityln's. I hurriedly took out my wig from my car and dusted it. You really wouldn't blame me. I dislike physical activities except for one that would make me moan.
I took my bath in haste, I applied really natural looking makeup, dressed up in a not-so short gown, threw in some cologne and stepped out.
The drive to the Carribeans was longer, compared to when I drove to Huston. I nodded my head in ecstasy as Whitney Houston's iconic song "I Will Always Love You" jammed the speakers of my not-so-new car.
It eventually got to my favorite lyrics and "If I should stay, I would only be in your way.
So I'll go, but I know, I'll think of you every step of the way", blasted my speakers so badly that I knew I was all alone in this world. I wondered what was in Dolly Parton's mind when she wrote that. "Love wasn't just for me", I muttered, inaudibly, and continued my journey.
I finally pulled up at Carityln's and the aroma emanating from the kitchen blew my mind and made me salivate. The chimney was smoking so much, that on a second thought, someone might think it was burning inside the house.
"Come in" Carityln's feminine voice called out to me.
"Hey, how did you know I was here?" I said, while excusing her to go shut the door behind me. "What is cooking ma'am, I am salivating".
"I saw you pull up in the basement from the window". She said with a smile on her face "I'm only frying chicken for now, you care for some?"
"Uhm, uhm" I nodded in the affirmative. She hands me a piece of fried, crispy chicken as she munches hers.
"Delicious." I couldn't help but ask for more, and she was willing to give it. "You could spend the night here, because the night is going to be long, and we have a long time to catch up on.
"Well, I didn't plan to, though, I'll return home," I said, beckoning her for more chicken. "But, I'll spend the night with you and afterward go home".
The look on Carityln's face changed. I wasn't going to please everybody, and couldn't even do that in the first place, but I love Carityln and was ready to do anything but not sleep over.
"Alright then, if you say so". She did with a tone of finality. "Help me pass the cup of water, I feel a bit choked".
"Here, please" I said, as she collected the water from me to drink. "So, what was that you wanted to tell me in the office?"
"Oh that?" Carityln giggled." I am pregnant with George".
"George Orleans? That guy?" I asked in bewilderment.
"Yes, him." Carityln said excitedly. "He knows about the baby and everything". I was equally surprised, as nobody would have imagined that most Holy-Magdalene-Carityln was pregnant to a man she's not married to. I was genuinely happy for her too, and I was going to be a good aunt.
"Secondly, there's a billionaire in town, he wants a company and I recommended you".
Who is the billionaire, and why does he want me? What connection did he have with Cari?
"Hmmmm" I thought aloud.
"A billionaire?" I said, nonchalantly sipping my drink. "First of all, how do you even know he's a billionaire and not one of those many camouflaged men?" I asked, Carityln as I dropped my cup, looking at her.
