Natalie's Point of View
Cari and I arrived at the party, all glammed up. We had deliberately missed the red carpet, and we knew it wasn't all intentional.
"Hey Nattie" a familiar voice called. I turned around to see Greg. I smiled so hard that my cheeks turned red. "You look fabulous, and your dress is amazing."
"Thank you so much, Greg", I beamed with smiles all over my face. I turned to Cari so she could exchange pleasantries with him, but she was all engrossed in her phone.
"Ohh, please forgive her on my behalf. She has a business email to attend to." I lied, I knew it was so rude to be in a social gathering and be on your phone.
Greg smiled and tapped me playfully and left. "You shouldn't be doing this, you know" I smirked angrily. "I'm sorry, I didn't want to talk to him".
"At least be nice and say hi to him, he doesn't bite" I angrily looked away from her, so I can be part of the program, fully. I readjusted my glasses so well, so they could fit.
"Alright Natty, we shouldn't be logger heads at a party because of my ratchet behavior, I am sorry." Carityln said, putting down her phone in her bag.
"You better be" I said, throwing some bubble gum in my mouth. Caritlyn readjusted her dress and didn't say anything. I knew she was becoming uncomfortable as I wasn't giving her attention as I used to.
The music blared so loud from the speakers, everybody was in a jolly good mood.
"Here he comes, the man of the hour" Cari said, smiling heartily at us.
Wait what? Isn't that the son of the billionaire on our set? Maxine? Maxine Anderson? How did Cari know him?
"Ma.. Maxine?" I slightly stuttered. I pulled my glasses away from my eyes a bit to be sure it was him.
"Yes that's me". He gulped down the contents of his drink a little. He looked at me closely from the shades of his glasses.
"Wait, is that you Natalie??". He said, looking all amused and happy to see me.
"Yes, it's me!!!" We struggled to hug each other, and we held each other for a little. "You're so beautiful Natalie and you haven't changed much. I have missed you so much that I couldn't help it."
"And you couldn't call?'" a mischievous smile played at the corner of my lips. I held him a bit close to me. I had equally missed him too, until I decided to move on with my life.
"What, what is happening here?". Cari asked.
I blushed so hard "This is Maxine Anderson, my only high school crush".
"Wow" Carityln exclaimed "that is the Mr M I have been talking about."
"Wait, what?" I giggled while I laughed so hard. "You needed company?" I said as I turned to Maxine. He laughed lightly.
"Have you guys ordered anything since the party started?" He inquisitively asked as we were just sitting there. Of course, we've not, because how can we when Carityln has been on her phone since we came.
"No, we haven't, it's not been long since we got here". I said, peering into his eyes as he shyly looked away. "You should sit close to me, it's been a minute, Nattie". Maxine said as he pulled me to himself a bit.
"You really haven't changed much since high school". He said, pulling a seat for himself, his red bow tie added to how handsome he already is. "Really?" I exclaimed. I couldn't know whether that was from a place of comparison or from a place of excitement.
"Yes". He said, adjusting his hat. "You became more beautiful with those pearly looking eyes". I couldn't help but blush so hard that Carityln smiled at me and removed her eyes. Maxine held my hand and squeezed it gently.
"So what do you do now?" He asked. "I work for Hopkins and Proctor as their account manager." I didn't even know if I should be proud of my job or just be there. It should be a thing of pride, but Mr Jerkins is in the hospital and that wasn't a job I liked.
"Oh that's good enough". He took out his pipe from his pocket as I watched him smoke and puff the smoke from it into the air. "Do you smoke, Nattie?" .
"No, I don't", I lied. I didn't want to go around town known as the girl who smokes because she's depressed and all. I watched him smoke, and I knew he was the one. His style of inhaling and exhaling it made me wet.
"Well, I manage the family business and, once in a while, I go out for a stroll and that was exactly how I met your friend Carityln". He said, looking at Cari, who smiled back.
Oh no, she has gone back to her phone. This was supposed to be a trio conversation and I really disliked her at that moment. "Maybe we shouldn't have come". I thought to myself.
"Tell me, Natalie". He adjusted his suede jacket. "Are you in a relationship?". I eventually knew it would come out of his mouth soon.
"Well, I am not. I am just on about work. It's been a while since I was in a relationship." I said, I had a bitter taste in my mouth. It was PTSD from John's horrible experience. Sighs.
"I'm equally not in a relationship like you", he said almost in a whisper "Women have shown me issues, and I am tired of getting into any one with anybody at the moment".
I felt so sorry for him. Who wouldn't want him anyway? Tall and broad shoulders with his deep baritone, calculated voice. A part of me tickled, and I couldn't help but secretly goofed as the party went.
"Where's your residence?" He asked again, this time looking at me in what seemed seductively. "Houston?"
"Yes, Houston." I replied impulsively.
I looked at his trousers by mistake, and a hehad already formed. I now want to know what he tastes like, but I will never make the first move.
