"Romantic, my foot!" Luffy muttered with a roll of his eyes as he exited the restroom.
"Luffy, let's play a game!" Uta said, no longer focused on Luffy's odd musings.
Luffy often said strange things that made no sense to her. Even the adults around them seemed confused by his cryptic comments.
"Alright, Uta!" Luffy replied confidently.
After playing a round of chess with her, they had lunch, followed by Luffy practicing his Conqueror's Haki, and then training his body with various exercises—an all-too-familiar daily routine.
…
After more than ten days of sailing, Shanks's crew finally reached Elegia, the Kingdom of Music.
"Uta, we're here! This is the music kingdom! You're going to become a great musician here!" Shanks announced to Uta, who looked eagerly at the island before them.
"The legendary Kingdom of Music!" Uta's eyes sparkled with excitement as she gazed at the island.
"We've finally made it," Luffy said as he looked at the island, with a gun strapped to his waist and a long sword slung over his back—a somewhat unusual look for a kid. Despite his days of training, he still hadn't unlocked his inner Haki.
Stopping Uta from singing the cursed "Demon's Ballad" was Luffy's main goal. He reminded himself why he had come along with Shanks.
In the world of the movies, certain aspects conflicted with the main storyline. Elegia was home to a terrifying musical demon that could be summoned by singing a particular song. This demon's power was on par with the Ancient Weapons, a fearsome force that defied the rules of Devil Fruits. The demon's existence was a reminder that the world of One Piece held mysterious powers beyond what was known.
"Elegia's king is so ugly," Luffy remarked, examining a portrait of King Gordon.
Like many in the world of pirates, Gordon had a unique appearance, with slim arms and legs, a bulky torso, and a rectangular head. Though Luffy knew Gordon was a good person, he found his peculiar shape hard to relate to.
"Luffy, that's rude!" Uta scolded him as they stepped onto the island.
Elegia was a prosperous kingdom, and its residents didn't seem intimidated by Shanks and his crew. They believed the Navy's power would protect them from any rogue pirates.
"I'm Shanks," Shanks introduced himself to the curious crowd. "I'm here to help my daughter find a music teacher. We mean no harm."
"I'm Uta! My goal is to become the world's greatest diva and usher in a new era!" Uta declared proudly, her violet eyes gleaming with confidence.
"As long as you love music, you're a good person," said an elderly man who approached them, speaking on behalf of the island's residents.
"Let's see how good you are. Can you read sheet music?" the old man asked, holding up a standard music book for Uta.
"Of course!" Uta replied, brimming with confidence.
Luffy, meanwhile, was less interested in music. He was more intrigued by art. If he could learn to draw, maybe he could create fun sketches in the future.
"Do you have any art teachers here? I'd like to learn some drawing techniques," he asked.
Elegia was famed for music, but other forms of art were also respected here, so an elderly teacher stepped up to evaluate Luffy's potential.
After a few moments, the art teacher shook his head with a sigh, looking at the sheep Luffy had drawn, which looked more like a strange blob. "You don't have any natural talent for drawing, I'm afraid. Hard work might be your only way forward."
Meanwhile, excited exclamations came from Uta's side of the room. "This child's talent is incredible! We should introduce her to King Gordon!"
Uta's singing ability left the villagers awestruck, so much so that they wanted to introduce her to the king, known as the island's foremost music expert.
"That's fantastic, Uta," Shanks said with a smile.
"Poor Luffy, your drawing is really bad…" Uta giggled as she glanced at his sketch.
"It's just for fun," Luffy retorted with a shrug.
Led by the villagers, the crew made their way toward the island's capital. Luffy observed the Kingdom of Music. To emphasize its theme, the streets were decorated with musical notes, and people played instruments like violins in the squares, performing the famous tune "Bink's Brew."
Thanks to the introduction, the crew easily gained access to the palace.
"His Majesty isn't receiving guests today, so you'll have to wait until tomorrow. In the meantime, you're free to explore the kingdom," a royal guard informed them.
"Luffy, let's go explore!" Uta tugged on his hand, eager to have an adventure in the legendary land of music.
"Just be careful, Uta." Luffy followed her closely, mentally preparing to keep a close watch on her. He needed to monitor when she might encounter the forbidden musical relic.
"Luffy, did you know Elegia is an ancient kingdom?" Uta said as they wandered into a forest. "It's said that, in ancient times, the people of Elegia summoned a terrifying demon through music…"
It was almost common knowledge among higher-ups that Elegia was home to the legendary musical demon.
And in the world of One Piece, legends were often true.
"The people of Elegia were true geniuses," Luffy remarked, impressed. To summon a demon through song was a power akin to a musical nuke—a terrifying weapon. And defeating it was even more challenging, requiring simultaneous attacks from within and without.
If the music demon was bound to the power of a Devil Fruit, it might indeed be a derivative of that power. Luffy thought back to other bizarre abilities, like the painter's Devil Fruit in the future Wano arc, which had allowed its user to create a fire demon that continued to rage even after the user's death.
Luffy shook his head, still baffled by the mysteries of Devil Fruits. This was one reason he'd chosen not to consume the Gum-Gum Fruit. He didn't fully understand the mechanics,
especially the recent trend of abilities persisting even after the user's death.
