Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 Progress

> Mobile Suit Gundam Nova <

December 1st / I.J.C. 194 / Stellar Research's colony. Siga-7 /

Getting off the bus, I make my way toward my house.

"Oh, Little lass got back from school already! Good evening, Young Yoha." Mr.Ode greeted me from his truck, tending to his farm as usual.

"Greetings Mr.Ode." I greeted him politely as usual.

"Eyy, Little lass has grown up already! Come on, You can call me Grandpa Kel like back then. Oh, here take this, My wife baked you some brownies, she said congratulations on whatever competition you are winning."

I take the plastic bag away from him. "Thank you. I will eat it with Mama." I thanked him and chatted briefly before he returned to his farm. I watched as his back slowly distanced away before making my way to the door.

The door was not locked, so Mama was already in there. Walking inside, I announced myself loudly: "I'm back! Mrs. Ode bakes brownies." I was sad as I put down the bag of brownies on the table in the dining room.

"Welcome back! How was school?" Mama yells out from the upper floor, where my room is. I didn't answer her as the answer would be the same as every day.

I plop down on the sofa and turn on the TV to let the News enter my ear as I open my laptop and again absorb into my work.

Right now, I am in the process of training it to respond to everyday scenarios, such as weather or such. It is not hard to make a prompt for it to generate, but what I want is not that. I want something that is more…natural, like how a human would respond, which requires gathering data on emotion and human interaction, which would be easy to find on the internet.

The hard part is emotional gathering. Without the high-end equipment I want there really isn't any way I could translate my heart rate and brain response into it without breaking my laptop, ah…now that I think about it, I need to learn about robotics too, also medicine, no more like Neurologists? I need to understand how my brain waves work, like how it would respond to each action I make, huh…there really is a lot to do when you are alone, isn't it?

Just as I was starting to drift away in my thoughts, a sudden touch on my shoulder sent a chill down my spine and I immediately reacted, slapping away whatever touched me, but I hit nothing.

I look up to see Mama's hand retreat to her side, with a smile on her face, she uses her other hand to pet my head lightly. "Did I startle you, Sorry about that." She still has that smile on her face.

"...no, it's…ok," I said before saving my current progress.

"Ah, right, come Yoha, I will prepare a surprise for you." She said and left without waiting for me, as she walked up toward my room, she turned around to see me still not moving. "What are you waiting for? Not coming?"

"...I'm coming." I leave my laptop behind as I walk behind Mama toward my room, she opens up the door and waits for me to go inside first.

When I walked past her and caught a glimpse of my room, I saw something being covered by a piece of blanket. And from the silhouette of it, I immediately know what it is.

Walking up toward it, I lift up the blanket and throw it toward my bed, the place it was supposed to be, only to see a computer, I look through the case and observe the modification that I want, and from the glance, it was all there, now to see the software.

I booted up the Computer, and it started up in no time at all. Opening up the OS, I quickly scan over the file and as such, there is all the requested software, one which costs money.

"It seems to be all there, honestly I didn't expect you to actually get me this," I said as I opened up the Teria Search engine and quickly entered my User so I could browse what interested me.

"A bet is a bet, Since I lost I must oblige to the rule. Now then you better take care of this thing since it cost a fortune, well…not as much as that doll. Well then, Have fun! Mama needs to go out this evening so order some food."

I give her a thumbs up without looking back, testing the capability of the device.

March 21st / I.J.C. 194 / Stellar Research's colony. Siga-7 /

"Test 162, Model 7, start." As I start my recording, I press the button. Electricity flows from the wire and soon, passes through inside the board, I wait for the result with uncertainty.

Then, just as I was about to lose hope, suddenly, my Computer started to run the Program I designed, without thinking I quickly hopped on and started analyzing the content, my heart beat faster and faster as I watched through countless lines of code.

My hand moves along the keyboard listlessly, and soon slowly calms down as I sign out of relief.

"Test 162, Model 7, success." My smile deepened as I took a look at the little box, the neon light grew under my watch as it slowly changed shape into a cute emoticon, it moved around, scanning the surroundings before the box suddenly moved.

In a straight line to the right, then in a straight line to the left, front and back, spinning, before it stops, I look over at the Data on the computer, reading all the things it observes and turns into data, and I am very satisfied with it.

"Now I can move to the next step, which should be able to move on much easier since the hard part of giving you the eye is over. Ha…All those extra robotic lessons really come in handy, isn't it? Though I think it was quite sloppy with my work."

Leaning on the chair, I allow myself to relax for the first time in 52 hours of constant testing and observation. Slowly, letting my eyes shut, I begin to fall asleep.

September 30th / I.J.C. 194 / Stellar Research's colony. Siga-7 / Araya's POV

"Mama." Araya looks up from her computer and turns toward her back to see her daughter at the door, holding a notebook.

"What is it, dear? Do you have something you want?" She asked as she saved the last of her work, before turning her full attention toward the child, Yoha gave her the notebook book and there was a…blueprint on it.

A little round ball that has 4 hatches for arms and legs, wait, make that 5 since apparently, the face could also open up to reveal a keyboard and a screen, there seems to be a propulsion system on its backend, using compressed air to move, and when on gravity, it rolls around a rolling system that extends out a bit to roll around even on rough surface.

"U-uh…um…Yoha, What is this?" Araya asked, as calmly as she could.

"A robot, more like an AI companion, since I finished making the AI I want a body so it could explore its full potential, but since I'm bad at robotic things I could only rely on you to find a maker for this, after all, I feel like you would have better luck on this than I am," Yoha said calmly as she rubbed her bagged eyes, without even breaking their eye contact.

"So, why do you think I have a connection…?" Yup, she shouldn't have said that.

"We're rich, aren't we? We live in the middle of nowhere even though it is in the colony, surrounded by farms and people won't even come here, if someone actually found us they would have to specifically look for us, and you buy me that AI companion so I think having this much wouldn't be a problem, isn't it?"

Well, that is, she is very observant, though Araya in fact, is not a rich person, she broke, all of this thing isn't even prepared by her so yeah, she broke.

"U-uh huh, then, I will try, ok? But can you tell me how you got this idea?"

"...I don't know. I just think it would fit perfectly for some reason, that was all." The question she asked was answered with a bit of confusion on Yoha's part, she didn't know but she thought of all this. How? No no, let's not ask, it will only confuse her further.

"alright…I will try what I can, ok? But don't expect much." She patted Yoha's head and the girl nodded, making her way back to bed. It was very late so she probably stayed up drawing this. It was a very detailed blueprint that had everything from how it was made and the best material to how some of its mechanisms would work.

"Haro…huh? Why does that name sound familiar…Ah, it's one of those things Yoha often mutters out as a child! Hehe…" Giggling to her old memory, Araya returns to her work happily.
