It was an ordinary evening for me as I finished helping my grandma with her flower store. Once my grandma comes into the kitchen, where I'm currently cooking dinner for us, she smiles and helps me out.
Once the table is set, she looks at me and takes something out of a nearby drawer. "Here you are, Alaire. It's a gift for your hard work."
She hands me a hand mirror, which seems to be rather antique, based on its design. "Thank you, grandma Pallor..." I thank her as I hold the mirror and examine it with a small smile and a gaze full of curiosity.
Once we're done eating, I head into my rather small room and look at the mirror that I got from my beloved grandma. I run my fingers over the symbols on top of the frame.
'How odd... Does this mean something?' I ask myself in my mind as I then touch the glass since it was slightly dirty, and I wanted to swipe off the dirt.
Suddenly, I find myself feeling dizzy. I close my eyes before I open them to get some water. I sit up and freeze. "...What?" I ask nobody as I look around. 'Where am I?'
The bed I'm sitting on is soft and warm like my own, but the room looks very different from my room. It looks old, almost fantasy-like. Just when I get up from the bed, a small, fluffy grey-white bird appears in a window.
"Hello, my dear!" A gentle voice rings in my head, and I immediately look around, but I don't see anyone. The only thing I can see is the unknown room, the small bird, and the mirror from my grandma.
"I'm over here, silly." The voice says as the bird on the windowsill flaps its wings. I wonder if I'm going crazy or if a bird is really speaking to me. I cautiously reach out my hand.
"If you're the voice, fly over here and sit on my palm." I declare as I stare at the bird.
"..." I stand still as nothing happens and then blush as I run a hand through my light brown, almost hazelnut-like, brown hair. "Of course that the bird isn't the voice... I really must be crazy." I mumble to myself in shame and embarrassment.
Unexpectedly, the bird flies over and sits on my shoulder. "Haha, I didn't expect that! I didn't know you'd ever do something so amusing!"
I gaze at the small, fluffy bird perched on my shoulder and sigh, wondering about my mental stability.
"So... Are you really the voice?" I ask with a hint of doubt and uncertainty in my tone as I pet the bird gently, careful not to hurt it.
"Indeed, I am!" The voice answers cheerfully as the bird nuzzles into my gentle touch and nestles down on my shoulder.
I sigh and take a proper look at the bird. "Makes sense. I suppose it explains a few things..." I say and sigh, not continuing my sentence as I'm not sure if this bird is a threat, or if it's harmless.
