The Physicist acted immediately.
And by immediately, I, of course, mean impulsively.
breaking the flimsy knot binding his hands with a flick of his wrists, he flings the first thing in his inventory directly into the face of the masked mayor-the crafting saw. Its sharp edge cut straight through his flimsy mask and sliced halfway through his nose.
The mayor let out a shriek of agony and fell over backward.
Jeb reached for his sword, only a moment too late. Within his elbow was now a whole iron hatchet.
Giving neither a single moment to breathe or even think, our physicist runs over to the cage and breaks the bars of iron with his pickaxe, storing them in his inventory for future use.
He then hoists the crying child onto his shoulder and sprints out of the building.
The child let out a few confused sniffles and jabbed weakly at our physicist a few times, all in avail.
"I gave my whole life for humanity. I will not allow it to be in such a pitiful state again!" Memories of his early days flashed before his eyes.
He remembered the first time he'd gotten the necessary funding to start the construction of the DT machine. The joy he'd felt in that moment, that feeling of great completion, of being hailed as a savior of humanity.
He grinned "No human will die here today." He said firmly. "I will make sure of it.
Unfortunately for our physicist, he ran directly into the chest of one heavily armored villager-Rath.
From behind our physicist sounds the angry roars of the mayor and Jeb.
"CATCH HIM RAATH!" roared Jeb
"EXECUTE THEM ON THE SPOT RATH!" screamed the mayor
Rath's gaze flickered toward toward the expression of our physicist-one glowing with conviction, and steels himself.
Raising his spear up behind him, he murmurs a "sorry" before stabbing down with as much force as he could muster.
The spear whizzes forward, and time seems to slow down for our dear physicist.
He shuts his eyes, and memories of the past few days he spent in this wonderful new world move through his mind.
The distant sound of a strange instrument buzzes through the air.
"Moog city..." our physicist closes his eyes, and smiles calmly in the face of his death. "I lived for humanity, it's only right that I die for it."
fortunately for him, fate seems to have different plans for our physicist, and a loud buzz sounded out from beside him, from the ring on the child's finger, followed immediately by a flash of blinding light.

[the ringed child]
A child with a ring on his finger can be seen throwing up at the foot of a tree at the edge of a dark forest.
[Ring of Malum has consumed a part of your soul.]

[our dear physicist]
Our dear physicist is simply and utterly shocked and confused.
After all, just a moment ago, he was a mere minute from death by impalement, and now he was right back at 0,0, next to his house.
"Huh..." he said, starting at the ground before him, deep in thought. "018, give me a report on what just happened."
"A strange and powerful form of energy different from EU seems to have moved in an unknown manner within the ring of that child to instantaneously transport you here." replied the robotic voice.
"Hmmm..." he hummed, not entirely paying attention to 018.
He thought of the moment between him and the boy-how he was immediately prepared to lay down his life for someone he'd never even spoken to.
It was true that he lived for humanity, and gave a large portion of his life to save them, but this was different.
"That ring..." murmured our physicist. "Perhaps that was the reason?"
He nodded to himself, "Yes that has to be it... A ring that can impact the minds of those who see it, how dangerous..."
He focused himself once more with a slap to his own face.
"018, be on the lookout for any and all villagers, humans or other intelligent life. I do not want to interact with them till I am sufficiently prepared."
"Yes." replied the robot.
Moving the items in his inventory back into his armor-coat and satchel, our physicist started southward once more, this time to mine up those veins of cassiterite sand and chalcopyrite. "018, direct me toward the veins."
"yes." An arrow appeared in our physicist's vision once more.
"Ah before that.." he looked up at the sun. "Shoot it's almost nighttime... "
Our physicist ended up deciding that he would harvest the veins the next day, and walked into his house to fix himself a meal of thinly sliced beef and apples.

The night passed uneventfully, and our physicist sat up slowly in his bed, stretching and equipping his armor and satchel. He made his way to the cassiterite sand vein first. With the tune of "Mice on Venus" playing through his veins, he practically skipped his way there.
"ALRIGHT!!!" He yelled out as he reached the vein. "It's time to get mining!"
Removing his armor, and rolling up his tattered sleeves and jeans, our physicist starts to use his iron mining hammer to slowly, but surely excavate the area, digging down into the earth one layer at a time till he hit blocks upon blocks of cassiterite sand.
"yessss" he chuckled. "Tight...Tight Tight TIGHT!"
He mined up the sand for about 4 hours, accumulating an impressive 7 stacks of it, before he re-equipped his armor and satchel, quickly moving to the location of the chalcopyrite vein, slightly fearful of the village, which was a mere 400 meters away from it, but he still needed the copper, so our physicist moved to the vein, fear tugging at the back of his mind.
Slowly and carefully approaching the vein took him an hour or so, but it was worth it-he was sneaking around close to the vein when he saw a small group of slightly armored villagers-not Rath's group, looking around for something.
"They must be looking for me and that kid...I hope the kid's alright..." murmured our physicist.
Leaving his armor and satchel on this time, he slowly and carefully mined into the vein, making sure he made as little sound as was possible and that he was covering his trail as much as possible without ruining his exit.
Our physicist mines up chalcopyrite and some of the adjacent pyrite {iron} for the next 4 hours, until he had a nice 6 stacks of pyrite and 10 stacks of chalcopyrite.
After that, he rushed out of the hole he dug, swearing to have heard the guards behind him as he rushed back home as fast as he possibly could.
"whew" he sighed.
"Time to truly enter the bronze age" A grin formed on his face.
