Chapter 50 Book 2 The Journey to the Feif
The sun rose over the capital city, its light filtering through the lattice windows of the cold palace. Inside, Li An sat at a small desk, carefully rolling up a map of her newly conferred fief. Her young, delicate hands betrayed none of the power hidden within her petite frame. Behind her, Concubine Su paced nervously, her brows furrowed with worry.
"Must you go alone, Li An?" Concubine Su's voice trembled slightly. "You are but a child, and this world... it is filled with dangers."
Li An smiled gently, her bright eyes meeting her foster mother's gaze. "Mother, I'll be fine. I won't be alone—Misha will accompany me."
"I trust that Misha will take care of your everyday needs, but she cannot help you if someone wants to harm you," Concubine Su countered. "And you refuse to let me come. At least take guards with you."
