**Layla's Point of view
I took out the second letter, and it reads:
"Dear Layla, I had warned you with my first letter, but I definitely know you won't heed my warnings. I see you are overshadowed with your love for that hypocrite Alpha Karl who had betrayed all of us. This isn't the time to blame yourself for anything. If you survive this attack on our family, I want you to claim what's yours, and to do that, you would need every help you can get, Layla. You would be battling with forces so powerful as yourself; to defeat them, ensure you search for the family Soul Armlet hidden in your safe house. Melissa, your mother's sister, would guide you on what to do; look for her. We love you most; goodbye." Tears dropped from my eyes as I finished reading all sentences written beautifully by my father.
I tore the letter into the smallest pieces and splashed everywhere as I moved slowly in the forest of Moonshine. I've not seen any humans, werewolves, or vampires, but I never stop running, utilizing the little blood and energy in my body.
I believe if I'm not running after something, then something might probably be after me.
When I got to the outskirts of the city of Moonshine, my eyes met with a farmstead built with palm trees as the roof and pillars.
The closer I get, my ears are echoed with the voices of a male and female, both of whom are naked, with their whole bodies entangled on a wooden bed.
I gently and quietly peeped through the broken window, waiting patiently for the right time to go in and introduce myself to them, and maybe they might be of great assistance to me.
At that moment, my body and energy begin to fail me, but my inner and intellectual are still active.
I remained calm, and I continued listening to the sound of skin on skin, a gentle caress echoed through the space. A tender gasp escaped her lips as he traced the curves of her body.
The rustle of fabric gave way to the soft thud of clothes hitting the floor. The creak of the bed beckoned, a sensual invitation.
Every breath, every moan, every whispered promise blended into a sultry melody. The rhythm of their hearts beating as one accelerated, pulsating through the room.
Soft murmurs of delight, the sweet sighs of release, and the contented whispers of satisfaction wove a sonic tapestry of passion.
"Oooh, yes, yes, that's it, Antonio. Fuck me harder, harder, baby. Don't stop. I want you more inside me. I want more. Mmm, I love you."
"Slurp! I love you too, Sheila; come on, give me your favorite style." He added and changed the sex position to the doggy style position.
They went on and on for 30 minutes before they stopped, and each of them caught their breath in relief.
They picked up their clothes and sat down beside each other.
"Sheila, why did he invite you to his room this morning?" He asked her and continued putting on his black jacket.
"Who invited me?" Come out straight." She tried to avoid his question.
"I mean, why did King David call only you among all the servants in the whole house?" Antonio repeated himself and made it clearer to her ears, but she just smiled.
"Are you jealous now?" She asked jokefully.
"Why should I not be jealous of the most beautiful woman in Moonshine? I love you so much more than anything in this life, so tell me, am I wrong to be jealous." He said, and Sheila giggled with her shy looks and stood up to pick up her black mask.
She's from Valmort Pack, and they are known to be loyal servants to the Alpha King of Moonshine since the first year of their existence, and they are recognized with a black soft mask on their faces to restrain them from woeining the King.
"My King invited me to his room to request my assistance, which I am not sure I'll be able to grant him because of the love I have for you, sweetheart." She said with her calm voice and sat back on the wooden bed.
"Stop speaking in parables. Sheila, what do you mean by that?" He was eager to comprehend.
"Hmm, King David wants to make an agreement with me, and this agreement is to become his queen until he finds his own mate." Her voice begins to crack as she speaks the truth.
I was carried away by her explanations to Antonio that I mistakenly hit my leg on a broken glass on the ground.
"DING"
The broken glasses sent a distress message into the room to alert both of them.
"Someone is out there watching us; please go." She said as she looked all the way outside the stead.
"There is no one out there; maybe it's just an animal running through the glasses. Let's keep talking, so what would happen to us, and what's your own response to him?" He asked with his doubtful gaze fixed at her.
"I said go now; I'd find a solution to it; we shall meet again." Sheila said as she opened the door for him and watched him race very fast from the spot.
I saw it as an open vessel, so I crept into the room like a snake and appeared like a ghost behind Sheila.
"Oh my God." Her heart almost popped out of her chest.
"Who are you?" She asked with her gaze fixed on my white cloth stained with blood.
"I need your help; don't let me die miserably; I could hear everything you were discussing with your man; I know you are influential enough to get me into Moonshine." I brought my knees down on the ground for her.
"What happened to you?" She looks shocked, as though she's seeing a ghost for the first time.
"It's a long story, my lady. I was chased from Craftanwood by a group of assassins who wanted to kill me, but I escaped with the help of my guard. I was pregnant, but not anymore." I briefly narrated to Sheila.
"Pregant?" she asked.
"The blood on me belongs to my unborn child." I grieve with my trembling voice.
"It saddens my heart to hear such, miss. I know how badly you feel right now; it's the worst thing that could ever happen to a mother." She uttered.
Then a crazy idea struck her head.
Sheila reminisced on what the King had requested and how she had been thinking so hard for a way out.
"What is your name, miss?" Sheila asked.
"I am Layla Adolphus." I quickly replied.
"Are you the same Layla, the princess of Craftanwood, whose poster is everywhere for killing her own family and injuring her own sister before she fled?" She muttered to me.
"Yes, but all allegations made aren't true; it's the work of my father's brothers, 'Alpha Malakai' and Alpha Karl, who killed my unborn child." My anger aroused as I explained to her.
Meanwhile, my emotional states and body weakness made me fall to the floor unexpectedly, and then Sheila quickly rushed to me.
She raced to a wooden table; she brought an alcohol bottle; then she tore a piece of her white gown and poured a drop of the alcohol in it, then put the small piece on my nose.
I woke up on sniffing the gaseous smell of the alcohol.
When my eyes opened, Sheila asked the unexpected question.
"Can you be a queen to my king?" She asked, but I didn't comprehend what she meant.
"Can you pretend to be me and become the queen to King David of Moonshine?" She added.
Although I still don't understand her words, I'm ready to do anything at that moment.
"I can do anything just to survive and avenge the death of my family." I quickly grabbed the opportunity, even though I don't know if what she's offering is dangerous or a bad idea.
Then she began to explain everything to me in detail.
"King David needs me to become his queen because the elder of our city can't honor a king without his own mate, and ever since his father died he had been on the throne without a mate to mark, so now he has a deadline, and that makes him strike an agreement with me to pretend to be his mate in order to be fully honored and recognized by the people; once you use this mask, nobody will recognize that it's not me." Sheila said confidently before she stretched her hand and handed over the mask to me.
I was fully ready to go anyway to gain back my strength and fight back.
She taught me everything I needed to know at that moment before she went away.
She told me what to do when I entered the royal mansion, and she advised that I should approach the king immediately and acknowledge the agreement before he seeks another person.
She gave me her address if I needed more assistance from her in the future.
She directed me to the royal mansion before our body and soul went separate ways.
As I stepped into the grand royal mansion, the heavy wooden doors swung shut behind me, enveloping me in an aura of opulence.
I approached the throne room in the arsh-colored royal attire Sheila had given me, where the majestic young King David sat, his piercing gaze commanding attention. His chiseled features and strong jawline seemed chiseled from granite, while his piercing blue eyes sparkled with a hint of curiosity.
"Sheila," the king's deep voice boomed.
"It's an honor to see you have come back after you hastily left my room because of what I requested from you." His face fixed on me as he spoke.
I curted gracefully, my heart racing with anticipation.
Your Majesty," I replied, with my voice trying to steady.
"Rise, Sheila, I have chosen you for a reason; I've known you to be different among all my servants, so come, let us speak." The king's gaze lingered on me, as if searching for something.
With a wave of his hand, he beckoned me closer, drawing me into a world of intrigue and power.
"Even though I couldn't see your face, I know you are beautiful inside and out, and that's why I chose you to be my queen, but I don't want you to get it twisted; it's just an agreement; I don't want you to get any strange feelings. Once I am recognized, I'll rrange for how you will be taken care of." King David said and smiled.
Then suddenly my vision blurred, my legs buckling beneath the marble-tiled floor. The king's grasp tightened, but he couldn't prevent my fall. I crumpled to the marble floor, my body limp.
''Layla!'' King David exclaimed, alarm etched on his face. He knelt beside me, cradling my head in his lap.
