Chapter 3 - ALEX & THE DIARY

Christine let out a scream, her mom trying to assure her that there was nothing to worry about. Layla looked like she had seen a ghost; she looked so pale she excused herself, "Excuse me, I'll be going to my room now.". She took her phone and stumbled on the stairs on her way to her room. She replied to the earlier text that was sent to her before, "Alex, you saw the news," and opened the door to her room. She dropped the phone on her bed and ran straight to the bathroom to wash her face and prepare for nighttime. She murmured to herself, I wonder what Alex is doing right now.

Alex has been Layla's friend for about 5 years now; they are both 11th graders, and they met in 7th grade.

Layla, dressed in her pyjamas, jumped on her bed and checked the text she sent to Alex; he had already replied. "I saw it; did Christine watch it with you? I hope she's not too traumatised.".

Layla: "I hope she is fine; she screamed when the vanishing thing happened."

Alex: "You think it's real or all fake? "

Layla: "It looked pretty real to me."

Alex: "Have you wondered where the cloud would go next?"

Layla: "No, Alex, stop it; you are scaring me."

Alex: Sorry, good night."

Layla: "The same to; see you at school tomorrow."

Layla stared at her phone for a moment and fell asleep.

The next day (5:20 am)

"Oh shoot, my geography homework." Layla stops the alarm, runs to the bathroom, washes her face, grabs her book from under her pillow, and goes to her desk to start the assignment. Layla could not concentrate, so she goes to brush her teeth and go and sit on the balcony staring at the sky. I hope that the fog thing doesn't get here soon. She goes inside back to get a diary.

Dear Diary,

An absurd event happened yesterday, it shook me to the core even Christine. I bet my parents were also shaken but not as much as Christine, she looked so horrified. I wish I could have done something to help her. If this is the end of the world, I would try my best to protect everyone.

If I get to school tomorrow, I would ask all my classmates, "who watched Yesterday's news".

Bye, gotta get to my geography assignment.
