Chapter 1 - Shattering Facades

A boy with deep set black eyes and obsidian hair leaned against a tree, his schoolbag lying nearby.

"Haa…"

He sighed, not wanting to return home or go to school, to keep his envious thoughts to himself.

Recently, he had noticed the difference in which his parents treated his siblings and him.

Something he didn't want to believe.

He just couldn't accept it!

Alas, all fantasies break and so did his of an ideal family.

Unwillingly, a tear slid down his cheek as he muttered in a hoarse voice, "Why does no one love me?"

His question wasn't to himself or anyone else, it was just an outlet of his messy emotions.

Only he, himself, didn't know that he was teetering on the brink of collapse.

He couldn't understand why everyone in his family could be excellent beasttamers… except for him.

It really broke him apart after he discovered that he seemed to have no talent for beasttaming or any affinity with them.

"I'm going to be 18 soon…"

His choked on his words, knowing it was the time for one's first beast, but self-doubt creeped in.

Due to his agitated emotions, he failed to notice the sense of drowsiness until he fell asleep in a complicated mood.

Out of nowhere, two men wearing strange masks and completely covered in clothes appeared.

"Are you sure about this?"

One of them asked doubtfully as the other checked on the sleeping boy.

"Shut up! Just do your job!"

The first guy grunted but said nothing further before the two of them vanished with the boy.

"Ughhh"

A grunt escaped his lips as his hands involuntarily stretched to scratch his neck, before waking up and sitting up.

"Where am I?"

He asked, his eyes blinking in confusion at the unknown scenery.

Yet the intoxicating aroma around him made him grow more anxious by the second.

His body seemed to be getting heated up for no apparent reason, and he found himself unable to do anything about it.

Since he was in an unknown place, he wouldn't dare to drink or eat anything.

Not that he had anything around him…

'Was I kidnapped for ransom?'

'Did I get trafficked or sold off?'

'Did I offend someone? Is this their revenge?'

Just as he was busy making wild guesses, the door parted open, revealing the form of an alluring womem entering.

Followed by the women in scanty clothing was a girl who seemed to be out of her mind.

'Xian! What are you doing?!'

The boy, Xian, chided himself as his breath hitched after seeing the women for a few seconds before he finally looked away.

Due to this window, he couldn't even ask anything and by the time he came to, there was just that strange girl around him.

Instantly his mind froze.

'Damn! Am I going to get forced by a women?!'

In all his life, he planned to have free love, so what was this situation?

Only… it was nothing but his narcissism.

'No, no! How is that possible?'

He clearly remembered that no one should know his family background as that was what his siblings told him.

"There's no need to tell them, or they might do bad things to leech off you!"

Those were the exact words from his elder brother which he took to heart.

Yet, looking at the girl in front of him, he couldn't help but have doubts.

Slowly, his face froze after getting a good look at her face.

'Fuck! Why does she resemble me!? Did my parent have illegitimate children or something?'

'No! How could that be!'

He felt that even the thought was outrageous.

However, he had to calm down and think things through and finally recalled the disparity between his looks and his parents.

But… the possibility of him not being their child seemed far fetched.

Sadly, it was the truth and he would soon come to realise that.

As if those thoughts were a trigger, a wave of nausea overcame him, almost making him fall from the bed.

Distant unknown memories flooded his his mind as he broke out in a cold sweat.

"What!? I am just trash?" he seem to be questioning himself, unable to figure out if life was worth it or not.

"No! I can't lose all hope!" He exclaimed, wanting to fight the injustice he was dealt with.

"And there's no way it's true, right?"

Unable to accept the situation, he wanted to confront everyone.

Unfortunately, he couldn't do that now.

The set of memories were actually nothing but his own memories which were somehow sealed?

By his parents!

"No. They aren't my parents!"

His eyes turned cold as the years of deception finally unveiled itself, allowing him to see things objectively.

It turned out he had discovered the secret of him not being related to his parents at the age of 8.

But his mother found out and got someone to seal his memories forever.

"Now, I understand the disjointed feeling around her and everyone!"

Xian gritted his teeth, wanting nothing more than tearing them apart.

At only 6, he could play around with his parent's ferocious tamed beasts, something his siblings still couldn't do…

They still needed the supervision of their parents to guarantee safety but he could do it alone as a fucking toddler!

The difference was too vast!

What's worse, he couldn't even be close to the weakest beast currently, showing how things had changed because of his 'dear parents'.

However, his worldview was a bit constricted, unable to think of the cause and effect in one go.

It was not something he could comprehend.

Whether that was because of his lacking education or purposeful straying from such things, was still up for debate.

But one thing was for sure, he wanted to take revenge!

Just as his eyes turned cold, he glanced at the dazed girl opposite him and couldn't help his heart skip a beat.

It wasn't the romantic kind, though.

Somehow he felt a connection with her, but before he could do anything, a whirlwind of memories assaulted him again…
