The plan was rather simple: destroy the Heartstone, cut its influence over Eldoria, and bring an end to the binge of corruption by this world. However, there stood one important problem: the Heartstone had been guarded by an army of shadows, beings born out of pure darkness bred from the power of the Heartstone. Aiden and Lyra were getting ready for the army as Caelum was spotted, his staff raging with electricity.
We have lost too much time," Caelum urged. "The power of the Heartstone is already beginning to resonate throughout all of Eldoria. We need to hurry.".
The three made their way toward the Heartstone but as they did, the shadows closed in, their forms taking definition, monstrous shapes—beasts, their eyes black as coal, their limbs twisted.
They roared in concert as they moved toward Aiden and his friends.
"We can't fight them all," Lyra cried.
Aiden came back firm, his voice level. "We don't have to."
"Caelum," he said, his eyes flung ahead.
With a wave of his hand, Caelum unleashed a flood of magical energy, shooting a blast of light and fire into the ranks of the shadows. They screamed in agony, but the creatures kept moving forward.
"Stand your ground!" Aiden ordered. "I'll destroy the Heartstone!
Aiden lunged forward, the Guardian's Blade at the ready, high in the air. As he approached the Heartstone, shadows closed in around him, dark claws stretching out to snatch him into their clutches. But he fought back, his blade slicing through the air, every hit burning with the light of the Guardian's will.
Finally, with a mighty scream, Aiden plunged the Guardian's Blade into the Heartstone. The cavern shuddered as the Heartstone cracked open, its dark energy unraveling in a blinding explosion of light.
There was nothing but silence for a moment.
And then the darkn
ess began to dissipate.
