he man rushed in and bent down beside the bed. He looked tired as well, but there was a smile on his face.
"It's a boy, honey," the woman said to him.
The man seemed to have no words. He gently took the baby from her and looked over him closely.
"Welcome to the world, Alex."
---
Three months passed, and Alex was unable to really do anything as he was always inside the house. For some reason, they didn't want to let him see the outside yet.
But Alex was smart. He picked up little information here and there, and he had an image of what was going on around him.
The world he was on was called Tera, a world ravaged by what was called the Darkness. The Darkness came to the world over a thousand years ago.
It brought along corruption and destruction, with beings called the Dark Crawlers spreading across the world.
From what he picked up as well, he discovered that every human born after the coming of the Darkness was born with what was called the Light.
The Light was the source of humanity and hope, because as long as humans exist, Light exists, and then there is still hope.
Alex also discovered that his father, Lucas, was a scientist who worked on something called the Marine Project.
It was said to be a project that helps humanity fight against the Darkness.
As for his mother, Sofia, she was just a normal housewife who seriously doted on her baby boy.
He didn't fully understand the time of this world because he slept at any time really, but it seemed like it was similar to Earth's time. There was a lot that he was yet to know about the world, but he had some time to learn, or so he thought.
That night, Alex was put to rest by his mom. She stayed with him until he fell asleep and then left. As he slept, he began to hear a voice calling to him.
It was a sinister and evil-sounding voice; it repeated his name until his eyes opened. He realized that he wasn't lying down on his bed anymore, but he was floating in mid-air.
A black liquid-like substance was surrounding him, flowing around like tendrils.
"What... what is this?" he asked. Immediately after he asked, the energy became wild and moved to attack him. It latched onto his face and was trying to seep into his head through his nose and mouth.
Then suddenly, Alex heard another voice in his head.
[Detected Darkness Overclocking]
[Defensive measures activated]
He felt a force push against the dark tendrils until they left his face and retreated. The tendrils all dissolved, and Alex fell back onto the bed.
"What the hell just happened?"
[You were overclocking your Darkness past the threshold]
The voice responded, and this time a purple holographic screen came up with the same message on it.
Alex was a smart person, and he had already been through a lot—from the reincarnation to a world that had some sort of fantasy war going on, to flying mid-air at night. So a screen in his face was not all too shocking.
It looked like some sort of virtual reality screen of sorts from Earth. He tried to touch it, but his short baby arms could not reach it.
After a bit of time, the screen interface changed.
[System has been fully synchronized]
[You have a message, do you wish to read it?]
Alex couldn't really understand what was happening, but he decided to accept and see.
"Yes, I do."
[Congratulations on finally awakening the system. I know you may be confused as to what is going on right now and how you are in this world.
For now, all that is beyond you, and you don't need it. Normally, this system was made to help you in this new world, but when you arrived in the body, there was a huge amount of Darkness found in your body.
So the system took longer to synchronize as it was adapting to your Darkness-filled body. Over time you will come to understand the system and your powers better, so survive.]
The message held no details about who sent it, or anything that could be really useful to Alex. It only allowed him to know that he was filled with Darkness and that he gained a system to help him.
In the short three months that he had stayed here, he understood that Darkness was feared by all; everyone was terrified by it.
If anyone found out that there was a child filled with Darkness, they would definitely kill him.
So Alex decided that he would do his best to train this power to help protect himself while still hiding it from everyone, even his parents.
He couldn't trust anyone easily; he stood the risk of dying and dragging his new family along with him, which could end up getting them killed.
His fear of loneliness and abandonment was still deeply etched into his soul, and even if this was another world, he couldn't get rid of that.
He didn't want to be alone in this world, so he had to do what he needed to do.
The screen changed from the message to a stat screen, showing his name and some other information.
Name: Alex Parker

The information was not much, but Alex could understand what was written here. According to the message, he had a huge amount of Darkness.
The system was seemingly trying to ensure that he had equilibrium so that the Darkness would not take over.
The rest of the information was something anyone that had picked up a game would know.
What drew his attention was the skill that he saw at the bottom: Circulation.
[Circulation: A breathing technique used to absorb Darkness from the surroundings to strengthen the body ana increase Darkness capacity.]
