The Eternal Guild players, chatting casually, were on their way back to their guild base. They were almost there, feeling confident in their choice for the new farm site.
A few players suddenly sensed something odd and turned to look toward the forest.
Just at the edge of the dense trees, a small wolf pup was wandering around, sniffing the ground with curiosity.
"Huh? Wolves in this forest?"
"I've been here plenty of times, but I don't recall seeing any wolves around."
"Yeah, I haven't either. Anyone have any bones on them? We could try taming it and take it back."
"Lucky for you, I do. Here, take one."
It just so happened that wolves rarely appeared near the Eternal Guild's base.
So naturally, a wild wolf was a valuable find.
After a quick huddle, the players agreed to tame it.
One of them, with the in-game name Pengpeng, took a bone and cautiously approached the pup.
At first, the wolf pup instinctively backed away, ready to bolt. But then, as if reconsidering, it stopped in its tracks and acted more like a curious, wandering pup.
"Come on, come on, here's a bone for you!"
Pengpeng offered the bone to the little wolf, who sniffed it cautiously before chomping it down.
The wolf pup returned to its casual wandering.
Pengpeng, undeterred, pulled out another bone and held it out.
Once again, the wolf pup sniffed, then ate it.
This routine continued for about two minutes.
"What the hell? Is my luck that bad?"
"Thirty bones, and still no luck taming it?!"
Hearing this, the wolf pup started to panic a bit but forced itself to nibble on the thirty-first bone that Pengpeng grudgingly offered.
The little wolf barely finished when Pengpeng brought out yet another bone.
"Good thing I came prepared. I still have about twenty bones left. But if it doesn't work after that, I'm done."
The wolf pup froze, clearly distressed. It forced down the last bone but couldn't stomach another. The little guy plopped down, wagging its tail furiously at Pengpeng, as if begging for mercy.
Pengpeng blinked, a bit puzzled by the pup's behavior.
"Huh? Did I finally tame it?"
"Shouldn't a collar pop up when it's tamed?"
The other players gathered around, curious and skeptical.
"Look, it's sitting and wagging its tail. I think that means it's tame, right?"
"Maybe it's a bug? Maybe the collar isn't showing?"
"Try giving it commands. If it listens, that's a sign it's tamed."
Encouraged by their comments, Pengpeng gave the wolf pup a few basic commands. To his surprise, it obediently followed each one.
"Wow, it's really tame! Guess I fed it so fast, the collar didn't load properly."
Satisfied, Pengpeng decided to skip any collar drama.
"Alright, from now on, your name is 'Little Bug.' Got it?"
With their new "Little Bug" in tow, the group headed back to the Eternal Guild's base.
As night fell, a figure was lurking near the forest, glancing anxiously towards the entrance.
Suddenly, a distant wolf howl echoed through the trees.
Instantly, the figure—a zombie—rushed toward the sound. Not far away, the wolf pup was barreling toward him, panting heavily, a bit of a bulge in its belly.
"Hoo hoo!! Hoo hoo hoo!!"
The zombie immediately knelt and checked the pup all over, as if worried it might be hurt.
The little wolf licked his face, reassuring him with soft whimpers.
Once he was sure the pup was safe, the zombie seemed relieved but also annoyed. He started scolding the pup, gesturing in frustration.
The little wolf's ears drooped, looking guilty yet defensive.
"Hoo hoo…"
"Whimper…"
"Hoo!"
"Whimper whimper!!"
The two continued their heated exchange, neither side backing down. The wolf pup was so determined that, with a heavy sigh, the zombie finally gave in.
"Hoo…"
The wolf's tail wagged excitedly as it realized it had won. Happily, it licked the zombie's face and then bounded back toward the Eternal Guild's base.
Watching the pup leave, the zombie looked thoughtful.
In his hand, he held a small black collar. He gripped it tightly, clearly torn between worry for the pup and the need to let it go.
He tilted his head to the sky.
Above, the moon was hidden behind clouds, with only a few stars visible. But two stars close together shone especially bright, like a pair of glowing eyes.
The zombie stared at the stars, lost in thought, until he seemed to come to a resolution. With a final look at the night sky, he let out a fierce, determined howl.
"Hoo hoo!!!!"

Back at the main camp, Xu Yuan was hard at work on his monster-spawning tower. He'd spent an entire in-game day, which was six hours, on the project.
Turns out, even with flight abilities, building this tower wasn't as quick as he'd hoped.
The amount of resources needed for a large tower was far beyond what Xu Yuan had expected. In creative mode, he'd only needed to pull materials from his inventory. But in survival mode, the demand for supplies was huge, and all he usually built were small towers. This large-scale project in survival mode was a whole other level.
Still, hard work pays off.
The tower was finally close to completion, with only the killing mechanism left to add.
Initially, Xu Yuan hadn't planned on adding one. But considering all the effort he'd put in, he decided to add a collection device, too. Piglins drop gold nuggets and ingots, after all, which he could trade with the piglins themselves for useful items. He just had to tame a piglin, let it reach a basic or intermediate level of consciousness, and then it could handle the trading itself.
Currently, Xu Yuan hadn't encountered any villages or villagers yet.
So, the piglin trading system was his best option for now.
Over the past few days, Xu Yuan kept tabs on news from the Cloud SoarGuild.
It amazed him—they'd been grinding in that Nether Fortress for six hours! By now, they could've disassembled and rebuilt the place.
"They're still in there?!" he muttered, barely able to contain his disbelief.
Exploring Nether Fortresses was routine for an experienced player like Xu Yuan. But for the Cloud Soar Guild, it was another story. Every step demanded caution, especially in such a massive, maze-like fortress, full of twists and turns.
The guild members had gotten lost countless times, so speed was out of the question.
Seeing no signs of them leaving, Xu Yuan left a clone to monitor their progress and returned to the Overworld to gather more materials for his killing mechanism.
After about an hour, he'd collected everything he needed and got back to work on the monster-spawning tower.
Another hour passed, and the tower was finally done.
Just then, his clone signaled something.
"Finally, they're done exploring…"
"That fortress was insane! So many monsters in there!"
"I'm dead tired, but the loot was insane!"
"Totally worth it! I just hope there's another fortress out there. Imagine the haul…"
The Cloud Soar Guild players wrapped up their fortress run, chatting excitedly about their spoils.
Just then, Yun Li, the guild leader, walked over with a smile.
"Great job, everyone."
"The haul this time is thanks to all your efforts."
"These materials will be divided among everyone as needed."
Being a skilled leader, Yun Li knew how to keep morale high.
Hearing his words, the players cheered, energized by the promise of rewards.
