May spooned some chocolate lava cake and put it in her mouth. She slowly closed her eyes as the chocolate goodness melted in her mouth, her taste buds screaming, thank you. Her beautiful long lashes fell over her Amber honey eyes as she let out a soft sigh, still relishing her dessert. Her presence radiated so much peace and serenity as she basked in the warmth of contentment. Since her first date with Liam Calton, three months after her 'break up' with Brian, she'd looked at every day with more and more optimism. When she made her discovery of Brian using her and her family's name to gain relevance amongst his friends and to prove that he was a bad boy, she decided to take her mother's preaching more seriously - men need submissiveness, not love, and every woman needs a provider, not a roommate. Now that she was with Liam, she knew she should never have gotten herself involved with someone who couldn't even buy her decent flowers.
Arya's fitting session was over and she was relaxing by the pool speaking to her bestie, Tara, on the phone, "the five-star Hotel is a better option", Arya said, she waited for a response and then added, "Yeah, sure. the wedding planner is sorting all that out, outfits are all sorted out..." they chatted for a bit, all about Arya's bridal shower which was three weeks away closely followed by the wedding three days after. Elaborate preparations were already being made. Many and Liam had decided to wait and know each other more, probably getting married next summer. Planning Arya's wedding was the family's top priority at the moment. Bradfield Fernández, the best wedding planner in town, was set to plan a fanfare, a display of extravagance and high-end scenery. An elaborate bridal shower, a beachside cocktail party, a luxury-end wedding ceremony and finally, a scrumptious reception on a private island were swiftly but conveniently arranged, all set to happen in a five-day affair. What was more, the Wellingtons were paying for the whole thing.
Her grip on the phone became tighter as she listened to Ross' husky voice, through her AirPods. "I'm so sorry dear, I won't be able to make it, for our date, well something came up, can we do this another time?" she was still silent, holding onto her phone as if it would take away the pain and anger inside her "Okay we'll talk later, love you". He hung up. She threw the phone on the bed and did the same with the AirPods. She was about to yank off her earrings when she heard a knock," you may come in", she said coolly, with the last ounce of patience left inside her. Silence. The knock came again. This time she gathered all the fury inside her and headed for the door. She twisted the khob angrily and opened the door," who is..." "Easy there, princess". Ross?. Yes, it was him smiling from ear to ear in his Armani tuxedo and holding a bouquet of white roses! She didn't know what to say or how to react. He entered the room, knelt to help her put on her shoes, stood up, held her hand and gently led her out of the room and downstairs. It was dark and then, click, the lights came on. The living room was adorned with the pinkiest balloons and ribbons Arya had ever seen, and crystals, also pink, hung from the ceiling; it was like a Barbie fairytale. Her family and his were there, aswell as her bestie Tara and May's fiancé, Liam
"We never had an engagement party, even though it's now roughly two weeks to our wedding,I thought why not?"
They moved to the dance floor after exchanging engagement rings. As they glided and and their bodies swayed in the rhythm, everything ceased to exist except them, their eyes locked . Arya was too happy to say anything, if other matches were made in heaven hers was made in heaven and money. If only she knew this happiness what short-lived.
