May let out a loud painful scream which caused both Arya and her husband to pause and look at her. They looked at her curiously like they would a mad woman. She stepped into the room and reached out to hold her sister. She saw bruises, ugly bruises on Arya's delicate face . With tears streaming down May's face, she screamed louder than she had done the first time. "May, babe, you're dreaming. Wake up, May." Liam's voice echoed in her ears.
May opened her eyes as she held on to the duvet tightly. She was completely drenched in sweat and her heart wasn't just racing,it was threatening to come out of her chest. Liam's voice visited her ears again as he tried to calm her. He hugged her tightly and whispered gently to her ears,"it was just a dream,I'm here okay". "Gosh, Arya, I need to see if she's okay ,her face". ! May tried to stand up and leave the room, but Liam held her. "Now breathe, breathe. What is it sweetheart? It's five in the morning. Where are you going to?". " Liam, just let me, allow me to go check on my sister, she is not fine. Ross is hitting her, and she wore heavy makeup to hide the bruises from me". May said with tears rolling down her soft red cheeks.
Liam smiled softly. He hugged her again and refused to let go." I don't know where this is going ,but I assure you, dreams are not real"." But I saw him,I saw her. Poor Arya was so scared and..." Liam interrupted her, "it's just a dream. Whatever you saw was a dream, okay love?" But May wasn't having it, she wanted to see her sister immediately. It took Liam an hour to calm her down and another thirty minutes to convince her not to go to Arya and Ross's room. She agreed to wait till it was breakfast time. He cuddled her till she fell as sleep.
Ross was feeding Arya some banana pancakes while she was on his lap, when May and Liam came downstairs. They exchanged quick looks, Liam raised his eyebrows as if to tell May, "I told you they were doing great"." Looks like the love birds finally got out of bed", Ross teased them as they got seated on the table. May looked at Arya gently, still unable to let go of her horrid dream. "Well, it looks like you guys finally got over breakfast in bed", Liam teased back and that made Arya giggle softly. May hadn't smiled all morning, and she didn't find anything amusing even as Liam tried to lighten things up with a few jokes.
It was their final day in Tuscany as their honeymoon had come to an end. They decided to go on a spa date. The ladies had an exfoliating session with pearl and diamond scrubs. They had their manicure and pedicure done. It was a complete makeover. As the nail artists were painting their nails, May contemplated telling Arya about the nightmare she had three nights ago. The nightmare hadn't occurred again, and she had already moved on, telling herself that her mind was playing games on her. What prompted her was the peach infused water the butler served them that afternoon in the same drinking glasses that featured in her dream. She decided to wait till she and Arya were alone, and she got that chance when they were in the sauna. The men had had quick massages and left to tame some horses in the castle's stable.
"Twin, well there's something I need to tell you". May said after a brief moment of hesitation. "Really ,what is it?" Arya asked sweetly, her attention on her brightly painted nails. May hesitated again. Should she tell her of that awful ordeal? What will that result in? She looked at her sister again, who was oblivious of her stares.Arya looked radiant and May concluded that it was either as a result of the just completed spa session or it was the honeymoon glow. Why wouldn't she glow? She had a rich, romantic husband who pampered her like a princess. What she was about to tell her weighed heavily on May's heart as she inwardly admired the beautiful necklace that Ross had romantically put round her sister's neck during the pool party they had the previous evening. May almost changed her mind ,but she told herself that Arya's response and reaction to it would signal if she was truly happy or not.
May touched an expensive diamond earring just as Arya turned to look at her and ask her why she was silent. Arya's eyes followed May's hand and landed the earrings. She recalled that those earrings were paired with a simple, equally expensive necklace. She wondered why May had so much jewelry. She hadn't worn a set twice for the thirteen days they'd been there. She understood that Liam and his family were wealthy, but this amount of wealth was beyond her imagination. She was impressed.
"May speak up, what's on your mind". May readjusted herself on the recliner for the umpteenth time, she then spoke up, "Sis, how are you and Ross?", she asked finally ,not sure if this was the best way to start. "I don't understand sis, we're fine obviously, what's up with you, is anything wrong?",Arya asked frantically, her voice signaling worry for the first time since their conversation started.
"Well, what I mean is...is he doing anything,I mean is he abusing you?" The worry on Arya's face quickly changed to annoyance. What the heck does this lady mean? She asked herself. "Well, Arya I don't mean this in a bad way or...the thing is, I had this nightmare a few days ago.", she paused to put her words together in her head before speakin "Ross was hitting you, and you were badly hurt, and I was so scared for you and..." Arya patiently waited for May to complete her tale , she smiled ,concealing what she felt inside her and said softly, "sis, it's only a dream. Ross and I are perfectly happy, he cares about me alot even after letting him down on our wedding day and constantly reminding him of my past relationship with Haydar, he has been so patient with me". May sighed. Of course, Ross hadn't given her any reason to doubt his love for her sister. She felt warm tears on her cheeks,"Sis, I'm so glad to hear that. I was so worried when you hurt yourself in the kitchen the other day that I let my mind play tricks on me".
Arya smiled and said " thanks for caring twin. I also have something to tell you". "I'm listening," May said attentively while looking at her sister. Arya hesitated for a moment, her face displaying worry, she was unsure and May felt her confidence slowly slipping away as fear and uncertainty grabbed her in turns. Arya held her sister's hand and started speaking.
