Ethan glanced at the freshly acquired adventurer guild card in his hand. It was a simple, yet sturdy, piece of enchanted wood that had his details engraved into it. The card glowed faintly with a soft blue light, a sign of its magical properties.
[ Adventurer Guild Card ]
Name - Ethan Maxwell
Rank - B
Party - None
Job Completed - None
Ethan read over the details once more. His rank was B, which was quite impressive for someone of his age, considering the guild's rigorous evaluation process. However, there was still much more to be done before he could consider himself a true adventurer. His job completion status was still empty, but that would change soon enough.
He slipped the card into his pocket and looked around at the bustling town. Swan Town was not large, but it had its charm. The sounds of vendors calling out to customers and children playing in the streets filled the air. Adventurers from all walks of life gathered in the square, exchanging stories and looking for jobs. It was a peaceful scene, yet Ethan could sense the underlying excitement that came with the lifestyle of an adventurer.
"System," Ethan thought to himself as he began walking toward the inn. "Did you collect the information about this world?"
[ Yes, I have gathered extensive data about this world, including its regions, cities, and the major factions. Would you like a summary? ]
Ethan nodded, but before he could ask for a detailed report, he felt a soft tug on his sleeve. Looking down, he saw Calyra, his Sylphorwing, perched on his shoulder. Her golden eyes glimmered, and she chirped softly in response to his thoughts.
"No need for a summary right now," Ethan said with a smile. "We'll explore things as we go. Let's get to the inn first."
He continued walking through the cobblestone streets of Swan Town, following the system's directions toward the inn it had marked as the best in the area. It wasn't a grand building, but it was cozy, with warm lights spilling out from the windows and the smell of freshly baked bread wafting through the air.
As he entered, the innkeeper, a portly man with a jovial face, greeted him warmly. "Ah, welcome, young adventurer! Looking for a place to rest?"
"Yes," Ethan replied. "I'll take a room for the night."
The innkeeper nodded and handed him a key. "Room five, upstairs. Make yourself comfortable. If you need anything, just let me know."
Ethan thanked the innkeeper and made his way to the second floor, where he found a modest room with a simple bed, a desk, and a window overlooking the town square. He set his bag down on the bed and opened the window, taking in the fresh air.
Calm and content, Ethan sat down on the edge of the bed, placing his guild card on the desk. He glanced at it once more before setting it aside. There was a lot of work to do before he could consider himself ready for the challenges ahead.
[ You have unlocked a new objective: "Complete your first guild job." ]
The system's voice echoed in his mind, reminding him of the task ahead. Ethan couldn't help but smile. It was time to get to work. But for now, he was content to relax for the night, knowing that tomorrow would bring new opportunities and challenges.
"Tomorrow," Ethan whispered to himself, "we begin our adventure."
With a contented sigh, he lay down on the bed, closed his eyes, and drifted off to sleep, ready to face whatever the next day would bring.
