Chapter 61 - Answers & Story

*************************

Arashikage Clan

Lucian looked at the kid before turning his gaze to the man inside the room.

"She's been waiting for you to come back," Ken Yukimura said, looking at Noshiko with a soft smile.

"Are you Lucian?" Ken asked as he turned towards Lucian. He thought to himself, 'He's bigger than I thought.' Ken was aware that Lucian was only nine years old, yet he was taller than expected. He extended his hand toward Lucian.

"Ken Yukimura," he said, smiling warmly at Lucian in a friendly gesture.

Lucian glanced at Ken's hand, then looked at Noshiko and the others, who still had their masks on, raising an eyebrow in curiosity.

Seeing Lucian's reaction, Ken's eyes widened, sensing his mistake. He looked at Noshiko. "You guys haven't introduced yourselves?" His tone turned cautious as he realized he had slipped up.

Noshiko rolled her eyes at her husband while holding Kira's hand. "Let's go inside first; the kid probably has questions." She led Kira into the room.

Kira, being pulled along, couldn't help but curiously look at Lucian, the only other kid in the group.

Lucian followed them in and took in the spacious room with a table inside as Satomi, Talia, Deaton, and Noshiko started removing their masks one by one.

Lucian looked at them, sighing as he saw characters from TV shows he liked. It felt strange to encounter them in real life. He turned to Talia, his eyes confused. 'Isn't she supposed to die in the fire?' He mentally shook his head. "You aren't dead?" he blurted out, then started coughing to cover his mistake.

Talia's eyes glowed golden yellow as she looked at Lucian. "You know me?" Her tone was filled with questions.

Lucian met her gaze along with Satomi's, quickly trying to find an excuse. "Takeshi always has a story about you hunting down wolves. Wasn't your target you?" His tone was uncertain, hoping it would make him seem more believable.

Talia snarled at Lucian, recalling what the Ozunu Clan had done. "Grrr…" she growled, glaring at him with hatred.

"Okay, that's enough," Satomi said, gently pushing Talia aside and stepping forward to face Lucian.

"Don't ever mention the Ozunu Clan in front of her again. She might approve of you, but the Ozunu Clan has taken too much from her and from me as well," Satomi explained to Lucian, emphasizing the seriousness of the matter.

Her eyes glowed red as she thought of the many betas who had died at the hands of the Ozunu Clan. She had accepted Lucian because of his courage and his will to help the kids.

Thinking of this, Satomi couldn't help but sigh as she looked at Lucian. 'How will the others react if I tell them where he's from?' She contemplated her pack back in Beacon Hills, knowing they harbored hatred for the ninjas who had torn apart their pack and killed their families or friends.

Looking at Lucian, she recognized his pride and feared he wouldn't be able to hide his origin from the Ozunu Clan.

"Let me introduce myself properly this time. My name is Satomi Ito, your pack member, and more importantly, your alpha," she said, giving Lucian a soft smile.

Lucian stopped in his tracks, struggling with his thoughts. He was torn between accepting Satomi as his alpha someone who could be family and his reluctance to rely on strangers he had only just met, all while still needing to find the kids.

Satomi observed Lucian's conflicted expression but continued to smile softly.

"I won't force you to like the pack, you can leave if you want. However, I need you to know that I will be here waiting for you, whether in Beacon Hills or elsewhere. You can still find the kids by yourself, or let us help you," Satomi said, displaying her respect for his decision and her care for Lucian's well being.

Lucian sighed, still unable to make a decision, as he looked at everyone in the room except for Raizo and Kim Yoo-ri.

"Then can I ask you why you came here?" he asked.

"Don't tell me it's just because you wanted revenge. For me, that's not possible," Lucian said, expressing his doubts as he considered these people, who seemed to have come from halfway across the world. 'Yet they are here, saving me,' Lucian thought. Although he could be somewhat narcissistic, thinking of their goal in relation to him felt too strange and suspicious.

Satomi's eyes widened as she turned towards Talia, then looked at Deaton, remembering the main reason they were here.

Talia glanced at Lucian before shrugging. "Whether you believe it or not, I just came here for revenge. As for you? You should ask him," she said, pointing at Deaton before walking toward another door where the bed was, eager to finally get some sleep without worrying about someone attacking her in the middle of the night.

"I can tell you, but it will be a long story," Deaton said with a smile. He felt satisfied after completing his mission to find Lucian.

"I think I have enough time to listen to your story," Lucian opened his arms, signaling that he had nothing better to do.

Just then, a knock sounded at the door.

"The food is here. You guys can continue talking later," Noshiko said, looking at Ken to let him open the door.

Noshiko felt Lucian's gaze fall on her. "Noshiko Yukimura. I was called by Satomi to help, and I will explain why I'm helping you later." Noshiko already knew what Lucian was going to ask, so she pushed her daughter in front of her. "This is Kira Yukimura, my daughter. Like you, she is a half-kitsune."

Lucian looked at Kira, who was waving at him, and he responded with a friendly smirk before looking back at Noshiko. "No one is the same as me," he said, a hint of smugness revealing his growing comfort with their presence.

Noshiko raised an eyebrow at Lucian and nodded slightly. "Oh, kid, I know that all too well," she agreed with him, adding silently in her mind, 'No kid is as terrifying as you.'

Ken began wheeling in a cart full of food trays, bowing towards them before exiting the room.

As Ken started placing the food on the table, Raizo moved closer to help.

"Shall we?" Satomi asked with a smile as she walked toward the table and took a seat. The others followed suit, with Lucian sitting beside her as Kim Yoo-ri took a seat next to him.

"Why is she still human?" Lucian asked, looking at Kira, who sat opposite him; he couldn't detect any kitsune aura around her.

"Kira is different from you she's half human, which means her aura needs to mature before it appears," Noshiko explained. She realized that Lucian's nature was entirely different from Kira's, and she didn't know what creatures he was mixed with to begin with.

"But like all kitsune, Kira has mastered how to use a katana from her mother," Ken said, placing the last plate on the table and smiling at Noshiko and his daughter.

"Weapon mastery," Lucian said, recalling why using weapons felt so familiar when he practiced with the Ozunu Clan. He picked up a knife from the table and examined its reflection.

"Since we're all supernatural here, I'll ask again, what happened to the kids?" Lucian asked plainly. "Why did she take them?" His voice grew colder with each word.

Kim Yoo-ri nodded at Lucian as she noticed his grip on the knife. "I don't know what you know about your mother."

"She has a message for you if you try to find them," Kim Yoo-ri said, her eyes turning amber, ready to protect herself if necessary. She knew Areum's message could be more irritating than it was.

"Oh? Let me hear it then," Lucian said as he began to calm down.

"To tell you that if you want to protect someone dear to you, you need strength," Kim Yoo-ri said, flexing her muscles and readying herself for action.

Silence spread throughout the table as Raizo raised an eyebrow in confusion, while Satomi looked at her beta, concerned. Noshiko covered Kira's eyes and ears, already understanding that Lucian was likely to explode.

"Huh, ha ha ha." Lucian erupted into laughter, dropping the knife from his hand.

Meanwhile, Talia, trying to sleep in the bedroom, heard Lucian's laughter. "Argh, this kid is going crazy again." She grabbed a pillow to cover her ears, trying to ignore him.

At the table, everyone watched in shock as shadows began spreading from Lucian, growing larger by the second. They quickly stood up and stepped back from him.

"Do you know a kitsune like him can do that?!" Satomi shouted at Noshiko in disbelief.

"Every type of kitsune has different abilities, I don't know much about Jikan!" Noshiko replied, her irises glowing purple.

"Can you two do something?" Deaton asked, stepping back from the encroaching shadows.

Satomi looked at Noshiko, and when Noshiko sensed Satomi's gaze, she turned to her. "Don't look at me, you're his alpha! Go roar!" Noshiko said, pulling Kira behind her.

"RAWRRRR!" Satomi roared, her voice booming through the room. Lucian snapped out of his laughter as the shadows began to recede as if nothing had happened.

"I didn't know that could happen. I'm sorry," Lucian said, looking at his shadow in surprise and intrigue.

He then turned back towards Kim Yoo-ri.

"So where would she take them?" Lucian asked calmly, surprising everyone with his change in demeanor. They looked at him in confusion, and Noshiko drew Kira closer to the table.

Kira's eyes sparkled with excitement, as this was the first time she had seen a kitsune do something like that.

She turned to her mother. "Can I do stuff like that when I become kitsune too, mom?"

Hearing her daughter's question, Noshiko's lips twitched as she looked at Kira and sighed. "Maybe you can, so get stronger." She knew she was lying, but she couldn't help but wonder what kind of kitsune her daughter would become.

"Yes!" Kira cheered, diving into her food with determination, eager to grow stronger.

As Kim Yoo-ri sat down again, she looked at Lucian, who had started eating peacefully as if nothing had happened. "The only one who could take them is in a hotel," she said, observing his reaction and noting that he had paused.

The bedroom door suddenly flung open. "Christ, can you all just shut the fuck up?" Talia exclaimed, surveying the scene with bewilderment as she noticed them all calmly eating. Her face contorted with confusion. "Tsk." She clicked her tongue and slammed the door shut.

Seeing Lucian's calmness, Raizo nodded. 'He needs to be more composed if he wants to lead the Ozunu Clan,' he thought before turning to Kim Yoo-ri.

"I think it will be hard for his mother to hide someone in a hotel, right?"

"If it were a normal hotel, sure, but that hotel is different, its guests range from ghosts to monsters and other supernatural creatures," Kim Yoo-ri mumbled, continuing to eat.

"Hotel De Luna," Lucian said, having already figured it out. 'Long time, my ass,' he thought, recalling what Jang Man Wol had said during their conversation. He paused his eating, contemplating something.

Everyone's eyes widened with curiosity as they shifted their gaze between Kim Yoo-ri and Lucian regarding the hotel, while Kira's eyes brightened at the thought of a hotel catering to various supernatural beings.

Kim Yoo-ri was not surprised that Lucian knew about Hotel De Luna, having heard that he fought his way out from there thanks to Areum's test. She continued to eat.

"Are they going to be okay?" Lucian asked, furrowing his brow. He knew how much the supernatural and monsters in the hotel despised him after he killed his way out.

Kim Yoo-ri looked at Lucian, chewing her food before swallowing. "Don't worry. Jang Man Wol and Lee Yeon are helping your clan members stay safe, they might even let them have a normal life."

"Normal life, huh?" Lucian sighed, realizing he had completely forgotten. 'Looks like not everyone wants to be part of the Ozunu Clan.' He shook his head, recognizing that it made sense for the kids to desire a life free from bloodshed and violence. 'So the question is whether I should still go to them,' he thought as he poked his food mindlessly with a fork.

Seeing Lucian's reaction, Kim Yoo-ri's eyes brightened. "Actually, you can't beat ahjumma, even if you go there, and she just wants you to grow stronger." Kim Yoo-ri wanted to steer him away from focusing solely on the kids. "Ahjumma said she wanted your adventure to continue, and she will help the kids get stronger, which is why they voluntarily went with her."

Lucian's eyes widened in surprise. 'Get stronger, huh?' A smirk appeared on his face as he concocted a plan to grow stronger himself and reclaim his clan, even if it meant pushing her to help him. He turned to Kim Yoo-ri.

"Why are you even here?" Lucian asked, curious about why his mother would send someone to stay by his side.

'Looking at your mother's actions, I'd probably say surveillance,' Cortana commented, trying to decipher Kim Yoo-ri's motives for staying.

"Oh, ahjumma wanted to know what your plans are and to stop you if you decide to go after the kids," Kim Yoo-ri replied, returning to her food.

"Hahahaha." Lucian let out a laugh, shaking his head in amusement at Kim Yoo-ri's forthrightness. "I'm pretty sure you're supposed to come up with an excuse," he said, taking a sip of water.

"Well, she sent me to help you with anything you need. But if you find out I'm lying, you'll get angry, and if I don't follow ahjumma, she'll get mad at me," Kim Yoo-ri mumbled with a shrug as she continued eating.

'Basically, she's telling you she has no choice and isn't going anywhere,' Cortana commented, unable to suppress her sympathy for Kim Yoo-ri.

Lucian shot a side-eye at Kim Yoo-ri, assessing her from head to toe. "Help with... anything you say?" A grin formed on his face.

Kim Yoo-ri felt a chill run down her spine, sensing that she was being eyed like prey. She turned to face Lucian and swallowed her food nervously.

The table fell silent before a loud smack echoed in the room.

"Ahh, tsk." Lucian rubbed the back of his head, looking at Satomi in surprise.

"You're too young to talk and think about stuff like that," Satomi remarked as she resumed her meal.

"And stop poking the food, it's disrespectful,"

Lucian felt no anger, instead, he felt closer to Satomi and couldn't help but smile wryly as he continued eating.

His goal to find the kids was now somewhat clearer, but the only answer he still needed was why Satomi and the others were here.

As they continued to eat, Kira piped up, "Mom, can we go to that hotel?"

Noshiko sighed.

NEXT DAY

It was a new day, and Lucian sighed as he reflected on the conversation he had with Deaton about why they were here for him. The answers he received only left him feeling confused, as though he were caught in a grand scheme of events. 'Gods, Yggdrasil, Guardian,' he thought, grappling with these complicated issues one by one, amazed at how the mysteries of this world continued to grow larger and more complex.

As he walked through the halls of the Arashikage Clan, he made his way toward the training area where he saw people practicing.

Approaching a wooden dummy, he attempted to control his strength, but even as he tried, he could still not fully harness it like he had in the past. With a punch, he cracked the wooden dummy.

"Looks like you got a lot in your mind," Storm Shadow's voice sounded behind Lucian. Lucian wasn't surprised. He had already heard Storm Shadow, even without focusing. His hearing was stronger, his vision even more acute than ever.

"Yeah, too much information all at once," Lucian mumbled, raising a hand to catch a katana thrown by Storm Shadow. He looked at Storm Shadow with a raised eyebrow.

"Fighting someone who fights back is much better than a wooden dummy, isn't it?" Tommy smiled as he unsheathed the katana in his hand and slashed towards Lucian.

Lucian stepped sideways, executing a swift, almost imperceptible movement that allowed him to dodge the katana, which sliced through the air just an inch from his face.

His vision tracked the blade's trajectory, and his senses were heightened. Storm Shadow was slower than he expected. 'Or I just improve too much,' Lucian thought as he continued his dance, a whirlwind of calculated movements. He dipped, weaved, and spun, evading Storm Shadow's attacks with ease.

Storm Shadow, a master swordsman, a warrior renowned for his speed and precision, found himself struggling to keep up.

He frowned. He had never encountered an opponent like Lucian, one who moved with such fluid grace, such unpredictable agility. 'Becoming a werewolf improved him that much?' Storm Shadow wondered as he continued his attack.

The katana became a blur of silver in Storm Shadow's hands, a deadly weapon poised for action. But Lucian anticipated every movement the thrusts and parries blocking each blow with elegance.

He closed his eyes and operated on instinct, deflecting Storm Shadow's attacks with the sheathed katana using just one hand.

Storm Shadow swung both hands down at Lucian, yet Lucian fended him off again with only one hand, causing Storm Shadow to frown further, his frustration growing.

"Okay, that's enough. Stop embarrassing yourself any further," Sen announced, walking in with Akiko by her side, casting a glance at Storm Shadow.

Storm Shadow, despite his frustration, didn't argue. He knew that Sen was right. He had been pushed too far, had been outsmarted by this young Tōryō. He sheathed his katana and bowed, a subtle acknowledgment of his defeat.

She looked at Storm Shadow, a hint of pride in her eyes. 'Looks like this kid is learning,' Sen's gaze softened as she watched him, proud of his willingness to learn, to accept his limitations.

Lucian just nodded at Sen, a silent acknowledgment of the encounter.

Sen, her eyes twinkling with amusement, turned towards Lucian.

"Do Lord Ozunu have time to talk?" Sen smiled, offering a welcoming gesture.

Lucian nodded. "Yeah, I also want to ask Lady Sen for a favor." He walked towards Sen.

Sen smiled upon hearing this. "Then shall we?" she said, leading Lucian to her main room.

Jinx appeared beside Storm Shadow, watching the two Tōryō as they moved farther away. "Did you get your ass beat?" she joked, mocking Storm Shadow for his defeat.

Storm Shadow rolled his eyes. "Shut up. Don't you have something better to do?"

Meanwhile, in the main hall, Sen and Lucian sat across from each other while Akiko prepared tea for them.

"If you don't mind, can I ask what your plans are now, without your clan members?" Sen inquired.

"About that, that's why I am here to ask you for a favor," Lucian said calmly, aware that Sen probably wouldn't make it easy for him.

Sen nodded, signaling him to continue.

"I need to exchange gold for funds, and with your connections, I need to buy some things," Lucian stated, glancing at Akiko as she set down a cup of tea and smiled at him.

"Thank you," Lucian whispered to Akiko.

Sen nodded slightly, considering Lucian's words. 'Gold? That probably comes from their missions.' She knew the Ozunu Clan earned their income through assassination, collecting at least one hundred pounds of gold for each target.

"And what could the Arashikage Clan get in return?" Sen asked, her smile widening as she nodded to Akiko, who had just placed her tea down. 'Just say the words,' she thought, eager for Lucian to propose an alliance with her clan. She took the teacup in front of her.

"My worth," Lucian replied.

Sen, who was about to take a sip of her tea, paused, raising her head in surprise. 'That's not the answer I was expecting,' she thought as she observed Lucian calmly drinking his tea.

"What?" Sen asked again, wanting him to repeat his answer.

"Initially, I was going to offer an alliance, considering how eager you are to establish one," Lucian explained, meeting Sen's gaze while continuing to sip his tea.

'This kid... It seems Ozunu knows how to choose them,' Sen thought as they locked eyes.

"An alliance, a promise...Those are easy to make, to break. Words can be fleeting, hollow. But a Tōryō's worth is measured in actions, in tangible results. I need to prove my value, not just speak of it."

"Oh, and how do you plan to do that?" Sen asked, amusement in her voice. She was certain he would offer more in the future. 'But this is fine as well,' Sen thought, surprised at how Lucian was representing himself as a true Tōryō.

"With weapons and technology." Lucian simply stated, knowing he was free to pursue his plan. He had always intended to use Cortana's knowledge to create more advanced weaponry.

Sen chuckled in amusement and shook her head. "You may not know this, but your clan is stuck in the old ways. The weapons and technology are far more advanced than you think."

Lucian was aware of this and had anticipated it, as this world was a fusion of many worlds.

"You won't know unless I try, will you?" Lucian replied calmly, confident that the weapons and technology were not beyond the capabilities of Cortana's knowledge.

He aimed to create weapons to counter supernatural threats, even developing countermeasures for them as a kitsune.

Sen listened to the confidence in Lucian's voice, noting, 'He isn't joking.' She reached a decision to allow him to pursue his ambitions freely. After all, it was his money, and she was betting on his future not just today. 'Just let him do whatever he wants.'

"And where will you be making these weapons and technology?" Sen inquired.

Lucian shook his head, knowing Sen probably wouldn't believe him. 'After all, who would believe a nine-year-old kid has blueprints of advanced weapons in his mind?' he thought.

"About that, I'll accept your offer to stay in your clan if it's still available."

Sen's eyes lit up at this revelation, realizing that the presence of Lucian within the Arashikage Clan could have a significant impact on him, even if they weren't targeting him directly.

"Oh, are you not going with Noshiko and the others?" Sen asked calmly, trying to mask her excitement.

Lucian sighed, having sensed Sen's heartbeat even without focusing. 'This woman!'

"No, I need to control and practice my strength before I join them," Lucian replied, his goal being to grow stronger since the kids were safe for now. He also wanted to cultivate a closer bond with Satomi's pack, feeling a connection to her as though he had found a motherly figure who had saved him. 'I owe it to her,' he thought.

His conversation from the previous night made him realize that his pack should harbor resentment for the Ozunu Clan.

However, as a Tōryō, he wouldn't hide who he was from the pack that would become his family.

Thus, he needed to control his power and strength, otherwise, he would prove to be a monster if he lost control.

"Then the Arashikage Clan welcomes you," Sen said cheerfully, smiling at Lucian as she bowed her head slightly in respect, which Lucian reciprocated.

Two Weeks Later: Haneda Airport

Lucian was saying goodbye to Satomi, Talia, Deaton, and the Yukimura family. "Make sure you go to Beacon Hills after you gain full control, understand?" Satomi said, worry evident in her eyes. She didn't want to leave her new beta behind but needed to return to her pack, waiting for her back home.

"I know, I know," Lucian said with a wry smile, knowing Satomi might drag him to Beacon Hills if he didn't agree.

As they hugged, Lucian turned to see Talia crossing her arms, watching him closely. As Lucian and Satomi separated, Talia spoke up. "I like you, kid. You should stop being a ninja and live your life." Though she harbored a dislike for the Ozunu Clan, she couldn't help but appreciate Lucian's personality after spending time together.

Lucian smiled and nodded at Talia before looking at the Yukimura Family, smiling at them.

"Lucian, come with us—" Kira started, but her father quickly covered her mouth. Ken smiled awkwardly at Lucian.

Noshiko sighed, shaking her head at her husband and daughter before turning to Lucian. "After you've controlled your emotions, come visit us in New York," she said with a gentle smile. 'It's too big of a difference,' she thought, comparing her daughter to Lucian, who was also a half-kitsune. 'He already grew his first tail in just a week,' she reflected on what Lucian had done to activate his kitsune healing abilities.

Lucian smiled wryly hearing Noshiko. "I will." He knew his emotions were more powerful, as he was a mix of Kitsune spirit which Noshiko thought was making him more volatile.

Finally, Lucian turned to Deaton, offering a soft smile. "Doctor." He shook hands with him. "If you need any help in the future..." Lucian was grateful, recognizing that Deaton was the real reason they were all there in the first place.

Deaton smiled back at Lucian as they shook hands. "Then if you become an alpha, do me a favor." His expression turned serious.

"Oh, can you tell me now?" Lucian's face turned serious. He is strong now. When he became an Alpha, he would be much stronger, so he couldn't help but be curious what kind of problem Deaton was having, that would require such a powerful Alpha.

"I'll tell you when you get to Beacon Hills!" Deaton said with a smile, pulling his luggage.

Lucian took a final look at them. Satomi smiled at him. "We'll be waiting for you." The others nodded in agreement.

The airport announced the boarding of their flight as they rushed to wave goodbye to him.

Lucian waved until they were out of sight when someone walked alongside him.

"Are they gone?" Raizo asked, glancing in the direction where they had disappeared.

"Yeah, let's go," Lucian replied, leading him out of the airport toward a car.

Lucian opened the back door and got in while Raizo settled into the passenger seat up front.

"Where should we go now?" Kim Yoo-ri asked from the driver's seat, glancing at Lucian in the rearview mirror.

"Let's go explore, I haven't traveled anywhere since joining the clan," Lucian suggested, looking out the window at the bustling city.

"That sounds like a good plan to me," Kim Yoo-ri smiled as she started the car.

Raizo smiled as he put his seat belt on. He couldn't help but feel freer than he had ever been.

The car rushed towards Tokyo.

•-----•-----•-----•-----•

"Has he left?" Noshiko asked Satomi, who was watching Lucian's car drive away.

"Yeah, let's go," Satomi replied, nodding toward Noshiko as she followed the Yukimura family to a different plane.

"We'll head out first!" Talia shouted to them as she and Deaton left together to board the plane to head back to Beacon Hills.

As Satomi and the Yukimura family waved goodbye, Kira chimed in, "Mom, we should invite Lucian to come with us, it would be more fun that way."

Noshiko rolled her eyes at her daughter's suggestion. 'Yeah, it'd be fun if you want to get chased around,' she thought to herself.

Ken smiled at Kira. "Lucian still has some things to do, honey. He'll visit us in New York."

Satomi smiled at them as she presented her ticket to the check-in agent at the airport.

"South Korea, Incheon Airport," the agent confirmed.

"Yes," Satomi replied, her smile softening as the agent returned her ticket. As she did, her eyes briefly flashed with a red light.

Tokyo: Car

"Have all the ingredients been bought?" Lucian asked Kim Yoo-ri, who was acting as his assistant while he gazed out the window.

"Yes, but it's taking longer than expected to buy Reishi mushrooms in large quantities," she replied, unaware of Lucian's reasons for needing them.

"That's fine. There's no need to rush, just make sure we get them," Lucian said as he closed his eyes, attempting to fall asleep. What he didn't realize was that his dreams would become much more interesting than he anticipated, conjuring memories of the stories they told him when he had asked questions two weeks ago.
