Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

"Do you have everything I requested?" Lucas asked his assistant, Jason, as he entered his suite.

It had been more like his temporary home since moving out of his parent's mansion, preferring the convenience of having a place in the center of his business.

However, he would admit it was not a place for a family. It was more of a bachelor's pad than anything else, not that he was a player.

"Yes, Sir Lucas, but why do you need all this grocery?" Jason furrowed his brows as he dropped the three large brown bags of food on the counter. "You are hardly at home."

His assistant did not hide his curiosity as he helped him unload the items he had asked to buy. But he was right. He usually ate out instead of hiring a cook.

He could cook but only the basic stuff since he barely had the time. His apartment was just a place to sleep and shower, nothing else.

"Will you stop asking questions and finish stacking up those cans on the cabinet?" He ordered, pointing to the third bag while he cracked some eggs.

He took a skillet from the rack and heated it on the stove before spraying oil in the middle. Then, he started adding the ingredients he needed to make an omelet.

"Sir, I didn't know that you could cook," Jason commented, seemingly shocked, as he watched him perfectly fold the egg mixture until the omelet was fluffy and cooked.

"Is there any reason why you are still here?" He abruptly interrupted his assistant's curiosity.

Truthfully, he did not like people snooping in his life and business. Still, as a public figure, he was used to it. Besides, it was Jason's job to make his life easy.

"Since you are not going to the office today. I'm here to update you with your updated schedules." Jason pulled out his tablet, opening the screen to check on his lists.

"When I say I'm not going to the office, I mean cancel all my appointments, including meetings outside the office." He clarified their misunderstandings.

However, he could not blame his assistant since he rarely canceled an appointment unless he had another more pressing matter, much alone a whole day or even a week.

But it was supposed to be his honeymoon. Therefore, he had no choice but to take a few days off. They still had to pretend, at least, for this charade to sell.

"Ahem!" Footsteps, followed by someone clearing her throat, made him turn to the kitchen entrance.

"Good morning! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt..." Then, she made an about-face, ready to return from where she came from.

"Andy, you are not interrupting anything." He called her.

"Come and have some breakfast." He asked her to step closer. "Jason is leaving anyway." He tapped the stool on the large kitchen counter, inviting her to join him.

"Good morning, Mrs. Preston." Jason automatically greeted his wife with a nod.

His assistant was one of the few people who knew about the wedding who was not part of the family. But he was aware that he needed to keep his mouth shut.

"Please, don't call me that. Call me Andriana or Ms. Young." His wife reminded Jason about their arrangement.

For now, they were keeping the marriage among themselves since his wife insisted on remaining Ms. Young in the office.

But eventually, they both knew they would have to announce it to the world when the time was right.

In the meantime, she insisted on working her way to his company with her merits, not because she was the CEO's wife.

"If that is your wish, Ms. Andriana. Then, I better be going, Sir." Jason gathered his things and immediately left his apartment.

Now, it was just him and his wife, beginning their new day as husband and wife. In truth, he did not know how he should feel since he never had a woman living in his place before.

"Come on, sit here. I made breakfast." He ushered her to a seat.

He rushed to get her a coffee and a plate of omelets he just made. "Wait!" He forgot the toast, quickly tossing two on her plate. "There! Enjoy!"

"You made this." She appeared surprised. "I have no idea you can cook." She sliced a piece, tasting his dish. "Wow! It is delicious." She took another bite before grabbing one of the toast.

"Glad you like it." He also ate his share, joining her on the counter.

He guessed she would not know since he had moved out of the mansion when she moved in. Then, they hardly saw each other except on a few occasions.

"I had learned a few tricks from my Nana. She would never let us leave the kitchen until we could cook something edible and delicious." He explained, fondly thinking of his grandmother, who had long passed away.

He could still remember their sweet grandmother for everything she had taught him. He was not only talking about the household chores. He meant the many life lessons she had imparted to him and his brother, Tristan.

"I just did not see you as the domesticated type, Lucas," Andy remarked, as if she still could not believe what she witnessed.

She might find him amusing, seeing her husband and Boss in an apron, slaving in the kitchen. Nonetheless, he did not care. He liked to cook since it was indeed therapeutic.

Suddenly, he wondered why he had stopped. But he supposed it was his responsibility in the office. After all, building a business from the ground up was not a walk in the park.

"What about you, Princess? Do you cook?" He assumed she could barely boil an egg, let alone cook a meal.

She had lived her entire life like a Princess when her parents were still alive. Then, when his father took over, he spoiled her rotten like his younger brother.

Ring! Ring! Ring!

"I..." But before she could answer, his phone rang, interrupting their conversation. "You should answer that." She suggested.

"Yeah!" He grabbed his phone on the counter. "What is it?" He asked whoever was on the other end of the line.

His assistant, Jason, informed him about an incident in the office. As much as he wished to return to eating his breakfast, he could not ignore the call.

"By the way, Andy." He turned to his wife while putting his call on hold. "We are leaving after lunch for our honeymoon. It is another gift from Dad."

He asked her to pack her things that would be good for a few days. It had been a while since he also took a vacation. But he never saw the need.

"You know that is not necessary." She said as she picked up her empty plate and placed it on the sink. "We don't have to do that. Besides, I have tons of work to do at the office."

He was not expecting that from her. He thought she would grab the chance to travel and laze around in some exotic paradise.

Then, he watched her clean her plate as if she had been doing that her entire life. Suddenly, he was curious if he had her wrong.

"On the contrary, we do. We need to go on this trip."
