Chapter 228 - Chapter 228: Hela Shifts Her Target

"Spider-Woman? Why are you looking for her?" Ancient One was puzzled. Hela's thoughts were always so unpredictable that without an explanation, no one could guess what she was planning.

Hela shrugged and explained, "Back at Stark Tower, I saw with my own eyes how the Emperor went out of his way to protect Spider-Woman. Out of so many superheroes, he didn't shield anyone else but was so intent on protecting Spider-Woman. I'm convinced there's something special between them!"

Ancient One chuckled helplessly. Hela's expression resembled that of a jealous wife discovering her husband's affair.

"Maybe it's because the others didn't need his protection?"

Hela shook her head vigorously, her demeanor suddenly girlish. "Impossible! The Emperor and Spider-Woman definitely have a secret connection!"

Hearing her adamant conclusion, Ancient One knew there was no changing her mind. She could only go along with it. "So, what do you plan to do?"

Hela grinned broadly and hugged Ancient One tightly. "Help me one more time. I want to know Spider-Woman's true identity—the one who makes the Emperor so nervous."

Ancient One pushed Hela's hands away. At this rate, Hela would unearth every superhero's secret identity, defeating the whole purpose of wearing masks!

"Please, just this once! I promise it'll be the last!" Hela clasped her hands together in a pleading gesture.

Ancient One sighed. "Fine, just one last time."

With that, her body floated into the air, hovering in place. The Eye of Agamotto on her chest began to spin, emitting a green glow. Her consciousness transcended time and space, arriving at the moment Gwen became Spider-Woman.

A short while later, Ancient One abruptly awoke. Hela was practically bursting with anticipation. "Did you see it clearly? Spider-Woman's real identity?"

Ancient One waved her hand, and a projection appeared before them, showing Gwen putting on her suit. Instead of explaining directly, Ancient One decided it was better to let Hela see for herself.

"Her name is Gwen. She's the Spider-Woman you were talking about."

Hela stared at the projection, captivated by Gwen's clear, bright eyes and alluring figure. She was momentarily stunned.

Could it be that the Emperor was protecting her because he liked this type of woman?

A knowing smile played on Hela's lips as she continued to gaze at Gwen, her eyes filled with a complex mix of emotions.

Now that she had uncovered Spider-Woman's true identity, a series of plans began to form in her mind.

...

Time flew by, and early the next morning, a graceful figure appeared on the rooftop of an empty high-rise building. Clad in a black-and-white suit that hugged her figure tightly, the woman moved with extraordinary speed, shooting webs from her hands to swing forward with ease.

This was Gwen, the Spider-Woman Hela had mentioned. She was effortlessly traversing the space between skyscrapers, heading toward Alan's location.

The slender, durable webbing in Gwen's hands acted like an extension of her limbs, carrying her swiftly across great distances.

Below her, the streets were packed with protesters chanting slogans and holding up copies of the latest Daily Bugle headlines.

Over the past few days, anti-Emperor sentiment had spread across every corner of the city. Hearing their accusations weighed heavily on Gwen's heart. As the public's misunderstanding of the Emperor deepened, she could no longer hold back and decided to confront Alan about the matter directly.

Before long, Gwen arrived at Alan's residence. Carefully sticking to the wall, she ensured no one saw her before gently pushing open a window and flipping inside with a graceful somersault.

Alan was momentarily stunned by her arrival, unsure of the reason for her visit this time.
