In the underground prison, George frowned as he looked at the recently arrested homeless man.
"Not long after I finished questioning him, he fell into this state of talking to himself."
"What we can confirm is that he has developed multiple personality disorder."
"But…"
George looked at Anna and asked, "But what?"
Anna continued to explain, "This gets into some technical details, but I'll simplify it for you. Generally, multiple personalities develop due to a combination of environmental and specific triggering factors."
"The secondary personality that emerges usually serves a protective role for the primary personality."
"But with him…"
Anna glanced at the homeless man in the cell, who was now trembling in fear, tightly gripping his own hair. He mumbled to himself with his head down, "No, you can't kill me. I don't want to die, I don't want to die."
In the next moment, the homeless man's eyes filled with blood, and his expression twisted into something grotesque.
"No! You're useless! If it weren't for that terrifying thing, you'd already be dead. This strong body belongs to me!"
"You must die!"
…
The dialogue between the two personalities immediately made George understand the situation. According to Anna, the dominant personality typically acts as a protector to the weaker one. But in this case, the dominant personality was clearly trying to kill the weaker one.
"Is this kind of situation rare?" George asked, looking at Anna. She nodded and replied, "Yes, in cases of multiple personality disorder, it's extremely rare. The academic community has proposed a possible explanation."
"What explanation?"
"Usually, the only possibility for this kind of situation is if the second personality was forcibly induced."
George was stunned. "It can be induced?"
Anna gave George a slightly disdainful glance and said, "I'm simplifying it to help you understand."
George awkwardly nodded, "So, you're saying this was done deliberately?"
"Hmm, we can't rule out that possibility."
George suddenly thought of something. "Could it be related to the 'voices' he mentioned when he was captured?"
"When I was speaking with him, he also mentioned 'they.'"
"Based on what he told me, he doesn't know who 'they' are. He only knows that he was kidnapped and woke up tied to a bed."
"When I tried to ask more, his other personality woke up and started fighting for control of his body."
"I'll wait for him to stabilize before asking again."
George shook his head in frustration. The clues had dried up once again.
"Thank you for your help, Anna."
"It's no problem, Uncle George. I just got back from abroad and finished up my work."
"I was actually planning to visit Gwen in the next couple of days. Is she at home?"
Hearing this, George's face darkened. Ever since Alan showed up, Gwen had barely been home.
But it was hard to avoid the question, so George reluctantly said, "That girl, she's been spending all her time at someone else's house recently."
Anna giggled, covering her mouth. "Growing up so fast, has she found a boyfriend?"
George's face turned even darker.
Anna knew all too well that George was the ultimate doting father. Judging by his reaction, her guess was spot on.
"Uncle George, don't worry. I'll help you check out this guy."
"With my skills, I'll know right away if he's a good man or a bad one."
George's eyes lit up. That sounded like a great idea.
Then he glanced back at the homeless man. "Actually, this case today is somewhat connected to him."
Anna was puzzled. "Him? Gwen's boyfriend?"
George nodded. "Yes, it's complicated. Come take a look at the footage."
In the evidence room, Anna watched the video, her eyes narrowing.
"This is what happened. The previously dominant homeless man suddenly switched personalities in front of Alan's car."
"That's how Alan managed to escape."
Listening to George's explanation, Anna nodded in understanding.
Others might not have noticed anything strange, but as an expert in this field, Anna understood.
How could such a dominant personality be suddenly replaced by another? This only made Anna more curious about Alan. To her, it seemed like Alan did something in the car that allowed the other personality to suddenly gain control, giving it the opportunity to emerge.
Seeing Anna's expression, George asked, "What's wrong? Is there a problem?"
Anna smoothly shook her head, "No, just amazed at how lucky Gwen's little boyfriend is."
She decided not to share her suspicions with George just yet. She knew George's temperament well—if he started doubting Alan, he'd drag him to the police station for questioning immediately.
If it were anyone else, Anna wouldn't have cared. But since this was Gwen's boyfriend, causing any potential rift between father and daughter could lead to more trouble. So she opted to check things out herself.
"Uncle George, I'll head over to see Gwen now. Call me when things settle down here."
George, unaware of Anna's little plan, simply thought she wanted to hang out with Gwen. He nodded, "Alright, thank you for your help."
Anna smiled, turned to leave, but George called after her again.
"Remember to check out Alan for me."
As she walked away, Anna held up an "OK" gesture over her shoulder. With Anna's promise, George finally smiled in satisfaction.

"Finally, home…"
At Alan's house, Gwen collapsed onto the sofa, carrying two large bags of snacks. Even though they weren't heavy for her, she still felt the need to complain.
"Pikachu…"
Pikachu also flopped down on the sofa, looking utterly exhausted. However, he wasn't tired from shopping, but from playing stuff toy all day.
Alan, seeing the two lazing around on the couch, couldn't help but laugh. "Alright, you two rest up then. I'll go make us something to eat."
As soon as Alan said that, the two of them were instantly re-energized.
"I love you, Alan!"
"Pika…chuuu!"
Alan chuckled and headed to the kitchen with the ingredients for dinner.
Not long after Alan entered the kitchen, Gwen, who was playfully messing around with Pikachu on the sofa, heard Red Queen's voice.
"Miss Gwen, incoming call from 'Anna.'"
Upon hearing Anna's name, Gwen instantly perked up. "Cousin Anna? Quick, put her through!"
With that, Red Queen connected the call.
"Gwen, long time no see."
Gwen didn't catch the meaning behind Anna's words and excitedly responded, "Cousin Anna, how do you have time to call me?"
"Well, I just finished helping Uncle George with something, and I missed you, so I thought I'd call."
"Oh, helping my dad…?"
Gwen's face changed as she suddenly realized, "Wait, did you just say you were helping my dad?"
"Yeah, I helped him with the interrogation of a criminal with multiple personality disorder."
"After that, I thought I'd come over to hang out with you."
Gwen immediately sensed something was off and, with a strange tone, replied, "Uh… cousin Anna, I'm not at home right now. Maybe you could wait for me?"
On the other end, Anna chuckled, "No need, I'm downstairs at Alan's place."
"What?!"
Gwen leapt off the sofa in an instant, rushing to the balcony and almost knocking Pikachu off in the process, leaving him bewildered.
"Pika??"
Gwen hurried to the balcony and looked down, spotting a figure in a red outfit waving up at her.
Her face instantly turned red as she ducked down behind the balcony railing.
Alan, hearing Gwen's sudden outburst, curiously came out and saw her hiding there.
"What's going on, Gwen?"
Gwen put a finger to her lips, signaling for him to be quiet, and whispered, "Cousin Anna is here…"
"Cousin Anna?"
Alan, like Pikachu, looked puzzled.
At that moment, the doorbell rang.
Like a startled rabbit, Gwen dashed past Alan, shouting, "I'll get the door!"
