Chapter 104 - Chapter 104: The Golden Dragon's Roar

The vagrant arrogantly charged out of the bank, and the dark shadow that had rushed out before him turned out to be the body he had thrown. Using the corpse to draw the police's fire, he then escaped in the chaos. This showed how intelligent the second personality he developed after the enhancement serum was—it possessed a sharp criminal mind.

As the vagrant burst out, most of the detectives couldn't turn their guns in time. Some had already emptied their clips, and the few remaining bullets were skillfully dodged by him.

George, watching the vagrant's escape, quickly pulled out the shotgun slung over his back and fired at him. Seeing the wide spread of the shotgun's blast, the vagrant's face twisted as he sped up even more, darting between police cars. The shotgun blasts left holes in the vehicles, but no matter how George aimed, he couldn't land a hit.

"Damn it!" George cursed under his breath as the shotgun emptied. Just as he prepared to switch weapons, he heard one of his men shout in alarm, "Chief, watch out!"

The vagrant had somehow maneuvered close to George, one hand outstretched toward his neck. The snipers' reports were fresh in everyone's minds: this man had snapped a security guard's neck in the bank. If he managed to grab George, the consequences would be dire.

"Officer, you almost hurt me earlier. Now it's time I return the favor with the utmost courtesy," the vagrant sneered as he closed in. George's face darkened as the hand neared his throat.

Just when the vagrant's fingers were about to latch onto George, his body was suddenly yanked backward, flying away from the danger.

"It's Spider-Woman! Spider-Woman's here!"

Someone shouted, noticing Spider-Woman swinging in from the opposite direction. George had been pulled away by Spider-Woman's web.

"Hey, Chief George, that was close. I just saved you again," Gwen teased her father as she caught him mid-air.

George's face flushed with embarrassment, and he coughed twice to hide it. "Thanks, Spider-Woman."

Under her mask, Gwen was delighted. She had never heard George offer such a sincere thank-you before.

"No problem! As a polite return for your gratitude, I'll catch that big guy for you," she replied with a grin.

The vagrant, upon seeing Spider-Woman arrive, had a noticeable change in expression. Although he wasn't sure of the exact power difference between himself and Spider-Woman, he believed he was stronger. But this personality was extremely cautious, and without 100% certainty, he had no desire to face Spider-Woman head-on.

"So, Spider-Woman, you like saving people, huh? Let's see how much saving you can do!" he taunted.

Hearing this, Gwen's brows furrowed instantly. "Everyone, get out of the way! Move back!" she yelled.

But the police couldn't possibly move as fast as the vagrant could grab them. In no time, three or four detectives were flung through the air by him. If Gwen didn't intervene, they would be crushed on impact, undoubtedly leading to their deaths.

Gwen had no choice but to shoot webs, catching each one of them mid-fall.

But this also gave the vagrant more time to escape.

"Bye-bye, Spider-Lady. Let's play the catch game again next time if we get the chance."

"Stop right there!" Gwen had no hands free to chase after the vagrant, so she could only watch as he dashed off in another direction.

"Red Queen, can you track which way he's going?"

"Of course. As long as he passes by any surveillance cameras, he won't get away."

Immediately, a projection popped up in Gwen's view, showing a live feed of the vagrant running swiftly in a specific direction.

But in the next moment, Gwen's face darkened.

"Red Queen, alert Alan! Tell him to get out of there, it's dangerous!"

"Understood!"

Through the surveillance feed, Gwen saw Alan's car, directly in the path of the fleeing vagrant.

Gwen caught the last detective that had been thrown and then, without saying a word, swung rapidly in Alan's direction. Her heart was filled with constant prayers—Alan, please be safe! Please, nothing bad can happen!

"Master, that criminal is heading your way quickly, and Miss Gwen is in pursuit from behind."

Alan, driving with Pikachu in the passenger seat, heard Red Queen's report and had a strange expression. "Why is he coming toward me?"

...

"No worries, he can't hurt me," Alan said, patting Pikachu on the head.

"Pika...chu?" Pikachu asked with a puzzled look.

Alan shook his head, "I don't need you for this. I can handle him myself, there's still plenty of time."

"If you got involved, it would just complicate things."

"Pika... Pika..." Pikachu looked a bit disappointed.

"Haha, don't worry, there will be chances for you to take action in the future."

At that moment, a figure appeared from the other side of the road, running straight toward Alan's car. The vagrant had spotted Alan's luxury vehicle.

"Oh God, my luck is great! I just got the money, and now you've gifted me a car!" he exclaimed.

"You're really generous to your people!"

The vagrant couldn't help but praise God, though he didn't realize he was actually encountering the devil himself.

In no time, the vagrant reached the front of Alan's car. He glanced at Alan inside and said softly, "Boy, get out of the car. God gave it to me."

With that, he raised his fist, ready to smash the vehicle.

Just as he said, he hated the rich.

But just as his fist was about to come down, the vagrant suddenly felt the environment around him plunge into darkness. There was no car, no road, no tall buildings—nothing remained but a void of pitch-black.

"Where... is this?"

For the first time since his second personality emerged, the vagrant understood what fear was. The sudden darkness enveloped him, filling him with an emotion he'd never experienced before.

He lowered his fist and slowly began to retreat.

After taking a few steps back, he saw two beams of golden light suddenly shining in the dark ahead—like a pair of eyes.

The two beams of light illuminated the entire void, and before the vagrant's eyes appeared a terrifying golden dragon head.

"W-What... what is this...?"

Suddenly, the dragon's mouth opened slowly.

A deafening roar erupted—ROAR!

The earth-shaking dragon's roar completely shattered the last shred of the vagrant's mental defenses.
