I took Sia's hand in mine, guiding her gently as we stood. Her fingers were soft and warm, and for a moment, I could only focus on the delicate feel of her skin against mine. The room was dimly lit by the fire, and its glow wrapped around us like a warm blanket. The air was thick with the smell of wood smoke and the lingering scent of rain from the storm outside.
We moved closer, the small space between us disappearing as I placed my other hand on her waist. She flinched slightly at the touch, her body tensing beneath my fingers. With her standing a good foot below me, I could easily feel the heart radiating from her skin even through the fabric of the oversized shirt she wore. The shirt slipped up slightly, revealing a hint of her thigh, but I quickly adjusted it back down, my thumb brushing against her bare skin. She let out a soft gasp, her eyes widening in surprise.
