After I changed into a white gown with delicate embroidery- apparently one that belonged to kairan's birth mother- we set out to find Kirill, who had mysteriously disappeared.
"Why can't you just use telepathy to find him?" I asked, frustration clear in my voice.
Kairan glanced at me, his face expressionless. "Telepathy isn't something you use casually. It's a bond spell. It only works between people who are very close."
"Oh, really? Then why don't you have that bond with my brother?" I retorted, more to myself than to him.
Kairan stopped and faced me, his tone steady and calm. "Because we don't share that kind of bond. Telepathy requires a deep connection, a level of trust and intimacy that goes beyond mere acquaintance. It can break if the bond weakens."
I rolled my eyes, exasperated. "So, it's useless if it depends on love. That's just perfect."
