CHAPTER SEVEN
PAULA'S POV
The day wasn't a great one again following the barbaric massacre of the security unit, the atmosphere although turned out well, chill breeze, sunny sky and the music of different birds playing melodious sounds to my ears made home safe and peaceful again.
I sat on the stool in front of my house watching my Pa and some other men and women cleaning the casa de especial for the operative unit the government sent to take up the responsibility of eliminating the monsters in the woods. The house is one of the most treasured ownership of the town, our ancestors lived there but for some reasons was restricted from entering and gets opened only for important occasions like the Cosecha abundante, which occurs once in a blue moon.
Because of its fantastic ambience, the people including myself get so excited whenever it's opened just to have a good look at the wonders of our ancestors. The place is adorned with so many natural flowers and art works, and the birds hover around the garden with their songs which makes it feel different from the outer world.
Today of cause is a different day, I didn't even feel like going there nor seeing the beautiful site, I just sat on the stool noticing every moments and activities.
"Strong people"
"I know right", I responded with my gaze still fixed at the building.
Just then a black van rode in and stopped in front of the house like they knew their abode already. We stood up gazing at the hefty men that jumped out of the van, I saw how people murmured to one another, wondering if the 12 men can stand the monsters that devoured battalions of soldiers, we have become sensitive to every little thing.
I sat back with my hands to my cheek looking interestingly at the new unit, they were tall and hefty as if they came from same mother. Taking a closer look I saw the different tattoos they drew on their skin, some beautiful while others weird, especially the full moon.
I smiled wondering how reasonable the moon was but I saw nothing out of it. Some men drew snake, scorpion, crossed axe, firing gun and this different dude drew a full moon.
"Wow! , I said chuckling.
I kept looking just to see the face of the full moon . . . Lol, don't mind me.
The guys brought out their exercising stuff almost immediately while the one that must be their leader spoke with Pa and the rest of the men, I was just focused on the weirdo and I really wanted to see his face.
As I kept looking intensely he finally turned to my direction with the dumbbell in his hands, his muscles limping up now and then, the beads of sweat ran down his chest in haste and his veins were so visible under the morning sun.
"Oh mine!, God is wonderful", I exclaimed in amazement.
"Yes he is!"
A young tall dude, with a well built body just like that of Apollo and he actually took after his beauty, the kind that sends every heart leaping and yearning and well defined jawline that moved interestingly at every word, I couldn't blink, I just stared blankly and I could hear my heart beating faster and louder at this point.
I looked up slowly to his eyes, . . . .. . . . . .wow...the most beautiful ojos I have ever seen staring back at me lost as well, blue in nature complementing his thick black hair kissing the sun with a strain falling to his face, I couldn't help but smile broadly.
I ran into the house in excitement not minding what the dude may think of me,.with my hand to my chest I hurried to my room.
"Paula, are you okay", came my Ma's voice.
I just looked at her with my pretty smile and kept moving happily.
"What!. . . . .don't tell me you are in love", chuckling.
"Lol. . . .no I'm not", flipping my long hair to the back, "How would I so quickly fall for a complete stranger", I replied disbelieving myself.
After my studies I haven't found any man in my town worthy of been called my soul mate, I'm not just into them even as I see their stray feelings for me, I just feel differently towards marriage as a whole and my parents supraisingly disturb me not.
I sat on my bed thinking deeply on the drastic change. . . . . . .
"Paula, answer the door", my mom yelled from the kitchen angrily.
I never knew I was gone for so long, I sprung to my feet and went to get the door. I couldn't get over what my eyes met next, it was unbelievable and I just stood perplexed, surprised and happy struggling to hide the smile springing from within and I felt butterflies in my stomach all at once.
"Hi. . . . . . . . .", he called out after waiting for response
He has even spoken before now, I chuckled weirdly trying to get our of the La-La Land.
"Sorry. . . .Buenos Dias"
He nodded, looking into my eyes again and it sent down chill down my spine.
"I'm Dalton, one of the agents sent down here", taking a quick look around he added "I need your help, I don't know if you can be my guide".
"Ohhh....Sure I can, what is it that you want", I responded striving to be alert.
"A comfortable place to stay while the operation goes on"
That sounded strange and unwarranted, my thoughts switched immediately. I looked at the Casa de especial. . . . . .. ..
"Oh that. . . ",He chuckled...."hmm. .... . sincerely I can't stay in they nor here". Seeing the irritated look on my face, rephrased almost immediately
"No...no..no, don't get me wrong my Lady....
Who is this freaking guy, I thought in my head laughing.
"I meant I can't stay in the house nor the town.. . . . . .. . . . .this place is horrible, I have been wondering how you guys cope here"
"Worst"
He chuckled again peering from corner to corner,
"Disculpe", I said, in total disbelieve, I guess the love at first sight charm had just faded.
". . .. .there is no enough food here, no clean and clear water, no electricity. . . . . . . mosquitoes snare at me every second and the bed!", He groaned with a frustrated gaze. . . . . ... "Is as hard as a rock!", he descended.
"I don't know if they are hotels around, comfortable ones", he added after receiving no response.
I was lost again, gazing at him like an alien. I couldn't bring myself to absolve the whole complaint of the house the whole town hold in high esteem.
I was still gathering my thoughts, arranging them in a less aggressive way. . . . . . .. ...
"A hotel is a commercial place one pays for residence for some time which has every house service, like food, drinks, toilet, AC, . . . "
"I know what an hotel is, I'm literate enough", I cut him shut rudely.
