Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 Blood Lust

KIKORU YAMADA

...................

The wind resistance continued to slap my face matter which direction I took, the air keeps entering my lungs to the extent that I felt close to choking. Truth be told I am not sure where I am or where to seek refuge even all that matters right now is to run from those people whose are chasing after me. The moment I take a sharp left something jabs deep into my right foot.

I wince at the pain yet still I press on only that this time my speed has reduced drastically. The previous high speed has taken an awful turn into a limping run. As though thing cold not get any more worse, when I lose my focus for a split second my right ankle gets a head on collision against a rock that perfectly blends with the environment.

I fell face first on to the ground giving my tongue an opportunity to explore the taste of dirt and some withered grass and leaves, I fail to rise up due to the heavy sense of fatigue and the intense sense of pain from the right foot that cause me to sqirm in agony.

Far behind, my eyes get the sight of a faint lit torch, the figures drawn by the light from the torch inform me that they are the same people from before. I can tell because to I memorized every detail about them.

I hear their irritated grunts and an ominous laugh that I hoped deep in my heart that it was not reserved for my death. An ironic chuckle slip through my lips as I force myself back on to my feet. After all these days I have spent on his trail have been for naught.

Tears threaten to slide down my dry cheeks but I force them back. I scan my surroundings then heave out a big sigh of relief, still some time left. The people chasing me are close I can feel it deep in my bones, I can hear the crunch of boots against the earth.

Quickly I pretend to be very, something like that is not a pretence because I am very weak. A total of seven grown up men against a weak 15 year old girl, all ready to kill but the true question I have on my mind is that....

"Are they ready to be killed?",

"You can't run away with that nasty wound poor girl",

One of the men spoke his voice kind of scratchy with a wicked smile plastered on his face as he held on to his dagger.

I turn my weak body to face the dark sky that lacks the beautiful blue and white clouds.

"Have you guys seen a boy in these parts?",

I asked running the left hand through my hair. The only words ringing into my head is "I must find him", the only reason to my current existence. One imprinted into my brain.

Two out of the five world pistols while the rest hold a machete or a dagger. I take a brief note into my head, my question still went unanswered. The one who spoke out first begins to walk leisurely towards me, all of them have completely dopped because of the sense of security they have on their numbers and weapons.

I get up again then begin to limb backwards, something seemingly rising inside me...an urge I can't overcome no mater what. The smell and taste of blood.

"Do not be shy girl",

The front row of his teeth reveal to me, I can tell he hasn't brushed them for a couple of days now, so have l.

"I will make you feel real good little girl",

His word made me stop in my tracks the intents I was having break past the limit, the sharp pain of my right foot completely goes away, pushed to the back of my mind. Survival first, pain comes later.

He stretches a hand for a grab but I scurry away from his reach while my left hand brush lightly against the ground in search for something. A piece of a broken twig sharp enough to stab someone. Thanks to my luck I found one small enough to hide as I rushed to hide behind a nearby tree. I try to gather my thoughts which begins to share and spread every single order of my will through every muscle and nerve.

"I have got no time for this",

One of them said impatiently then there was a sound like a rolling thunder in the sky, there was a gun shot and a bullet hole above the tree I am hiding.

"Get out from there Missy",

There was the feeling of butterflies going round and round in my stomach, I look behind the tree and took a look at him and the rest. I can cover the distance between us with some footwork.

I get out both my hands raised up high, the twig I took as a makeshift weapon is tucked behind me, I am ready to strike at anytime if there is an opening.

"Yeah come over here",

"Nice and easy kid",

His gun is pointed straight at me, good thing though since their formation is messed up into my advantage with the other gunner at the far back of the formation. His muscles twitch slightly and I make a sidestep.

*BANG!!
