In a confusing place, which seemed to be taken from my dreams, I was standing. It was strange, because I had already died.
I had come to accept my pain, to surrender to it, but I had never thought of dragging her with me. My eyes, completely blinded by tears, let me glimpse the weight of what I had just experienced. My conscience, or what little was left of it, made no sense in that reality that unfolded before me.
That place resembled heaven; at the same time, it was disturbingly alien. Light and darkness mingled in an indescribable scene, while a thick fog seemed to move with a life of its own.
Without warning, my eyes began to close, fading along with the scene. Then, in the midst of the gloom that invaded my senses, a familiar voice echoed in my mind.
"I will help you in every way to reach that destination," the voice faded like one in a desolate room.
I opened my eyes, and I was no longer there.
I was in another location, totally unfamiliar. My thoughts were trying to process what I had experienced. I looked around me and a group of older men surrounded me, all with serious faces and inquisitive looks forming a circle around me, as if they were watching me at some kind of altar.
Among them all, the figure of a woman of almost divine beauty stood out, with a serene countenance and a deep expression.
She was in front of me; her presence seemed to illuminate that place as if she were the incarnation of a god.
