Soren
I spent the entire evening pacing my office, the knot of worry in my stomach tightening with every passing minute. It was late, and Rowan still wasn't back. I had called him countless times, but each attempt went unanswered. The silence on his end was deafening, and it left me spiraling into worst-case scenarios.
Was he done with me?
Did he deceive us and leave this whole time?
What do I have to do to make him talk to me?
Nevermind that it was just a day since we had that fight. I was too proud to say I was sorry but I didn't want to lose him.
It was foolish of me to think he would let this go since the one thing he hated were lies and being talked down on.
I did both successfully without batting an eye.
I was deep in my thoughts about the worst case scenario when my phone finally rang. I grabbed it without looking at the screen, hoping it was him. "Rowan?" I answered, but the voice on the other end wasn't his.
