Soren
I leaned against the balcony railing, my eyes scanning the sprawling estate below. I took Rowan's advice and stepped out in the midst of my guards.
They were all surprised to see me but it didn't lower their respect for me, it warmed my hearts to hear that Rowan must have warned them.
Rudolf stood in the courtyard below me where I could still see him, he was gesturing as he gave orders to a few guards. I haven't given him much of a thought since he was still doing his job but I couldn't get Rowan's voice out of my head. He didn't trust Rudolf but he had been with me since our old days. I found it hard that he would do something like that to me.
I called out to him, "Rudolf, any updates on the shipments?"
He looked up, shielding his eyes from the sun. "They'll arrive by sundown tomorrow. Everything is on track."
"Good," I said with a curt nod. "I want the inventory checked twice. No mistakes."
