...…

"They didn't have to dump my body in an abandoned mall. A befitting burial wouldn't hurt, though." Arsenal grumbled while staring around the vicinity he just woke up to.

He was shocked to still be alive,

"I guess it was not time to die yet," He thought to himself, ignoring the holographic image hovering in mid-air.

He stood up from where he was seated and headed for the door but bumped into a wall. This wouldn't have been shocking, but Arsenal did not see any wall in front of him.

Maybe it wasn't a wall? But surely there was something stopping him from making it to the door.

[ Congratulation are the new host of the Beast Mode system]]

Even though the voice sounded mechanical, Arsenal couldn't tell whether it was his head speaking or the floating picture…

"The hell is this?" He pondered, running his finger through the image. But rather than going through, the image reacted to his touch just like a mobile device.

He was able to swipe through a bunch of awakening procedures, and even though it seemed weird, he was mindlessly scrolling until he reached the last slide.

[ Hello ]

"You … you are speaking?"

[ Yes, I am. Surprised? ]

"No, I'm not. Technology has advanced these days. It just makes no sense why they'll put up such a system in an abandoned mall."

[ I'm bound to your consciousness, Arsenal Basset]

"Excuse me?"

Now he was thrilled, his eyes widened as he looked at the screen,

"You… are a system, like a system system?"

[ Whatsoever you chose to call me ]

"Wow, so it means I died, doesn't it?" He asked, his shoulder dropped in disappointment,

"But then why am I in an abandoned mall?"

[ Can you allow me to introduce myself now? ]

"Oh, sure," He replied. It was quite strange how he reacted to the sudden shift in reality, but to Arsenal it felt quite natural, like he was dreaming.

[ I am … you can say that I am a system, and just like any other system, I give you a special ability, tasks to complete and a special reward for each one.]

[ My role with you is very simple, I will guide you with a series of tasks. These tasks are designed to train and prepare you to save the people of Gnoman from the terrorist whom they are forced to worship as their god]

"I'm sorry?"

[ His name is Eldrith, and he is the most powerful being in all of Gnoman…

"I meant, the Gnoman part, what is that?"

[ Pardon me. You have been transported to a planet known as Gnoman, which is very similar to Earth. These people are being oppressed for so long by this supreme being, and you have been chosen to put an end to it. ]

"Why me, though?" Arsenal inquired. He totally ignored the fact that he had just been taken out of his own planet. Who knows, he may have even died, and this was the afterlife.

[ Because while roaming around, searching for a new body to possess, your consciousness was floating in the air. You look weaker than the other host. They all failed, but I can train you, just like i did to them, and hopefully, you won't. ]

"This is so weird, so you are a system, and you have selected me to be your next attempt at defeating a god? If he is their god, why not leave him alone?"

[ He is not their god, there is only one God who watches over the universes. Eldrith is just an entity from a distant galaxy who found this planet inhabitable.]

"Why not let God take care of him then?"

[ Honestly, I don't know… maybe he is using me to take care of it. Like I said, I don't know, I'm not omniscient ]

"That makes no sense, but go on."

[ Eldrith's powers are beyond comprehension, so he became their ruler. The whole of Gnoman is under his rule, just like a totalitarian rule on earth. It will be too much information for now, but you'll understand as time goes by ]

"I'm up for it," Arsenal exclaimed with a hint of enthusiasm,

"Not like I have anything else to do now that I am dead."

[ Actually, I designed it so that you can return to earth after you complete a task. You will return to Gnoman whenever I want you to. Every 48 hours you spend on Gnoman is 1 second on earth, but that doesn't mean that every one second you spend on earth is 48 hours on Gnoman ]

"What?" Arsenal said with raised brow.

[ You don't have to understand. There are limits to human knowledge. So let me just fast forward to how this will work. I have selected the beast mode for you. The last six modes were a disaster. You complete tasks, and earn real money on your earthly bank account. ]

"Oh, okay, I kinda like that."

[ You listen and do as I say. The last seven hosts were stubborn. Also, try not to die in the process, I designed this as a system so it'll be fun for you, and you can look forward to earning something on earth. If you die here, you'll be in a coma on earth until you get old and die eventually. Got it?]

"Yup,"

[ Alright, anything else you want to ask me?]

"Yes, where are the stats?"

[ It appears that you are very eager… I never designed a stat for any host before, but I put this together for you ]

[System Status]

[ Name: ArsenalBassett ]

[ Rank: 7/7 ]

[ Level: 1]

[Experience points 0/100]

[Attributes: Tap to view ]

- Strength: 10

- Agility: 10

- Intelligence: 10

- Wisdom: 10

- Charisma: 10

[ Skills: Beast Combat, Survival Instincts ]

[ Quests: Tap to view your current and previous tasks]

[Inventory: Tap to view]

- Backpack (empty)

[ System Currency "Aether coin" (AC): 10 ]

[Note: Leveling Up ]

[ You earns experience points by completing quests, defeating enemies, and exploring the planet. And when you accumulate enough experience points, you level up. Each level increases your attributes and allows you to unlock new skills]

[ Note: Ranking ]

[ The class of beasts you have successfully defeated on your journey will determine your rank. These beasts are divided into seven classes from Agents to Eldrith with each classes higher than the other. Agents are the weakest and are just like police officers on earth, defeating one of them will not increase your rank because they are ranked as number 7, other being below them are number 8, while Eldrith is number 1 and there is nothing above him.]

[ Note: Earning Rewards]

[ You earns Aether Coins by completing quests, selling items, and defeating enemies. And Aether Coins can be used to purchase items, skills, and attributes from the system's shop.]

[You also earn a certain amount of money for each task, and it will be deposited in your bank account on earth]

[ Also note that the skills under the beast mode are currently basic skills good enough to survive amongst agents. As your rank increases, more skills will be added. Special skills might be added as a reward for a completed task... again, its probability]

"That is a pretty basic stat," Arsenal commended with a grin,

"I hope I don't wake up from this dream, it's fantastic," He kept these thoughts to himself and proceeded to click on the blinking tab.

"My first task, huh? Let's see what it is." Once he clicked on the notification, his very first task popped up.

[ Rescue Ohana from the Agents ]

[Rewards : + 10 exp, +20 Aether coins, + $? ]

"Who the hell is Ohana?"
