Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: Fleeting

Several minutes later, all my classmates had woken up and were chatting amongst themselves, getting used to the system of Untethered.

[Name:] Alex

[Title:]???

[Level:] 1

[EXP:] 0/100

[Skills:] Oversaturation, Memory Palace, Echolocation, Art of Learning, Ambidexterity, Martial Arts, Anti-Lip Sync, Invisibility, Manipulation, Technical Knowledge (depreciated)

[Aliases:] The Mastermind, The Fool

[Debuffs:] Partial Hearing, Myopic Vision, Anti-Lip Sync, Rizzless

I was sitting under a tree while checking out my stats.

[Aliases:] The Mastermind, The Fool

What do these imply?

[Alias:] The Mastermind: You have a reputation for orchestrating events from behind the scenes. This alias grants a 5% boost to all intellectual-based skills.

[Alias:] The Fool: The Fool represents the beginning of new events but is often shrouded in mystery. This alias causes nearby players and NPCs to underestimate you.

Hmm...interesting...

Strangely enough, that thought wasn't invoked by the information displayed before me, instead it was because I was 'observing' an object of interest.

These jiggle physics are impressive.

I thought as I gazed at one of my female classmates, Zara. She was a plump and slightly tan girl with voluptuous proportions.

Signs and symptoms of virginity, my inner voice said. I ignored him as I snapped back to the HUD.

Let's see the debuffs...

[Debuffs:] Partial Hearing, Myopic Vision, Anti-Lip Sync, Rizzless

Describe.

[Debuff:] Partial Hearing: Your ancestors weren't so kind to you in terms of hearing, through your imperfect DNA you acquired a flawed version. This debuff reduces spatial awareness and sound processing skills.

[Debuff:] Myopic Vision: You brought this on yourself. Your constant overuse of screened devices caused a huge damage to your eyesight. This debuff reduces your spatial awareness and visual processing skills.

[Debuff:] Anti-Lip Sync: A flaw and a skill. In the early stages of your adolescence, you created a skill to defend against lip readers but this turned into a double-edged sword. This debuff reduces your audio processing skills.

[Debuff:] Rizzless: No words needed.

I stared at the interface with a strange expression.

Alright, who cooked this list.

My expression was extremely serious and rather dark.

I gotta hit a pose, so I don't break something.

AHAHAHAHAHA!

My inner voice laughed at my dismay, Gods I can't! Who did this? They need a raise!

AHAHAHAHA!

Don't break composure, don't break composure!

I quickly glanced away from the debuff list and turned to another part of the interface.

Let's see my skills...

[Skills:] Oversaturation, Memory Palace, Echolocation, Art of Learning, Ambidexterity, Martial Arts, Anti-Lip Sync, Invisibility, Manipulation, Technical Knowledge (depreciated)

I don't think this is all my skills though...but...

Oversaturation...

[Skill:] Oversaturation: A skill every human being is born with that allows one to connect to spiritual entities as well as perform miracles. Yours has been honed to perfection due to diligent practices of meditation. This skill allows you to effortlessly absorb the World's Energy.

I brought a hand to my chin and had a thoughtful look on my face.

Connect to spiritual entities...is it like those novels where you need magical creatures called familiars...

I frowned for a while and then glanced around.

"Hmm...now that I think about it...I haven't come across a single animal since we got here...", I looked down at the grass and mumbled, "Not even insects..."

I sighed before standing up and then looking in the direction of the forest.

Meh...they probably won't be in a clearing like this...

"They'll be deep in the forest...but also..."

I have to figure out how to use magic...

....

I had ventured into the thicket to explore. I wanted to go alone but sadly, Seba hadn't let me.

[Name:] Vicki

[True Name:]???

[Level:] 1

[EXP:] 0/100

[Skills:] Total Assimilation, Saturation, Ease of Learning, Parallel Processing, Seduction, Air Affinity, General Knowledge (depreciated)

[Aliases:] Little Devil, Dr. Vicki, Tiny Girl

[Debuffs:] Myopic Vision, Weakness, Naivete, Lolita

I observed the sturdy but surprisingly smooth bark of a Wyvern Wood tree. My hand stroked it gently as I looked closely at it. The tree's bark was slightly ashen.

I truly don't even understand how a tree's bark can be so smooth...

I lingered for a moment and shrugged.

Then again this is just a game...

I turned to my stats panel and studied my debuffs, plopping to the ground and resting on the bark of the tree.

[Debuffs:] Myopic Vision, Weakness, Ease of Learning, Lolita

[Debuff:] Myopic Vision: Your eyes are affected by the visual impairment, Myopia.

[Debuff:] Weakness: Your sedentary lifestyle has caused a decline in mental and physical capabilities. This debuff causes a 30% decrease in all categories and skill effects. Note: This debuff will wear off as you level up.

[Debuff:] Ease of Learning: The school system's method of education has greatly declined over the years causing a sub-par method of learning to be impacted into the students. This debuff causes only up to 50% of a certain information to be absorbed. Note: This debuff can be removed by acquiring the skill, Art of Learning.

[Debuff:] Lolita: Your short and tiny build was spurred on by ruthless genetics, dampening your growth spurt and attracting the alias, Tiny Girl. This debuff reduces all physical abilities by 50% but improves Saturation by the same amount. Note: This debuff will never disappear.

I see...so these are our flaws...or defects rather...?

I stared at Lolita and made an annoyed expression.

"It's not my fault am so short..."

"Yeah duhh..."

I heard Seba speak as he came to sit down next to me.

"So, you figured out anything yet?", he spoke with a slightly deep voice.

"No... not yet..."

"I see...", he spoke in a gruff voice again.

I glanced at him with narrowed eyes and then said, "Stop that."

"But..."

"Stop."

"Ugh...fine."

He said before slumping his head on my lap. I sighed before patting his head, and then stroking his hair.

Seba was a boy of acceptable height with fair skin and chestnut hair, he's fairly muscular and has a playful personality which can be alluring and irritating at times. He's my boyfriend and a very good one at that.

He's practically the only guy I'll let little spoon me...

I stared at his face, which was fair in complexion and then at his closed eyes before drifting to his lips.

"If you wanna kiss then just say it.", he said with one eye open.

I jolted slightly and my cheeks turned red as I retorted, "No. No. I was just observing..."

"Man... this side of you is too damn cute.", he said as he sat up.

Suddenly, Seba brought his hand to my chin and pulled me towards him, before crashing his lips into mine.

There in the embrace of the Wyvern Woods we shared a long passionate kiss.

...

"Ha...", I sighed as I checked my stats.

[Name:] Dave

[True Name:]???

[Level:] 1

[EXP:] 0/100

[Skills:] Appraisal, Saturation, Ease of Learning, Persuasion, Seduction, Artistic Sense, Ice Affinity

[Aliases:] Davy Frosty, Master of the Arts

[Debuffs:] Dysfunctional Right Hand, Weakness, Ease of Learning, Gayshit

"Let's check all the debuffs.", I said as I stroked my chin.

[Debuff:] Dysfunctional Right Hand: Your right hand has suffered severe punishment in the past further preventing optimal use in the future. This debuff causes a 10% decrease in all right-handed attack damage.

[Debuff:] Weakness: Your sedentary lifestyle has caused a decline in mental and physical capabilities. This debuff causes a 30% decrease in all categories and skill effects. Note: This debuff will wear off as you level up.

Wow...didn't know I had this kind of debuffs...

I glanced at my right hand with a raised eyebrow.

I have broken my hand a couple of times...but...this Weakness, can be removed by leveling up...?

I pondered as I checked my other debuffs.

[Debuff:] Gayshit: Your crazy nature of involving yourself in homosexual situations has earned you this debuff. This debuff causes you to feel a strong sense of discomfort around women and a greater sense of comfort around men. Note: This debuff will never disappear and will grow stronger the closer you are to women. Will only wear off if you truly become gay.

The fuck?! This game is wild!

I covered my face with my hand and sighed, I have to figure out how to level up.
