Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: Immersion

I left my classmates to their devices and wandered off to a different direction. I planned on exploring the surroundings of the lake.

Who knows I might find something here?

I was in desperate need of a pointer, or anything at all. The game that we had just been plopped into seemed too ambiguous. Our Hud didn't instruct us on what to do, and the environment gave off a somewhat ominous feeling.

I just feel strange...

I walked around the lake while observing all the flora littered across the ground, each of the flowers were of different breeds but they seemed indistinguishable from each other. I crouched down and took one in my hand; looking at it closely.

These developers really outdid themselves...

I stared at it for a moment and then tossed it aside.

"Stats."

[Name:] Alex

[Title:]???

[Level:] 1

[EXP:] 0/100

[Skills:] Oversaturation, Memory Palace, Echolocation, Art of Learning, Ambidexterity, Martial Arts, Anti-Lip Sync, Invisibility, Manipulation, Technical Knowledge (depreciated), Pickpocket, Panoramic Vision

[Aliases:] The Mastermind, The Fool

[Debuffs:] Partial Hearing, Myopic Vision, Anti-Lip Sync, Rizzless

I stared at the two new skills that had been added.

Hmm...it seems the game is still synchronizing us to it...it's slowly installing our software into the program...or something like that...

"This game truly is something else..."

Hyper-realistic graphics, full body rendering, and a fully responsive environment...

"It's just like a fantasy world...", I uttered as a slight gale caressed my faced and blew my waistcoat backwards, "Like a dream..."

I smiled slightly, watching the rushing water of the tall waterfall and then the figures of my classmates playing in the lake.

Lil David who had excitedly jumped into the water, seemed to be unable to swim; constantly, relying on Eliza to transverse the lake. Dave seemed to be assisting Kansola with moving in the water while Ayarr and Fawn were playing with each other. Generally, they all seemed to be enjoying themselves.

But...they seemed to be staying close to the shore as well.

Of course, the fools are scared of the water, its already a miracle that they even entered the lake...

I paused for a moment and then turned to the waterfall.

"Come to think of it, where does this waterfall come from?"

I lingered for a moment, lost in thought, then I turned to my classmates who seemed to be oblivious to my presence.

"Oh well...might as well find out."

With that, I set out on another adventure to find the source of the waterfall.

...

"Dave-ahaha"

Kansola giggled in response to my aqua assault.

"Here it comes!", I cried as I swung a handful of water against her.

"Ah!", she yelped as the orb of water struck her.

I grinned as I prepared another one but suddenly, she exclaimed, "Wait!"

I raised an eyebrow and asked, "What? Are you ok?"

She seemed slightly dazed and then said, "My uniform...it's really wet."

I furrowed my eyebrows and said, "Why didn't you take it off then?"

Hol'up that came out wrong!

"What?!", she exclaimed, startled.

"Ugh...what I meant to say is...you should have at least taken off the waistcoat..."

"Oh...umm..."

I lingered for a moment as she clumsily tried to take of her waistcoat, as I stared at her. I noticed that I could see through her clothes...

Her bra is black and-

Composure!

I slapped my face and forced myself to look elsewhere.

"Dave...", Kansola called out my name in a needy tone, causing me to jolt and turn to her slowly.

"What is it?", I asked in a serious voice.

"My...skirt...I think...I might need to take it off...", she said while fidgeting, a furious red blush was plastered across her cheeks.

I stared at her incredulously.

Do you want to kill my lil bro?!

I took a deep breath, then another and then turned to her. My eyes were filled with determination and a hint of dark glee was present.

Oh well...game is game...

"Fine then, take it off.", I said, my voice and expression were perfectly poised.

She stared at me for a moment and then looked down slowly before reaching for the hem of her skirt. She paused for a moment and then said, "Dave...can you turn around?"

I gulped and then turned away, using my body as a shield to defend her from any prying eyes. I strained every muscle fiber in my body to keep my lil bro from waking up.

Composure! Don't let them catch you lacking!

Soon, she had pulled off her skirt.

"Dave, take..."

I collected what she had handed me, while still keeping my back turned.

Her tie, waistcoat and skirt...

Slowly, we drifted to the shore of the lake and dropped them in the grass. Once we moved back to the lake, she wrapped her hands around my torso, causing her chest to press my back tightly.

Woah! Lil bro don't wak-

"Thank you..."

She spoke in a sincere and innocent tone.

My expression was filled with bewilderment before it came to a subtle tone of shame.

Taking off those clothes must have been hard for her...and here I am thinking about foolish things...

I turned around to look at her, wrapping my hands around her lithe body which was only wearing the pink shirt and her pink panties. Her chest was pressed against mine but I couldn't be bothered. I looked at her with a smile and said, "It's ok...you're my girlfriend after all."

She looked at me, seemingly lost in thought, before smiling warmly. I pulled her closer wanting to rest my head on hers when her expression froze.

"Umm...Dave...your....uhh...something is pressing against me..."

Instantly, my brain short-circuited when I realized what she meant.

"What the sigma?"

...

HUFF! HUFF!!

I panted heavily as I ascended the steep slope the waterfall descended from.

Damn...didn't think...it would be this hard...wait that's bullshit! Even thinking of climbing this thing is crazy!

The protrusion I was climbing wasn't particularly tall, in fact, compared to the monstrous sizes of the Wyvern Trees, this slope was relatively modest. I was currently climbing a part of it that I had found somewhat 'climbable'. This part compared to the others was less rough but was also situated a couple of meters away from the lake so, I couldn't particularly see my classmates.

Not that I would want to...

I shook my head and continued ascending. Still even though, this slope was climbable it still seemed like it wasn't meant for climbing. It had so many sharp edges and rough lumps as well as too many dead ends. I constantly had to find another climbing path to continue mounting the wall.

A couple of cuts had already formed on my hands but yet I had persisted.

Heh...who knew I could be so stubborn...

A grin made its way to my face when a new cut formed on my right thumb, and then on my left index and then on my palm. I hissed slightly as I accidentally ended up cutting my face.

[You have been wounded.]

"Shit..."

The game resounded once again for the umpteenth time, causing me to scowl. I had found out earlier that it announces if a player is injured when I accidentally bruised my arm on a rock. I touched the injury on my face and winced.

The wound was rather deep, and it was still bleeding.

Better hope it's not infected...

I grimaced before looking up.

"Am so close..."

I took a deep breath and then planted my foot on a rough platform below it before kicking up again.

Almost there...

The end of the slope was rather close, I was almost there.

I grinned and laughed, "Haha!"

As I put my hand on the next rock lump I could find, I planted my left leg on another lump below it but the moment I kicked up, the platform I was holding broke and thus...

I fell.
