FEW MINUTES LATER: RG ENTERTAINMENT
***********************************************
Mei Ling POV
I stood in front of the tall building that produces and promotes entertainment in Beijing, china. This company gives society hundreds of talents every year, and they hold award-giving ceremonies that are always epic as every influencer and celebrity wants to be invited.
I wondered if I could make it in such a big and profound company if I would be able to work my way up from the bottom, or if I'll even be hired at all; I guess I will have to find out.
So I inhaled a deep breath, then exhaled. Today is going to be a good day. I am going to work at RG. Entertainment or I'll die trying, and I will become successful here.
I inhaled a deep breath again, marched towards the entrance, and entered the revolving glass door, but for some reason, I kept ending up outside, and the movement of the door started making me dizzy.
After the second time, I stood glaring at the door, I hadn't even started and I was already having problems, just then a couple walked past me towards the door, I studied their movement and mimicked them, so after the third try, I find myself inside the building, the cold blast of air conditioner hitting me from every corner.
A lot was going on and people were minding their business, so I walked off the main entrance and headed for some doors on the left. I almost got lost but I finally found the PR department.
The receptionist gave me a number, number 17. I stood by the door and waited for my number to be called, after what felt like forever, it was finally my turn.
I entered the office and met a well-dressed and beautiful woman sitting behind the desk. She looked slightly older and extremely beautiful; thank God Wei Qing had forced me to comb my hair, or else I would feel inferior to her.
I walked toward the woman, a small smile on my face as I stood before her desk.
"Hello, are you Mei Ling?" She asked politely.
"Yes, I am,"
"OK, take a seat, I will be carrying out your interview," She said as I took a seat opposite her.
"So what is your major and why did you want to work here?" She asked
"I had loved singing since I was a kid, so I went to a musical high school "Flower high" and I did music and theater art at the university, during the process of my learning at the university level, I realized that I have no potentials to stand and sing on stage but knowing that I still want to work with something or someone related to music" I finished my story and she looked impressed.
"I think you would do fine here; the PR department needs talented younger people with fresh ideas. I will go through your files, and we will get back to you," She was saying when a lady who looked my age barged in from one of the doors with tears dripping down her face.
She looked like someone who had just lost her best friend.
When she reached the woman's table, she dropped the box in her hand on the table.
"I quit," the lady said amidst tears.
"What is it, Jian? What has happened this time around?" The woman interviewing me asked the lady while I looked on, eager to hear tidbits as well.
"I am so sorry, I can't do this anymore; anytime he yells at me, I feel like I am not good enough even though it was not always my fault; I always feel it was because I am not good enough to work with him," the lady said in tears.
My mouth was hanging open, and I knew it, but I just couldn't help myself. You gotta be kidding me; how can you quit a job because someone yells at you? If someone yells at you, you should just yell right back; that's how the world works.
The lady walked sluggishly out of the office while the woman stared after her with a frown on her face as if she had just caused a huge problem but when the woman's face landed on me, her face brightened up like she had just seen the solution to the problem.
"Back to our discussion before I was interrupted," She said and paused; I looked at her eagerly, waiting to hear her response.
"You are hired," she announced after a brief pause, and I jumped up in jubilation. I am finally employed and an official member of RG. Entertainment, the world-famous musical company based in Beijing.
I was still jubilating and grinning widely when I realized I didn't even know what I was being hired for.
"Ma, but what exactly am I being employed to do?" I asked.
"Don't worry about that, you..." She was saying when someone barged in again.
"Where is Jian?" A voice interrupted from behind me; I turned back to see a good-looking guy come in the way I came in. "She is supposed to be here to help me move the costume," he said, sounding perplexed.
"She quit," the woman replied. "But Mei Ling will help you with it," the woman said, referring to me.
"She quit?" The new guy asked with incredulity, "She just started three months ago."
"That is the way it is with Michael and his assistants; I just hope this one will last longer," she said, almost like she was speaking to herself.
"Anyway, you will help him move the costume, and then you can go home and resume tomorrow, and as for what you are being employed for, you will find out tomorrow," the woman said and dismissed me.
I stood up and went to find the guy who was waiting for me outside the office and we headed towards the exit of the company.
"My name is Steven Chang, I work in the PR department, are you new here? Because it seems have never seen you before" he said starting up a conversation
"Yes, I am new here; I just came for an interview today and am already employed. My name is Mei Ling but you can call me Mei Mei since we will be working together," I replied, pleased with myself for sounding so professional.
"Steven then," he said, extending his hand for a handshake, and I offered mine as well.
"Which department are you employed in?" He asked again.
"I don't know yet, but I will find out tomorrow," I said as we got outside and carried the big box containing clothes. It was heavy, so we began moving it together.
"Well, no matter what department you are in, we will surely welcome you with open arms, and I look forward to working together with you," he said, and I smiled at him as we climbed the stairs.
When we reached the landing, we stopped to catch our breath and I heard music filtering out from everywhere.
"We are taking it to the studio, it is for the top artist of our company," he said and directed me to a door.
I shouldered open the door and stood, staring in awe; there was light everywhere; the studio was busy, make-up artists were working on some celebrity faces, some were sorting through costumes, the light was being rearranged by some people, and this was a dream come true.
I blinked my eyes when I saw Sophia, the hotshot model with a killer body. I recognized some other celebrities and dancers as well; it seemed they were getting prepared to shoot a dance video.
I was lost staring everywhere. I didn't notice someone standing right beside me; I bumped into the person, and the person fell to the ground; I wasn't able to see the person's face.
"Sorry," I muttered an apology as I dropped the box in my hand, only to look up to find everybody in the room staring at me in awe, even Steven.
I wondered what was wrong with my face, did I look weird, but then my eyes landed on the figure still sprawled on the floor.
It was as if time stopped as I stared into Michael's(Lin Yan) face.
The man who received Oscars for having the most handsome face in the world two years ago and is still receiving them.
Lin Yan, The popular and famous musician, model, and artist, the number one star in rock entertainment, and a renowned playboy with a taste for hotshot models; I looked at his face and realized how handsome he was.
His pictures on magazines and television did not do him justice; he is better looking in person with his angular face that is made for the camera, the dark hair that flops over his forehead, and a body worth dying for.
I looked into his very black eyes, and they were as hard as bricks and as cold as ice; they were totally devoid of emotions, just a blank expression.
Now I realize why everyone is looking at me as if I have grown a horn.
I just made the most famous man in the world land on his butt, and right in front of his peerage.
I haven't started working, and I already messed things up; I am so dead.
