After a night of unparalleled luxury in his villa, Jay felt a new confidence brewing inside him. He'd woken up in a bed fit for royalty, with city skyline views that only reminded him how drastically his life had changed. After a quiet breakfast, he decided to visit his hotel, the Sunlight Hotel, to get a sense of how things operated and to make a good impression on the staff.
As he entered the marble-floored lobby, Jay sensed the high energy in the air. Staff members were buzzing around, keeping everything running smoothly. He overheard a few whispers near the front desk.
"She's in a mood again," one of the receptionists murmured to a bellhop. "The car she booked is in for repairs, and she needs to get to some high-profile function."
"Good luck handling her," the bellhop replied, wide-eyed. "She's got standards higher than this hotel itself."
Jay's interest piqued. Curious, he approached the front desk. "Is there a guest with a transportation issue?" he asked, sounding casual but with an air of authority.
The receptionist straightened, immediately recognizing him as the new owner. "Yes, Mr. Jay. Miss Amelia Voss—a very high-profile guest—is staying with us. She's due at an important event today, but the car we arranged has gone in for repairs. We haven't found a replacement yet, and… well, Miss Voss is known for being very particular."
Jay smirked, glancing back at the sleek Aston Martin he'd parked out front. It was one of the most exclusive cars available, a statement of both power and elegance. He had a feeling it might just turn this situation around. "No problem," he said confidently. "I'll handle it personally."
The receptionist looked relieved, and Jay made his way to the elevator to meet his guest. He knocked on the suite door, and after a moment, it opened to reveal a woman whose beauty was striking. She had a composed elegance, her dark hair falling in soft waves, and she carried herself with an aura of confidence. She seemed taken aback as she looked at him, her eyes lingering a bit longer than necessary, clearly registering his handsome features.
"Yes?" she asked, eyebrows arched, her tone polite but slightly cool.
Jay nodded respectfully. "Miss Voss, I'm Jay, the owner of the Sunlight Hotel. I heard there was a mix-up with your transportation. I'd be happy to drive you to your event personally, if you're willing. My car's ready downstairs."
Amelia's gaze softened, a hint of curiosity replacing her initial guarded expression. "You're the owner? And you're offering to drive me yourself?"
He gave her a small smile. "Yes. I think you'll find my car… suitable. Would you care to join me?"
For a moment, she seemed torn between maintaining her distance and accepting the unexpected offer. But then, with a nod, she said, "All right, Mr. Jay. Lead the way."
Jay guided her through the lobby, where a few staff members exchanged curious glances. Outside, Amelia stopped short as she saw the Aston Martin gleaming in the sunlight. Her eyes widened slightly, a genuine look of appreciation crossing her face.
"This is yours?" she asked, her tone warming further as she glanced back at him.
"All yours for the ride," he replied, opening the passenger door for her.
She stepped in, settling into the leather seat, and Jay circled around to the driver's side. As he started the engine, the car hummed to life, exuding both power and elegance. Inside, Jay noticed how she seemed relaxed, with a touch of amusement flickering in her eyes as she looked over at him.
"So, Miss Voss, what do you do for a living?" he asked, genuinely curious.
She gave him a small, almost playful smile. "I own the third-largest food chain in the country," she replied, watching his reaction.
Jay blinked, impressed. "That's… impressive," he said, admiring her poise. But when she asked about his work, he paused briefly, deciding to be honest.
"I work as a drivio driver. Part-time, that is."
For a second, Amelia looked genuinely surprised, as though trying to connect the dots between the Aston Martin and his casual confession. "A driver?" she echoed, intrigued. "In an Aston Martin?"
Jay laughed. "Let's just say life has been unpredictable lately."
She gave him a long look, as if trying to understand this mystery. "Unpredictable, huh? I'll keep that in mind," she said, a small smile playing at the corners of her lips.
As they approached the grand entrance of the event, the valets and guests alike turned to look. The sleek Aston Martin certainly caught attention, but so did the duo stepping out of it together. Jay got out and walked around to open Amelia's door, and as she stepped out, several people nearby gave him approving looks, whispering amongst themselves.
One older woman nearby seemed especially taken aback, murmuring to her friend, "Is that her boyfriend? He must be, arriving in that car!"
Jay noticed Amelia's cheeks turn the faintest shade of pink, and she glanced at him with a bemused smile. "Looks like you're giving people the wrong idea, Mr. Jay."
He chuckled. "Would you like me to correct them?"
She shook her head, holding back a smile. "No, let them wonder."
Before they parted ways, she reached into her purse, producing her phone. "Since you're so full of surprises… maybe you can share more of them. Here." She handed him her phone, a clear invitation.
Jay smiled, entering his number before handing it back. "Anytime, Miss Voss."
As she walked up the red carpet toward the venue, Jay couldn't shake the feeling that this wasn't the last he'd see of her. Watching her glance back at him one last time, he knew she was intrigued—maybe as much as he was.
Back in the Aston Martin, he grinned to himself, feeling as though life had suddenly opened a door he never knew existed. Whatever else the future held, he was ready to face it head-on.
