Chapter 137 - Chapter 137: Planting the Life-Devouring Ancient Tree

Han Peipei was highly ambitious. She knew that, without connections, rising through the ranks of the Imperial Fleet was a challenge. Her smooth journey thus far was thanks to her abilities and the backing of the Feng family. The military personnel allied with General Gu often looked out for her, a testament to the strength of the Feng family's influence and Feng Mo's own reputation. In the Yunshan Empire, those from the Celestial Cloud Prime Star could proudly declare themselves citizens of both the Federation and Yunshan Empire, as well as loyal subjects of Duke Feng Mo.

Han Peipei arrived on the fourth day of Feng Mo's month-long stay with Chu Yunjian. Feng Mo didn't meet her directly, instead instructing Hua Qin to familiarize her with the Hurricane and teach her the responsibilities of an effective secretary.

As the lord of four star systems, Feng Mo's free time was limited, so the month spent with Chu Yunjian was already quite generous. But as the month ended, he boarded the Hurricane, bidding farewell to Chu Yunjian's reluctant gaze. His first stop on the return journey was the Elf Prime Star in the Storm System.

It had been a while since he'd seen Kailan. After Feng Mo relocated his base to the Hurricane Prime Star, Kailan had returned to the Elf Prime Star. As the Hurricane docked at Port No. 1, Feng Mo disembarked, only to be greeted by Kailan, who abandoned her queenly poise and threw herself into his arms without hesitation.

Feng Mo gently patted her shoulder and spoke softly, "You've worked hard."

Tears welled in Kailan's eyes. "It's not hard at all. Serving you, my Duke, is my greatest joy."

She stepped back, resuming her dignified demeanor as the Elf Queen. Kailan was aware of Feng Mo's fondness for contrasts—she presented a regal image publicly, yet embraced a more tender side in private, much to Feng Mo's delight.

They returned to the elven palace, where Feng Mo placed the lead box in front of her and motioned for her to open it. Kailan donned her special gloves, opened the lead box, and took out the T3 Life Tree seed. Feeling the immense life force within it, she exclaimed in delight, "Is this a T3 Life Tree seed?"

Feng Mo nodded. "The Elf Prime Star already has a T2 Life Tree, and your people are well-versed in nurturing these trees. I'll entrust this seed to the elves. The arrangement is as usual: each harvest, five-tenths will go to the territory, two-tenths to me, and the remaining three-tenths for the elves to keep."

Overjoyed, Kailan nodded. The three-tenths share was a blessing to the elves, a reward for her loyalty, which she was determined to repay through faithful service to her lord.

She had a surprise for Feng Mo as well. Kailan's nurturing qualities made every encounter between them a novel experience. Feng Mo ended up staying on the Elf Prime Star for seven days before finally boarding the Hurricane and setting off for the Hurricane Prime Star.

Upon arrival, he found Ai Er waiting at the spaceport. Though she'd been assigned to stay on Beast Roar Prime Star, the news of his return had brought her back eagerly. She stood quietly, gazing at him with deep affection. For Feng Mo, Ai Er held a special place in his heart; she'd been there to support him from the very beginning, guiding him as he grew, helping him achieve his accomplishments, aided by the Spark System.

Ai Er had sacrificed much, and as Feng Mo rose in power, he kept his promise by avenging her and the interstellar succubi.

"Back at last. Seems Miss Chu and Kailan kept you busy," she teased.

Feng Mo smiled sheepishly. The past month had indeed been full of indulgence, but he'd returned knowing many tasks awaited his decision.

Taking Ai Er's hand, Feng Mo, Hua Qin, and Han Peipei returned to the office, where Ai Er delivered her report. "The foundational and logistical work for the five fleets is complete. The only thing missing for the Beast Roar Fleet is combat starships. Alisa is currently focused on building the star gates and space stations, so the combat ships will take a bit longer."

Feng Mo nodded and looked to Hua Qin. "You've been by my side for a while now. From now on, you'll command the Beast Roar Fleet. Ai Er, allocate ten T4 Kangaroo-class destroyers and twenty T4 Blade and Shield-class frigates from the Storm Fleet to the Beast Roar Fleet so Hua Qin can deploy them to the Beast Roar System immediately. That system will be our stronghold—guard it well!"

"Yes, Commander. I won't let you down," Hua Qin replied confidently. Observing this, Han Peipei couldn't hide a flash of envy. Who wouldn't want to command a T4 fleet? However, she knew her time would come.

"Ai Er, report on the status of the Beast Roar System and the star gate construction," Feng Mo instructed.

"The two star gates are progressing smoothly. Completion is expected in four and a half months. As for the Beast Roar System, it's not in great shape. The spaceport on the prime star needs to be rebuilt, a large undertaking. Additionally, three space stations must be constructed, and the damaged underground laboratory needs restoration. All of this will take about a year and a half."

Feng Mo frowned—too slow. If the timeline held, building starships would be even further delayed. "Tell Alisa she has one year to complete everything, including the starships. I'll double her manpower to speed up the work."

Ai Er laughed, covering her mouth. "If she hears about this deadline, she'll probably demand a pay raise."

Feng Mo chuckled, imagining Alisa's round face pouting. "Give her double the snacks and tell her that if she completes it within the year, she'll get a 10% salary increase!"

"If Alisa hears that, she'll be over the moon," Ai Er said, smiling.

With official matters concluded, Feng Mo was left alone with Ai Er after Hua Qin tactfully pulled Han Peipei from the room. Ai Er's unique allure was captivating. Unlike Chu Yunjian's playful energy or Kailan's regal charm, Ai Er exuded the strength of a battle-hardened general, which Feng Mo found irresistible.

More than that, Ai Er's gentle, nurturing side—like an older sister—made her indispensable to him. And, of course, there was her "secret weapon," her tail, a unique feature that

spoke volumes without needing further description.
