"It's an honor to have you examine them, Professor Luo," Feng Mo said as he placed the lead box on the lab table. "Here are three interstellar seeds. I checked the Federation database, but couldn't find any matches. I'd be grateful for your insight."
Professor Luo, nodding, donned his gloves and approached the lab table. Following his standard procedure, he meticulously examined each of the three unique, variably colored seeds. By the time he finished, more than three hours had passed, and he wiped the sweat from his forehead.
Looking up with a complex expression, he slowly said, "These three seeds are the same level as the Life-Devouring Ancient Tree seed you acquired by chance previously—they're all T5 interstellar seeds. Their value is beyond estimation."
"However, two of them are recorded in higher-access databases, which explains why they don't appear in the general Federation records."
He placed two of the seeds back into the lead box and pointed to a transparent seed. "This one is a T5-level interstellar energy seed, and it's rather special. It's absent from the Federation database because, at the T5 level, an energy seed undergoes substantial transformations in both structure and composition."
"It can be used to construct T5-level bio-starships, T5 combat armor, and also as a power core for large, mobile interstellar fortresses. Its value is strategic and impossible to quantify. As a Duke, it's something you'll surely need one day."
Next, he pointed to a yellow seed. "This one is rather unique as well. Duke, you may have heard of floating continents. This is a floating continent seed. It absorbs energy blocks to nurture soil, eventually forming a vast floating continent."
"With the addition of an artificial atmosphere, defensive structures, and by using the energy seed as an engine, it can support long-range voyages. It becomes a true mobile interstellar fortress that requires no resupply."
Hearing this, Feng Mo felt a surge of excitement. These two seeds were immensely valuable, especially the T5 floating continent seed. It was truly a treasure. Just imagining a fleet guarding a floating continent, with a palace built on it for interstellar expeditions, was exhilarating.
After introducing the two T5 seeds, Professor Luo picked up the last, brown seed. "This one shows no energy response, indicating it's likely hollow. However, it's indeed a T5 interstellar seed—just one that has been devoured by a worm."
Noticing Feng Mo and the others' confusion, he explained further, "In the universe, there exist life forms beyond our understanding, with unique abilities—the Succubi's psychic powers, the Crystal Skeletons' and Giants' physical resilience, the Orcs' berserk strength, and so forth. This seed was likely eaten by an interstellar worm."
"According to rumors, these worms grow by consuming energy-rich matter without limit. A Federation expedition once captured images of an interstellar worm over three thousand meters long in a distant star region."
"A worm of that size could devour an entire asteroid, and the Federation's T5 Planet Buster Cannon barely scratched it."
"These worms defy scientific understanding—they don't require oxygen. As long as they have enough energy stored internally, they can survive indefinitely. As their energy decreases, they shrink; as it increases, they grow larger and tougher."
"A truly terrifying creature!"
Feng Mo agreed, astonished. He'd never heard of such a cosmic creature. His curiosity about the Federation's higher-access databases grew—he wondered what other extraordinary entities they contained. The idea of harnessing such creatures was equally intriguing. Like most men, Feng Mo felt an urge to conquer what he encountered.
When he first heard about a three-thousand-meter-long interstellar worm, his first thought was of using it to pull a floating continent through space, creating a massive mobile palace. Though he knew it was a wild idea, who knew? The Spark System still had T6 through T9 technology tiers locked; perhaps they held secrets to controlling such cosmic creatures.
"Thank you, Professor Luo. Feng Mo will likely trouble you again in the future. I'll soon be planting the Life-Devouring Ancient Tree, and as thanks, I'd like to gift you one of its seeds when it bears fruit."
Feng Mo's words were sincere. His second uncle's help was a separate matter, but Professor Luo had examined interstellar seeds for him twice now, and he couldn't ignore that. His uncle Xiang Rong, being family, would receive his gratitude naturally, but he'd be sure to give the Chu family a share of the Life-Devouring Ancient Tree's fruits.
"Then I'll thank you in advance, Duke Feng Mo," Professor Luo replied with a smile. He understood the reciprocal nature of relationships: Feng Mo would have future needs, and Professor Luo would continue to be useful, strengthening their connection.
Professor Luo placed the hollowed T5 seed back into the lead box. Xiang Rong led them back to the surface, escorting Feng Mo and Chu Yunjian to the entrance of the research company.
After thanking his uncle, Feng Mo took Chu Yunjian's hand, and they boarded a flying car to Dock No. 1. He placed the lead box in the Hurricane's main control room before returning to the dock to keep his promise to spend time with Miss Chu.
Over the next month, Feng Mo and Chu Yunjian explored every corner of the Radiant Prime Star. Not yet satisfied, they even visited all the habitable planets within the Radiant Star System.
During this time, Feng Mo also took steps to ease Hua Qin's workload, asking Uncle Yang to find a secretary with a clean background. The candidate he selected was an alumnus three years his senior and a recipient of the Feng family's support.
Her name was Han Peipei, a civilian student who had graduated from the command track. After graduation, thanks to the Feng family's connections, she was assigned to a T4 fleet in the Yunshan Empire, where she served as an intern commander, assistant captain, captain, and vice-commander. She had ample experience, having faced real combat and fulfilled various missions.
Summoned by Uncle Yang, Han Peipei was eager to serve as Feng Mo's secretary. Everyone from the Celestial Cloud Prime Star knew that to qualify as a commander under Duke Feng Mo,
one first had to serve by his side as a secretary.
