Rhett's POV
A wide smile split across my face, my pleasure at their agreement too great for me to ignore. My eyes flitted to Natalie and the flush on her cheeks made my grin widen.
"I'm very glad to hear that Mr. and Mrs. Dawson. I hope we can make the arrangements as soon as possible?" I queried, barely unable to contain myself now that I had been given permission to unwrap this lovely little present before me.
I wasn't usually so torn up about women, but there was just something about this one that made me feel like I had to have her. Perhaps after this one night, I would get it out of my system. If I didn't… I had plenty of resources at my disposal to keep her in my bed the night after.
"Yes. I've spoken to our lawyer. He'll email us his draft for your approval. Once we sign you can… proceed."
Nick looked rather ill at the thought of what I would be proceeding to do with his wife, but he had no room to complain. He had already agreed to sell her to me and I was only too happy to collect her from him.
My eyes flicked back to Nat, amused that she had taken to not looking at me at all, her furious blush still prominent on her cheeks.
Now that we'd reached a verbal agreement, I didn't see the need to taunt her anymore. Stepping back, I gestured to the spread on the dining table
"Please, enjoy your breakfast. I'll need to step away for a quick meeting, but I'll be back within the next hour or two. Should your contract arrive before my return, relay that information to the server assigned to attend to you. He will know how to reach me." With a polite nod to both of them, my eyes lingering once again on Natalie's frame, I left them alone.
I couldn't focus much on my meeting, too worked up about my plans for tonight to concentrate. If I didn't know myself better, I would have said I felt excited with how my stomach fluttered and my feet itched to carry me back to my penthouse suite. Somehow, I managed to persevere. I held out for a little over an hour before Jacques came close to whisper that the Dawson's were ready. I didn't hear a word of the pitch I was receiving after that.
Cutting the entire proceedings short, I returned back to my guests, trying not to look as anxious or excited as I felt.
"You have it?" I queried once I was with them. Nick nodded while Natalie still refused to look at me.
"Good. Let me go over it."
I said casually, holding out a hand for the documents. I walked us to my sitting area, sinking down to the armchair and relaxing into the cushions.
"Do you need a few hours to consult with your legal team?" Nick asked and I couldn't help the bark of laughter that bubbled to my lips. There was some amount of legalese in there, but nothing I couldn't discern for myself. I found the terms reasonable enough that I took my pen out of my breast pocket and signed. A charged silence fell across the room and I hid a smile. This couple has just signed a deal with the devil himself, and they didn't even seem to know it.
I put the pen down slowly, my eyes returning to Natalie. She was looking at me now, a dark look in her eyes that revealed to me how she might be more excited about this entire deal than she was letting on. Still, I wasn't about to spill her secret right in front of her husband. He would leave now and I would have her for twenty four hours until the exact same time tomorrow.
Natalie and I held each other's gazes for a long moment until she broke it off.
"Do you two need a moment to say goodbye?" I asked out of politeness, more than ready to yank her out of his presence. Nick hesitated and glanced at his wife, as if reconsidering this entire deal before turning back to me and shaking his head. "No, we already did that."
I gave them a few minutes anyways while they clung to each other. If I were a better man, I would have told them not to bother, called this entire thing off. But I wasn't. I wanted to know what those lips tasted like and how those long legs of hers would feel wrapped around my waist. I smiled as I watched them and her gaze caught mine over her husband's shoulder. She stiffened when she noticed me watching them and my smile widened.
Soon enough he was leaving, heading back to the room I'd booked for them while leaving me alone with his wife.
The moment the door closed behind him, my mask of politeness disintegrated.
I took several steps towards Nat and she backed up away from me, her eyes widening. The pulse at the base of her neck fluttered wildly and her breaths came out in short, choppy pants. She probably expected me to rip into her just then, and honestly I would have if not that I knew it was going to ruin this interaction entirely. I didn't just want to ravish Natalie Dawson, I wanted to woo her.
She closed her eyes, waiting for my next move, breaths coming in shallow puffs. I merely tucked a few strands of her long, silky locs behind her ears.
"We're going to take a little trip. Spend the night and return tomorrow morning in time for your husband to pick you up. You must relax Natalie, despite the circumstances you have every right to refuse my attentions at every point in time."
"And if I do our deal's off right? We don't get the money?" She asked, a tinge of bitterness in her voice. I inclined my head at her "Well, I don't exactly run a charity. Depending on my mood, I might leave you a small token. Or not."
She grimaced.
"Then clearly I can't really refuse."
"Oh yes you can. Like you pointed out before, money can't buy everything. All you have to do for that to remain true, is walk away." I paused and levelled my gaze at her, confident that she wouldn't walk. I wasn't sure what their finances were like, but this was a dream come through for this couple. Neither of them would be willing to throw away one million dollars like I clearly was.
I got my phone out and called Jacques, giving him instructions for my helipad and ordering him to come with the gift I'd procured for the lady. Thirty minutes later, we were soaring over the city, heading steadily to my private island where I would finally get the time and privac
y to ravish Natalie Dawson.
