Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 : stone monsters

Alex landed on the ground, splitting the two-meter-wide disc into two one-meter discs that rotated around him. He launched the blood discs at the stone creatures. With a toughness rivaling metal and a spinning speed exceeding 200 miles per hour,

the discs had a terrifying cutting power. Even the hard stone monsters seemed like butter against them. Under Alex's direction, the blood discs sliced through every creature within a ten-meter radius.

He then moved towards Mike, who was now surrounded by the stone monsters.

Mike resembled a human juggernaut; his height had stretched to match the creatures at nearly two and a half meters,

and his metallic armor shone in a bright platinum glow. His hands had transformed into large hammers,

crushing the creatures around him. Despite the many attacks aimed at him, Mike's armor was incredibly resilient and had self-repairing capabilities, meaning he faced no real danger.

As Alex approached within a ten-meter radius of him, he directed the blood discs to slice through dozens of monsters in an instant.

Mike's expression hardened as he saw this. Though he'd taken down his fair share,

he couldn't match Alex's speed in eliminating the creatures. While Alex had shown some of his power on the first floor, the weak enemies didn't give Mike much reason to be impressed. Now,

after witnessing this level of strength, Mike found himself reevaluating Alex.

"Don't just stand there looking at me. There are still plenty of creatures swarming around," Alex reminded Mike, snapping him out of his thoughts, before heading toward the other stone monsters to finish them off.

Once they'd destroyed all the stone monsters, Alex and Mike looked around, surveying the aftermath. Most of the creatures had been destroyed by the two of them, leaving little work for Henry, Terry, and Joanna.

After confirming there were no additional threats, everyone shot Alex an odd look. They hadn't expected this late addition to their group to possess such power.

Alex had practically wiped out the majority of the creatures on his own, and though Mike had fought alongside him, he paled in comparison.

"We'll stick to the same plan. Mike and Alex will take the lead, and the rest of us will provide support from the rear. Everyone, stay alert—the monsters seem to be getting stronger, so it looks like things will only get harder as we move up," Henry announced.

The group sat in a circle to catch their breath. While the battles weren't impossible, they weren't exactly easy either, so they decided to take a brief rest before moving to the next floor.

"So, what do you think? How many floors do you think we'll have to face before we reach the one responsible for all this?" Henry asked the group. I

t was a question on everyone's mind. If they had to fight on every single floor of the tower, they'd be exhausted long before reaching the top. After all, they only had limited rations—just some water and a few energy bars.

"I don't think it'll take that long," Terry replied. "Even if he sacrificed all those people and activated his power, creating too many floors with guards would drain an immense amount of energy. No one could sustain that."

Over time, Terry had taken on the role of analyzing and processing information. His sharp analytical mind, along with his ability, proved invaluable in their current situation.

Alex observed Terry, noting how his insights and skills had been incredibly helpful to the team. People like him were indispensable in a combat group, especially under such conditions.

"Alex, do you still sense the same thing?" Henry asked, looking over at him, referencing whether Alex still felt that they were being watched by their enemy.

"Yes. It hasn't disappeared since we first entered," Alex replied.

His answer heightened everyone's caution. They were still being watched, meaning they had to stay on guard.

"Alright, we've rested long enough. Let's keep moving," Henry announced after half an hour of rest. He led the way to the door to the next floor, followed closely by everyone. The formation stayed the same—Alex and Mike at the front, Henry in the back, with Joanna and Terry in the center.

As soon as they passed through the gate, they felt a powerful pull. The entire group materialized in the center of a large room. Before they had a chance to survey their surroundings, dozens of blood arrows launched at them from all directions.
