Minho gasped loudly, sweat covering his whole body as he sat up in bed.
His heart was racing and his breathing was heavy. He looked down at his hands, which were shaking from the nightmare.
He touched his body, checking to see if any parts were missing. To his relief, everything was intact.
The dream he had was so vivid, he could still feel the pain and fear. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't remember any details.
Minho wasn't the type to have nightmares often, but recently, he had been having strange dreams where he suffered, almost as if someone was torturing him.
He looked at the time on the table beside his bed. He only had a few minutes before he had to leave for work.
He looked around his small one-room apartment, with a tiny window next to his bed, provided the only source of natural light. It wasn't much, but it was enough for him.
He dragged himself out of bed,his black hair was still matted down in a permanent bedhead.
His once bright brown eyes had lost their shine, and he now looked like an old man with back pain every day, worked hard just to make ends meet.
Life use to be great back when he was a kid, he had cute girlfriends and had Great friends that follows him everywhere.
Belive it or not but he also used to be the most popular one in school, girls will stand in line for me.
In his tird year of high school, both of his parents pass a way in an accident.
That's when Minho's life becomes hell. He had to take on the responsibility of taking care of himself. He may not have a good place to stay, but he had a roof over his head and food to live off of.
It was enough for him. His job was far from easy. Minho had a soft spot for humans, and his coworkers often took advantage of that.
They saw him as a pushover, and poor Minho couldn't say no to them, because of that He always had to stay overtime to finish his work.
But his boss was a different story. He was a nightmare, always yelling at him for the smallest mistake. Making him sometimes wish he could shove him to death.
But No matter how much he hated his job, he still dragged himself to work every day with dark circles under his eyes. I mean who else is going to pay the rent.
As he stood at the crosswalk, waiting for the light to turn green, he overheard two girls next to him talking about the latest chapter of their favorite light novel, "The Return of the Hero."
"Did you hear? They just released the last chapter of 'The Return of the Hero'" one girl said to her friend.
"You're right. I wonder how it will end," her friend replied.
He couldn't help but get excited as well. Reading light novels after work was the one thing that brought light to his life.
And 'The Return of the Hero' had become his new favorite.
The story was cliche, with an overpowered main character winning the hearts of all the hot sisters. It was a atypical isekai story, but Minho loved it nonetheless.
Lost in his thoughts, he didn't notice the person behind him ill intention until it was to late. He felt a hand shove him , before he could react he was lying in the road, unable to move because of the shock.
The sound of a truck filled his ears, speeding towards him.
As everything went black.
