The sky blazed crimson, shattered by the blows of divine swords. The wind howled, carrying the cries of dying gods and demons. Li Wei, the Jade Dragon, stood atop a mountain of obsidian shards, his snow-white robes stained with blood – his own and others'. In his eyes, once shining with the wisdom of millennia, madness danced.
He had been fighting for an eternity, or perhaps only a moment. Time had lost all meaning in this chaos of destruction. Around him, gods fell, slain by his blade, forged from the heart of a dying star. Demons, whose power could shake the heavens, turned to dust from a single glance.
"You are too strong, Li Wei," a voice rasped from the very heart of the storm. "You have disrupted the balance. The world cannot withstand your power."
From the torn fabric of reality, a figure emerged, shrouded in darkness. It was Amaterasu, the sun goddess, her face contorted in a grimace of hatred. In her hand, a sword forged from moonlight, capable of cleaving the void itself, gleamed.
"Balance?" Li Wei laughed, his voice like rolling thunder. "This is a world where gods feast and mortals suffer! I will destroy this world and create a new one, where there will be no place for injustice!"
He swung his blade, and a wave of energy, capable of annihilating entire galaxies, crashed into Amaterasu. The goddess deflected the blow, but her sword cracked, and a trickle of blood ran down her face.
"You have gone mad, Jade Dragon!" she cried. "You do not understand what you are doing!"
"I understand more than you can imagine," Li Wei replied, his eyes burning with cold fire. "I have seen the future, Amaterasu. I have seen what will become of this world if I do not intervene."
He lunged at the goddess, and a battle began that shook the very foundations of creation. Swords clashed, sparks flew in all directions, creating new stars and galaxies. Li Wei fought like a man possessed, feeling no pain, knowing no fatigue. He was like a hurricane, sweeping away everything in its path.
But even a hurricane has its limits. In the heat of battle, Li Wei overlooked one crucial detail. He forgot about his heart.
Once, long ago, when he was still a young cultivator, he sacrificed a part of his soul to save the woman he loved. This sacrifice left a void in his heart, which he tried to fill with power and authority. But the void did not disappear. It waited for its time.
And that time had come.
At the height of the battle with Amaterasu, when Li Wei was at the peak of his power, the void in his heart opened. The darkness he had suppressed for so long poured out, consuming his mind, his will, his soul.
"No!" he screamed, but his voice was drowned out by the roar of darkness.
His eyes dimmed, his body trembled. The sword slipped from his weakened hands. Amaterasu, wounded but not broken, looked at him with horror and pity.
"You have lost, Jade Dragon," she whispered. "You have allowed darkness to consume you."
Li Wei did not answer. He was no longer himself. He was merely a puppet in the hands of darkness, an instrument of destruction.
Amaterasu, gathering her last strength, struck him one final blow. The sword of moonlight pierced his heart, and Li Wei fell from the obsidian mountain like a falling star.
His body pierced the heavens and fell into the bottomless void between worlds. Darkness consumed him entirely, and nothing remained of the Jade Dragon, savior and destroyer, but a legend.
A legend of a hero who fell victim to his own power.
