Chapter 54 - Truth or lie

After few hours, O5 Council couldn't wait to see how A'malther continued, and so, O5-1 tried using the card A'malther gave them. O5-1 called the number, and almost inmediately, A'malther responded, opening a portal in front of them, but being directly at O5-1.

A'malther: "Do tell me, what is your need for me to assist you?"

O5-1: "We seek an update on your actions, A'malther. Your recruitment of anomalies is concerning. Explain your intentions clearly."

O5-2: "We need assurance that your growing coalition won't pose a threat to the Foundation or humanity. Your movements suggest a larger agenda."

O5-4: "Your presence has disrupted containment and stability. What is your ultimate goal in gathering these entities under your command?"

A'malther: "I do see... I do assume I must let it clear... I do not have in any short term, or long term plan, any singularity against you or the Foundation. Perhaps you may take me as superior, as is not wrong, I certainly am. But yet, even tho, I am still under you at the same time. I do deeply appreciate what you did offer me, since the very beginning... You are the main cause I did free myself to be finally myself purely. I may be searching my way, a path you may see as Scarlet King was, but I con confirm, I will go by my own, and not be as him. As I did told three of you before the ceremony, some things never change, and so, I do still remain under you for your need."

O5-1: "Your words offer clarity, but trust is not built on declarations alone. We will continue to observe your actions closely. Any deviation toward destabilization will force our hand."

O5-2: "If your intentions align with stability, we will not interfere unnecessarily. However, the scope of your influence is expanding—ensure it does not surpass your control."

O5-4: "Your path diverges from the Scarlet King, so you claim. We will hold you to that. Should your motives shift, be certain we will respond accordingly."

A'malther: "As you prefer. Now, is there any other inconvenience bothering you that also requires my assistance? I am in need to assist in my voidful domain."

O5-1: "At this moment, no further matters require your immediate attention. We will contact you should the need arise."

O5-2: "Continue your endeavors, but be mindful of how they intersect with our operations. We will remain vigilant."

O5-4: "You may return to your domain. For now, we have no further need of your presence."

A'malther: "Very well then, but please, do call me when is really necessary. As God-king, I must focus only in what is important, relevant, or needs my direct assistance, and I can not multiply myself for cover different situations altogether. I do hope you do understand, is not something personal against you, I am still in attempt to fit myself in this, and it does still overwhelm my thoughts."

A'malther then left as how he arrived, and then the portal closed behind him.

O5 Council Meeting – Evaluation and Inform on A'malther

O5-1: "A'malther continues to evolve in ways we cannot fully predict, but one thing is abundantly clear—his transformation has elevated him far beyond what we originally contained as SCP-9743. He refers to himself as a 'God-king,' and while he claims loyalty and gratitude to us, his very nature and actions suggest an entity operating independently, with motives that are increasingly divergent from ours. His willingness to assist is valuable, but I sense that his assistance is driven by his own agenda, one that, while not currently hostile, is undeniably self-serving. His insistence on us calling him only for 'relevant' or 'important' matters reflects a growing distance between us."

O5-2: "Agreed. What concerns me more is his emphasis on being a 'God-king.' His rhetoric is dangerously similar to that of other entities we've dealt with, particularly the Scarlet King. While he assures us that his path diverges from the King's, the parallels are unsettling. A'malther is constructing his own sphere of influence—recruiting anomalies like SCP-049, SCP-035, SCP-682, SCP-073, and even dismantling and upgrading SCP-079. Each of these entities serves a function in his growing hierarchy. The pattern is unmistakable: he is assembling a pantheon or something akin to an army, albeit with a veneer of diplomacy. This is strategic, not altruistic."

O5-3: "What troubles me most is the effect he has on our personnel. His presence is overwhelming; reports indicate that staff in his proximity experience symptoms akin to divine awe or submission. This is an anomalous influence, whether intentional or not. Even SCP-035 has undergone profound changes simply by being worn by him. If a mask known for its manipulative abilities is being transformed, what does that say about A'malther's potential to reshape other anomalies or even us? His power is not just physical or intellectual—it's psychological and existential. We are dealing with something far beyond a mere anomaly."

O5-4: "To expand on that, we must acknowledge the practical side of this situation. A'malther's loyalty—or at least his cooperation—is crucial. He has demonstrated power over anomalies that have challenged our containment efforts for decades. SCP-682 is now reportedly compliant, SCP-035 and SCP-049 have willingly aligned themselves with him, and he managed to dismantle SCP-079 without resistance. If he turns against us, we lack the means to counter him effectively. For now, keeping him aligned with the Foundation is our only option, but this alignment feels increasingly tenuous."

O5-5: "I find his mention of being overwhelmed by his new existence interesting. It humanizes him—or at least gives us a glimpse of something relatable. His transformation might be divine in scale, but it is not without cost to him. This sense of being overwhelmed could be leveraged, though we must tread carefully. Pushing him too far could make him withdraw entirely, or worse, view us as adversaries."

O5-6: "Let's not mince words: A'malther is a threat. A controlled threat, but a threat nonetheless. His powers continue to expand, and we have no way of measuring their limits. His ability to open portals undetected, manipulate anomalies, and exert psychological influence on those around him are signs of a being who could rival or surpass even our most dangerous anomalies. Contingencies must be developed immediately, even if only theoretical. We cannot afford to assume his cooperation will last forever."

O5-7: "His insistence on being called only for 'important' matters is telling. He is positioning himself as a superior, not an equal or subordinate. While he acknowledges our role in his transformation, he increasingly frames himself as above us. The symbolism of him calling us his 'creators' yet simultaneously asserting his dominion is troubling. It feels less like gratitude and more like an acknowledgment of a stepping stone. He sees us as part of his past, not his future."

O5-1 (Concluding):

"In summary, A'malther represents both an asset and a liability. His power and influence are undeniable, and his actions thus far suggest a focus on order, improvement, and self-defined justice. However, his growing independence, the recruitment of anomalies, and his own evolving identity are causes for concern. We must maintain open communication with him while preparing for the possibility that his goals will eventually conflict with ours. I recommend we:

Increase surveillance of his actions, particularly in his voidful domain. Monitor the anomalies he has recruited for changes in behavior or abilities. Develop theoretical containment or neutralization protocols, even if purely hypothetical. Continue to engage with him diplomatically, ensuring he views the Foundation as an ally rather than an obstacle."

Final Notes:

The O5 Council recognizes that A'malther is no longer just an anomaly. He is a global—and potentially multiversal—player. His loyalty, while professed, cannot be taken for granted. The Foundation must adapt to this new reality while preparing for any eventuality. For now, we walk a fine line between collaboration and containment.
