As the academy grounds fell into an uneasy silence, Caidus's sharp gaze turned to the horizon, where the last remnants of the rival families' forces disappeared into the distance.
His shadow panther prowled at his side, its claws scratching the bloodied ground as if eager for more.
"They're retreating," Grevan said, his voice low but firm.
Caidus shook his head. "Not all of them. Their leaders have escaped."
Grevan's grip tightened on his blade. His iron-clad bear snorted, its metal plates rattling as it stamped its massive paw on the ground.

Fowad, leaning heavily against the eastern gate, overheard the conversation and stepped forward.
"Shouldn't we focus on securing the academy first?" he asked.
