Chapter 22 - Ye Chenfeng: It's a trap if you're not careful

"What's going on with this black pool of water?" Ye Chenfeng murmured, walking toward the dark spring. He dipped his palms in, and an intense chill surged up his arms. The water was undoubtedly extraordinary—an undiscovered natural treasure.

"And how are you managing to control your own powers? I'm curious," he asked, his gaze shifting to Ying Su.

After her explanation, Ye Chenfeng finally understood. At first, Ying Su had been just like the other victims he knew—helpless to control her powers. She'd stumbled upon this place by "accident" and discovered that the spring water sped up her cultivation. Since then, she'd been sneaking in to train, feeling she'd found a perfect solution. Her practice intensified, and her progress skyrocketed—until one day, her magic surged beyond control.

Though her power at that time wasn't enough to cause massive destruction, it nearly turned a factory and the surrounding area into a wasteland. She thought disaster had struck, but when she looked around, she found no harm had been done. The only difference was the spring water itself—now cloudy, with its enhancing effects stronger than ever. And so, she decided to stay.

Yesterday, she finally ascended to a high-level mage, triggering another burst of magic that dyed the spring black and even affected the people above. Fortunately, the situation was resolved, and it would be a while before her magic flared up again.

Ye Chenfeng felt as though he'd stumbled upon a protagonist's journey. This cursed spring water feels oddly similar to the Earth Holy Spring. And the dosage… could it actually be more potent than the Holy Spring I snatched from Mo Fan?

A dawning realization struck him. Half of that spring water belonged to Mo Fan! Without it, his cultivation might be much lower than it should be in the original storyline. Damn, what if he can't defeat the Scale-skinned Demoness?

Panicked, Ye Chenfeng dashed to his car, ignoring everyone's puzzled looks. He grabbed the keys, jumped in the driver's seat, and floored the accelerator. "Boom boom boom!" The engine roared as he sped off.

"Huh?" Ying Su, still outside the car, stared in confusion. "I haven't even gotten in yet!"

"Uncle Ye will take her to my place!" he called back, his voice fading as he drove off into the distance.

Ying Su turned to the group with Ke Luan at the lead. "Hello…" she mumbled.

Ke Luan squinted at his team, who instinctively took a step back. "Master Ye's orders must be respected!" he announced, rallying the team to escort her. The others grumbled, muttering about Ye Chenfeng's wild driving. They watched in disbelief as he zoomed through the city, ignoring red lights and speeding through streets.

Suddenly, a fierce-looking man with a shaved head appeared, blocking Ye Chenfeng's path. "Hey, you nearly hit me!" he shouted. "Let's see what you've got!"

Ye Chenfeng sighed, realizing he didn't have time for this. But as the man prepared for a fight, Ye Chenfeng calmly stepped out, lit up the car with a spell, and blew it up.

The man's jaw dropped in disbelief. "What are you doing?!" he stammered, horrified.

Ye Chenfeng patted his shoulder. "No worries, friend. That car? It was the problem, not me. Consider it avenged." Without another word, he left the man staring blankly at the smoldering wreckage.

Ye Chenfeng overheard people gossiping as he rushed toward the concert arena.

"Did you hear? Something happened at the idol concert!"

"I saw the Hunter King pass by too. It must be serious."

Ye Chenfeng activated his shadow magic, sprinting at full speed. Mo Fan, you'd better survive this! This is just the beginning.

Finally, he arrived at the gym. It was silent outside. If I remember right, Lingling said everyone inside was likely a demon. Perfect, he thought, steeling himself for whatever lay ahead.
