Lily's presence sent a chill down Emily's spine. Her eyes seemed to bore into Emily's soul, searching for weaknesses.
"Leave her alone, Lily," Axel warned, his voice low and menacing.
Lily's smile never wavered. "Oh, I'm just curious about your new plaything."
Emily stood tall, refusing to back down. "I'm not a toy, Lily. And Axel's not yours to control."
Lily's gaze turned icy. "You have no idea what you're getting yourself into."
As Lily stalked off, Axel's tension was palpable.
"What's going on between you two?" Emily asked.
Axel's jaw clenched. "Lily's got a vendetta against me. She'll stop at nothing."
Emily's concern deepened. "What did you do to her?"
Axel's eyes clouded. "I ended things. She couldn't handle it."
Suddenly, Emily's phone buzzed with a text from an unknown number:
"Stay away from Axel. You're in danger."
Emily's heart skipped a beat. "Axel, look at this."
Axel's face darkened. "Lily's playing games. Don't worry, I'll protect you."
But Emily's fear had already taken root.
As they walked home, Emily noticed a black SUV following them.
"Axel, that car—"
Axel's gaze locked onto the vehicle. "Get behind me."
